Would you like to hear Beckles on JoeBucsFan.com? If by hear you mean read I voted yes. I notice a few comments by Ian Beckles, is that the same guy?

  2. BROCKTACUAR Says:

What happened? Did he get the axe at 620?

  3. Rrsrq Says:

I want to thank @iHeartRadio for allowing me on their airwaves for 12 yrs. It’s time to move on. Thanks for all of your support. Peace! ✌🏼️ On Ian’s Twitter Account

  4. Evan Says:

Definitely. Sometimes he says things that are hard to hear, but it’s always well thought out. Great insight.

  5. Vic Says:

Would be nice to hear Beckles uncensored. Perfect fit around here. He’d be a god to some of you clowns

  6. D-Rome Says:

Wow, 12 years. He had a nice run. I was wondering why I didn’t hear him on last week. Now this makes sense. That said, I really didn’t like the Ron & Ian show or what it became. I only tuned in during the mornings (which became afternoons) on the instances when I was in the car at that time. It seems like every time I tuned in they were talking about some “hot babe” on their show page they just put up as if it was some kind of exclusive pics. That or some Hooters girl in studio talking about herself as if the audience is really enthralled by such conversation as “What’s your major?”. There was some good sports discussion at times but honestly I’m not sure what demographic they were targeting. They sounded like a couple of over-the-hill guys trying to act like they’re still in their 20s. I’m sure Ron Diaz is a good guy but c’mon….he’s 60. I’m sure those Hooters girls aren’t nearly as interested in him as he is in them.

  7. Mike10 Says:

Ian is an educated and experienced Buc, who was part of the turn around of this franchise. Sad to see him off the air, but would be a phenomenal FA pickup for JBF.

  8. Buccfan37 Says:

Was that the same show on WDAE that guesses celebrity ages while the Beatles track “Birthday” played in the background?

  9. IANBECKLES Says:

I not the real Ian Beckles, just used his name as I always respected his honesty with regards to the Bucs. Enjoyed him on WDAE so hopefully he turns up again soon.

Joe how about a weekly podcast featuring Beckles discussing the Bucs?

  10. Espo Says:

    @IanBeckles

I always thought you were him. Get a life.

I’ll tell you who I’d rather listen to. Booger. I don’t understand how WDAE kept Big Dog when Booger became available. Maybe it’s something about his contract. I also love Steve White breaking games down.

  11. Patrick in VA Says:

Not sure what led to him parting ways with 620 but I think he would be a great addition to JBF. He was what led credibility to the show. There was a bit of catering to the audience on there so you had to sit through some of the campy stuff, but when it came to breaking down play and the nuances of the games, he was solid. I think he would be a great element to add to the team.

I’m not sure that the afternoon team at the station still has the same draw.

  12. Patrick in VA Says:

@Espo – Couldn’t agree more. That station needs an injection of energy and personality. It seems like it’s geared toward the 45+ crowd. Being on the AM dial doesn’t help them much with that either.

  13. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Although I often disagree with him, isn’t that much of what makes this site so great? I’m not afraid to admit that I come on this site to argue. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone. That’s what makes it so much fun. As long as he can take it, I think he’d be great for JBF.

  14. JBF Addict Says:

I guess they didn’t appreciate his candor. Too bad and their loss! I enjoyed his perspective and have a lot of respect for him, even when I’ve disagreed with some of his views. Hopefully he’s already entertaining other worthy offers. Especially ones without the corporate leash.

  15. Mad Mark Says:

When I listened to him and Ron, it was all food talk, selling bee pollen and diet aids that didn’t work.

  16. unbelievable Says:

    Steve white > Ian beckles

  17. "TheKevin" Says:

    Please no!!!!

I’ve had all the babe and food talk I can take.

And he acts like he knows everything about everything and is never wrong and whoever disagrees with him is wrong.

Stopped listening to that show because of him.

“I played so I know everything”

  18. Phas Says:

I always wondered how Diaz got on but clearly not for sports but the show was clearly catering to him. Both are cool in their own way and anyone upset about the my way or highway attitude stfu. It’s called opinionated and that’s how it goes and let me guess the same people are always open to others opinions lol. I see that side but didn’t mind it enough to be happy he’s gone. Additionally you would always hear, this is for Ian and then a sports question lol plenty respect his opinion and seek it. Clearly there are those who just bitch to bitch. Enjoy him being gone it’s not for the best but can be overcome. Good luck Ian!

  19. Dan Says:

Ian is my favorite sports personality period. I can’t believe wdae. Sign him he makes the show I’m sorry not Ron. Ian Rocks!

  20. Lamarcus Says:

An absolute no. That’s why he is free agen and not resigned.

  21. JoAnne Says:

If you have followed Ron Diaz over the years, you will know that nobody other than Ron Bennington lasted longer that Ian Beckles did with Ron Diaz. It takes a lot to work with Ron’s arrogance. Watch out JP, you will do something to piss off Ron and you will be next. I would love to hear Ian again. Miss him so much. I can’t listen to WDAE after 9 o’clock. The rest of line up after that is horrible. Good luck Ian in whatever you do. You will be fine without WDAE.

  22. Danr Says:

Dan. Stop. You are making us look bad.

  23. Grt1 Says:

I really thought Ian and Ron are always unprepared , uninformed and Ian was always plugging some sort of event ,diet , restaurant or drink. Just don’t think Ian was very professional. I hope I don’t have to here “when I played ” here on JBF.

  24. Me? Says:

Weekly podcast with beckles would be cool

  25. SchlomieBarMitzvahCircumScissorStein Says:

Glad he’s gone. Now, he can focus on his “charity” events. People love saying how much they doing charity work but they never tell you how much they pocket.

  26. Michael Duggan Says:

Glad he is gone, wish him luck as long as it’s out of state…..”Go Bucs”

  27. Patrick in VA Says:

Sounds like there are a lot of people on here that are holding the format of the show against Ian as a professional. If you’ve listened to Justin Palowski (probably didn’t spell that correctly), he’s said that in radio you have to do things to fill the time and you have to have certain takes on things in order to follow the formula that the suits push on you.

All of the birthday challenges and being pervy old guys talking about girls and all of that was playing to their listener demographic. Without that sort of format, I don’t know that Ron has much to bring to the conversation.

Also, for those that are upset about him pushing endorsements and having deals set up with companies, I guess you don’t listen to much radio. I listen to sports talk radio in DC (which is so much better quality than in the bay area) and they do that all the time.

If Ian can focus exclusively on football and spend his time breaking down some of the nuances of the games for the site, I think he would offer a lot of really great insight.

  28. D-Rome Says:

Well there you go and I agree with you that Ron is the issue even if you didn’t quite mean that. Ron only has so much to bring to the table until he has to go back to his zany 6-10 AM morning show shtick. I’m not saying he’s a bad radio broadcaster but after Chris Thomas passed away my initial reaction for Ron Diaz taking that spot was “Ron Diaz on sports, really?” Twelve years later I still have that same reaction when I hear him on the air.

  29. Ty Says:

If Ian is not coming back, it will be a major loss for the station. Their show was for the everyday, living out your past athletic glory, ham and eggers. Ian speaks harshly about individual players when they deserve it.

  30. Pinball Shark Says:

Ian could always carry the show solo when Ron was out. That’s the true test. Not so much the other way around. I want to hear from someone who’s played the game and has that experience. I don’t care to really listen to that time slot now. There’s too much local coverage anyway. I miss the Jay Mohr show from 12:00-3:00 for the national perspective. Ronnie and TKras are good in the morning. They have developed their show nicely. And of course, I always flip the radio on at 3:00 for the Big Dog. One thing that hasn’t changed is how fast I can hit the mute button or turn the radio off to avoid hearing the same commercials over and over and over. I’d like the people who make these commercials be subjected to this torture.

  31. John Says:

Thank God. I’m thinking it’s no coincidence that the Bucs got good as soon as he left, and the Eagles started to suck as soon as he arrived. My favorite Beckles moment is when he got on the air and started complaining about having his car towed the night before, and completely defamed the company that he thought towed his car, only to find out it was the wrong company he was slagging. The owner called up hand rip him a new one, and Beckles folded like a cheap suit. He’s an all talk no action has been piece of you know what. The area will be better off without him and his fake “I’m going to throw hands” poseur thuggery. The only thing he’s thrown hands at in the last 25 years is the police horse he molested and got arrested for in September on a drunken bender.

  32. Anthony G Says:

Was never a fan of that show, especially Ian. Not that he’s a bad guy, I just don’t think he’s a good host. They would be talking about a basketball player or golfer or baseball player and Ian would always respond with…”when I played” lol. I get it, you were an OL a looooooomg time ago. Your experiences as an offensive lineman have nothing to do with any of those professions. Now, I get it if you are comparing an athletes mindset but it was always a reach, he just liked to say “when I played”. He didn’t know anything about any other sport, and even with football he kept it very general and simple. He was always negative and bashing players. I get it, we have not been a good football team but he wouldn’t actually break anything down, just insult guys. I feel like there are much better options to fill that time slot, get Ron out too. The show is a joke, a 60 year old overly tan man that wishes he was 25 years old. Talking about food and hot chicks. That’s not a show, that’s just a conversation guys have when they hang out, lol. We are listening to sports radio, we would like our hosts to have knowledge of almost all sports and actually report some news and share some insightful stories. They don’t have either…probably the worst sports show in the country.
