Fifty-Five
December 9th, 2015No, Joe is not pining for his favorite linebacker to return, that would be double-nickel himself, Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks.
But his number popped up indirectly today from offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter.
The Bucs’ sharp play-caller isn’t much for stats, that has been well documented. But there is a number he shoots for and it is the same number that Brooks made famous. Joe will let Koetter explain.
“Our goal is 55 percent touchdowns in the red zone. You want points every time. In the NFL if you get within the 20-yard line you shoud have a field goal in the bag. Fifty-five percent touchdown rate will usually put in ythe top five of the NFL.“
So far so good, as least for America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston. When throwing inside the 20-yard line, per Pro-Football-Reference.com, Jameis has thrown 12 touchdowns without a pick.
Not a shabby batting average. Currently, Jameis is 24 of 57 in the red zone.
Evan Brooks, a defensive guy, can admire that.

Heard the BSPN talking heads talking Rookie of the year award. They needed material to debate so they compared Amari Cooper, MM but one guy slipped in almost as an afterthought or done deal..of course we know Jameis has it locked up.

“Lieutenant Dan got me invested in some kind of fruit company. So then I got a call from him, saying we don’t have to worry about a quarterback no more. And I said, that’s good! One less thing.” – FG
