Bucs Have Jameis’ Back
December 8th, 2015A lot lately has been made of how America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, is the unquestioned team leader and teammates will happily follow him wherever he takes them.
But it is not just a one-way street. In fact, in the long run, Jameis’ leadership may help Jameis as much as the team. Yesterday, Bucs Lovie Smith explained.
“I think all of our guys play with passion and that’s good, but I think they are following Jameis [Winston] because he’s a good football player and he’s making plays,” Lovie said.”They’ll follow you and especially if it’s in that leadership role like the quarterback is. Yes, they will follow you and as a quarterback they’ll do what you ask them to do. They want to protect you as much as anything.”
The last sentence is the key: protecting Jameis. This showed earlier this season when guard Ali Marpet got a flag that may have been undisciplined, but his heart was in the right place. When Hawk Goldson hit Jameis with what Marpet thought was a cheap shot at Washington, Marpet blasted Hawk as if to send a message, “No more. That’s my quarterback. Screw with him and you will get blasted.”
And don’t think for a moment that other teams watching Bucs tape didn’t see that. Trust Joe, opponents are aware of how taking a cheap shot at Jameis very likely will backfire in a very bad way for a culprit.

To watch a game now, and not truly worry about a 3rd and long situation…3 and out, it’s amazing. #3 is the real deal. #13 and #87 well learn to hold on when #3 has had enough and says/shows it to them.
#22 DESERVES a new contract. Simple as that. I’ve been watching BUCS football for over 3 decades. I’ve never seen the combination of a O-line blocking and a RB hitting holes SO VIOLENTLY as one. I fcking love it
YO JOE!
GO BUCS!!!
Ooooooh and i stand by my 10-6

I think Evans is catching too much crap for drops lately. He had one bad game and now if he doesn’t catch a single pass over the course of the game Joe and many posters blast him. Having said that, Jameis could probably get I them when key passes are dropped. He has stepped up when necessary and at this point it is ok to demand the same from our best players.

I love the way our OL is developing. Marpet is a man beast with a nasty attitude.
According to Mike Evans…Logan Mankins is also a mean dude.
We are set up the middle for next year. I think Mankins is having fun once again.
That’s huuuge Tampa. He’ll come back next year in shape again.

So a guy who leads the league in drops and may have cost the Bucs two wins (and possibly a playoff berth) should be given a pass?

Thats why Im perfectly fine going O line with our 1st pick. I know DE is also needed, so is a star WR for when VJAX leaves, but protecting our FRANCHISE QB should be first and foremost.
Its looking like Taylor Decker is falling in the latest mocks, but I’ll wait until after the combine to put much faith in mocks right now. Thats how “THE DON OF THE O’LINE” Ali Marpet got on the map.

I love the way marpet plays with a nasty attitude…I somewhat agree with @madmax…I wouldn’t mind them spending the 1st round pick on a olineman but I don’t think decker is the guy…imo he’s a little stiff to play lt…I know Dotson is coming off knee injury at the age of 30 so rt for decker could be a possibility…after the last 2 draft classes I will just leave it to lovie and licht since they have been spot on for picks 1-5….GO BUCS!!!!
