“When You’re Putting It On Someone Like We Did”
November 23rd, 2015The last Buccaneer player to leave the victorious locker room yesterday, starting center Joe Hawley, was putting on a tie and patiently packing up his things while talking to Joe.
There wasn’t much bonding going on, but there was plenty of talk about bonding.
Joe is still searching for answers for how the Bucs’ offensive line went from garbage to fine wine so quickly.
Hawley says the chemistry and gelling among this group is unique. And it’s not about barbecues. But a lot of it is about how a veteran stud like Logan Mankins respects and likes the O-linemen, and they all feed off each other.
“I think the group we got here really enjoys each other, and I think [Logan Mankins] enjoys being around us,” Hawley said. “You can really tell. I think it really brings an energy to all of us when we just enjoy playing hard together.
“We all have similar styles, where we’re not the biggest strongest fastest guys. But we play hard every snap. And that’s what [Mankins] brings to it. He’s been like that his whole career. I think he enjoys playing with guys that bring that same kind of attitude. We got a lot of new guys along the offensive but we all really gel. And we enjoy playing with each other. When you’re putting it on someone like we did as an offensive line today, and you enjoy the guys you’re playing with, it’s a lot of fun.”
Again, the Bucs’ O-line transformation is a stunner, and it’s arguably the deepest corps in the NFL. It might not have weakness at this point.

I am a Joe Hawley fan! Great attitude and seems to always be the first or second player to congratulate/celebrate a score with his teammates. Good ball player, and a quality teammate. Please, bring him back next year!!

I look around the NFL seeing former players like Omaneh, Larsen, Zuttah, Penn, etc., that are starting for their teams. And then I think: we dropped these guys from our team – did we get something better? I had my doubts, but no longer.
I still can’t get over how well this O-line, both starters and backups, is performing – what depth!

Was it just me or did the broadcaster bash our o-line during the Eagles game? Especially in the beginning?

Still too many holding / clipping penalties. But the world looks different when you have a QB who can play. We’re overcoming 1st and 20 and 2nd and 18 situations. We didn’t have a prayer of that the last couple of years.

I really like Joe Hawley………..he’s what’s been missing on the O-Line….and that’s nastiness!!!!!!
He brings that attitude and it not’s a coincidence that since he got inserted into the starting lineup that the line is playing better.
Have EDS as a good back up and resign Hawley to a good contract….he’s proven his worth here.

Every time I see that picture of Hawley, I think to myself, “that man needs a battled-ax and a horn helmet…”
November 23rd, 2015 at 3:52 pm
We do have some nastiness…….loving Marpet….& Donovan Smith quietly improving game to game……we had Marpet, Pamphile & Dotson as backups yesterday……wow….

Look at the picture of Joe Hawley getting on the plane to Philadelphia on the Buccaneer web sight. It sounds stupid but the way this guy dresses makes you an instant fan. You just have to smile. Way to go man!

The transformation of the Bucs OLine is just barely short of Miraculous.
I was critical of Warhop and surprised he kept his job after last year – but Lovie knew better apparently.
Now it looks like Warhop should be up for position coach of the year…

Fire warhop? This all just shows how badly no OC and embarrassments to the NFL like Anthony Collins and garret gilkey buried this unit last year

Last year the offensive line was a testament to Bucs’ inability to recognize or to develop talent.
I am surprised and delighted by the offensive line this year.
Keep up the good work.
Go Bucs!!!
