Logan Mankins Asked For Game Ball Honor
November 2nd, 2015The postgame locker room video sweeping the Internet shows Logan Mankins presenting the coveted game ball to Kwon Alexander in an emotional presentation.
So why Mankins? Why not Gerald McCoy, the guy often referred to as the face of the franchise, and a team captain on the same side of the ball as Alexander?
The answer is simple, Lovie Smith explained tonight on the Buccaneers Radio Network. Mankins approached the head coach and asked if he could give Alexander the game ball.
Quite a natural leadership move there by Mankins. And props to Lovie for giving Mankins the rock.

Hats off to Kwon. My condolences to him for this terrible chapter in his life. I can’t even fathom what he was going through. Grieving is a long process Kwon and in 7 games you have already become one of my favorite player on this team. God bless you and help you and your family get through this tragedy.

1st class move by one of the few true statesmen on the team. His presence both on the field and in the film room has been PRICELESS this year. Bet he comes back for another year.

His play certainly isn’t all-pro anymore, but there is no question that Mankins has been a huge presence in the locker room this year, helping guys both on and off the field.

Umm, I’m seeing a different Mankins than what others are seeing. We all know he’s a leader in the locker room but I think the man is playing some damn good football on the field. I love his motivation and it’s infectious. Also, what Kwon did was beautiful. Definitely rookie of the week. I already know without even looking at the nominees or the stats.

I guess he bought his BBQ.

Why didn’t the self proclaimed leader and face of the franchise Aunt Geraldine ask to do it? I will tell you why…. He was expecting to get it for finally coming through in the clutch. Great job Houdini Geraldini.

What a team full of Great people Lovie has assembled. Its very easy to cherr for these genuinely good guys.
Mankins is playing at a high level. Might get back to pineaple this year
Whole line is playing really well, but I ‘ll tell you who is biggest surprise
Donovan Smith
He is playing at a pro bowl level right now. That guy is incredibly strong, abd has the hard to find “mean streak” coaches always want.
Smith has a mean streak, and then some. Ive seen several instances of him flattening two defenders on one play!
Hes gonna beca perrienial pro bowler. Its amazing how well hes playing as a rookie
Great article Joe. Mankins should hand Kwon the ball. He is the most decorated Vet,.

Well, the Bucs haven’t won that much for Gerald to present game balls. The Pats won 80% probably while Mankins was there. that being said, Mankins has been offsides quite a bit this year, and I’d be surprised if he is here in 2016. Gerald will be an important part if the Buccos build toward the playoffs.

The Bucs have a lot of injuries now. CMac would’ve made a big difference. Atl put up a ridiculous amnt of yards. Looking forward to updates on Clinton’s health tomorrow. Currently #2 and 3 receivers both injured. Brate was the X factor. 2 DEs down against the leading rusher at the GDome. To win under those circumstances is impressive no matter the narrative..
