Kwon Gets Honored
November 2nd, 2015Bucs fans love to have their team talked about and typed about by those who work for other media outlets up to and including the four-letter.
Well, not always. When the Bucs have the worst record in the NFL, or cough up a 24-point lead, Bucs fans are not so interested in other views.
But today, Bucs fans can lean back in their chair at work, nursing an afternoon mug of coffee, comfortable in the knowledge that the Bucs are getting a lot of love around the Interwebs.
One tossing roses at the Bucs is none other than Yogi Berra-worshiping, urinal picture-taking, video game-playing, Taylor Swift-listening, pickpocket-thwarting, Bucs-uniform-frowning, Allie-LaForce-smitten, Big-Ten-Network-hating, pedestrian-bumping, olive oil-lapping, popcorn-munching, coffee-slurping, fried-chicken-eating, oatmeal-loving, circle-jerking, beer-chugging, cricket-watching, scone-loathing, college football-naïve, baseball-box-score-reading, NPR-honk, filthy-hotel-staying, fight-instigating, barista-training Peter King, of Sports Illustrated and NBC Sports fame.
The Lord of theMMQB.com selected Bucs middle linebacker Kwon Alexander as his Defensive Player of the Week.
Kwon Alexander, linebacker, Tampa Bay. He stands above all defenders after his game in Atlanta. The 21-year-old rookie middle linebacker was playing with the heaviest burden after his 17-year-old brother, Broderick Taylor II, was shot dead in a fight in Alabama on Friday night. Alexander decided to play, and came up with the best game of his young career. After an end zone interception of Matt Ryan and a long return was negated by a penalty early at the Georgia Dome, he still had two very big plays to make. He stripped Julio Jones of the ball in mid-sprint, then returned it 20 yards, leading to a field goal. And late in the first half, he picked Ryan (and it counted), returning the ball 15 yards to midfield, and setting up Jameis Winston’s only touchdown pass of the day. Alexander led all Bucs and Falcons with 11 tackles. “What this guy did today was something special,” said Logan Mankins, in presenting Alexander with the game ball after the Bucs’ 23-20 overtime win. Alexander wept as Mankins, with his arm around the rookie, spoke. “I got a lot of respect for what you did today.” Alexander paid tribute to his brother thusly: “All he wanted me to do was ball. I gave this game to him. I came out here and dedicated this game to him.” Someone asked Alexander if he thought of his brother out on the field during the game. Said Alexander: “Every play.”
As Joe stated earlier, Alexander’s play was impressive as hell, given what he is going through. Not just his play on the field.
Joe is equally impressed that Alexander knew he had a job to do and even though he may have had a higher responsibility to his family, he looked first to his football family.

Heartbreaking, inspirational, motivating…..words really can’t do justice to what Kwon accomplished yesterday. Not just for himself, his family, and his brother’s memory (which are the most important) but for the team. The way the guys in that locker room rallied around their brother….just can’t say enough and is the kind of thing that can define a season

The Buc’s nation is praying for Mr.Alexander and his family.

Everyone watching that game knew his name by the end. The way he played was truly amazing and that was before I heard the news of his brother. It is inspiring to contemplate what that man was going through and what he accomplished.

God Bless you and yours Kwon.

at only 21, kwon has just earned the right to be a defensive leader. his play is ascending and his commitment to making this franchise great is beyond question after the choice he made sunday to be with the bucs and then show up as the biggest difference maker in the bucs’ most respectable win of the season.

Kwon showed a bunch of veterans on this team what heart, passion and fire look like on the football field.
Maybe he’s the one who can step up and be the true leader of this defense, not just the face.
Go Sucs!

ElioT: what’s with the “Go Sucs” crap? How about YOU GET LOST! Kudos, condolences, and (pirate) hats off to Kwan A+. I listened on Bucs Radio to the whole game, and turned it off in O/T cos I was falling asleep. Figures, my Buc luck, I missed them winning it. Oh well, been following the soap opera for 36 years…s#### happens.
The Bucs are showing something I’ve never seen before…the creation of a for-real offense. The D and ST are slowly getting their act together. The Offense, like for real? Can we hope? 3-4 ain’t too shabby; we could have been 5-2, but Buc karma. Makes for a very interesting rest-of-the-season.

Has anyone considered that the game ball wasn’t presented to Leon by the self-proclaimed leader of the franchise?

These type of things tend to be rallying factors on sports team…
Hey Kwon if I where you I would of went to be with my family I think… So iMO you did something I don’t know that I would have…
But what impresses me beyond words my mam is the heart and passion you brought… Clearly your little bro is SO VERY PROUD OF YOU RIGHT NOW!!!!
As we all are!!!
Note: I don’t play professional sports so I have no idea how hard of a choice it most certainly was for you to make…. Then to honor your brother and INSPIRE the imaginations of your team and community earns you a special spot in all of our hearts!!!! We needed to see this from our team to believe in you guys (the way we should) again… Your teammates needed to see it to believe in themselves again….
Way to take tradgity and turn it into triumph young man…. Personally I hope you dedicate the rest of your life to your brother in this manner on and off the field…. Your a BUC FOR LIFE NOW….

GMC got 3 sacks in a game last year or the year before. Please quit ragging on one of our best players.
