It Wasn’t Just Jameis
November 20th, 2015Yes, we all heard of the over-the-top kind gesture America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, did for a young boy hospitalized in Pensacola with terminal cancer.
The boy’s final wish was to talk to Jameis, who did a bit more, even FaceTimed with the youngster. But seemingly lost in the story was that when Jameis heard about the boy and contacted him (who says social media is a bad thing?), fellow rookie, middle linebacker Kwon Alexander, was with Jameis, as was practice squad receiver Rannell Hall. So not only did the boy get to talk to Jameis, he also chatted with Alexander and Hall.
Joe is pretty confident those three made a whole lot of new Bucs fans in the Panhandle.
Yesterday, Joe and other members of the Fourth Estate got a chance to talk to Alexander about that experience. You could tell Alexander was really moved and almost got emotional discussing it.
“Oh, man (sighs),” Alexander said. “I don’t even know what to say. It was crazy. The man is fighting for his life. Seeing that man fight for his life, you think about life a lot more. Stuff that you might be mad about (shakes head), you appreciate life even more. It was crazy.
“Yeah, it brightened his day. He was real happy. Real cool. To see a smile on his face going through such a tough time, that was a blessing.”
Jameis and Alexander. Two guys, two rookies the Bucs can be proud of on the field and off.

I think America’s quarterback revealed he wasn’t the only one that spoke to the boy when he was asked about it on Wednesday, it was the 4th estate that chose to highlight just the Jameis angle. Class act by him by mentioning the other guys involved.

What a wonderful story to wake up to! My most favorite sports team, my beloved 2 top players (Winston and Alexander), brightening up the day of an ill boy in need….all in my smallish city of Pensacola. What do you say guys (Winston/Alexander)?…Let’s go one step further….lets clip those Eagles wings on Sunday for the boy and for all your ardent fans in Pensacola for that matter!!
You are forever and always my blessed Buccaneers!

I have a cousin in Birmingham….during the draft process she told me that Jameis had a wonderful reputation for these sorts of things…..she said he was known in the entire region as a great guy.

This is totally a secondary point to this story
But how cool is it that the leaders of the Offense and the Defense are hanging out together on their day off?

Sky is the limit for KWON Alexander and Jameis Winston! It’s going to be fun watching these two kids develop and reach their FULL potential!
