Bears Help Bucs’ Wild Card Hopes

How bout that bratty Jay Cutler revival in Chicago!

It’s one of the most important pieces to the Tampa Bay playoff puzzle.

The Bears (5-6) punched the Packers in the face last night at Lambeau Field, leaving reeling Green Bay with a 7-4 record and leading the Wild Card chase just 1 1/2 games ahead of the Bucs.

The sinking Falcons own the No. 2 Wild Card spot — for now — with a 6-4 record. However, the Bucs own the tiebreaker edge on them, and Atlanta hosts NFC North leader Minnesota on Sunday. (GO VIKINGS!)

But back to the Bears, they host the Redskins in two weeks, which could be a critical matchup for the Bucs. Washington (4-6) owns the tiebreaker edge on Tampa Bay, courtesy of the Capital Collapse on Oct. 25. The Redskins have to be kept down.

The Bears are a threat to the Bucs on their own, but they have two more conference losses than Tampa Bay, and conference losses are the No. 2 tiebreaker behind head-to-head games.

Of course, the Bucs host the Bears on Sunday, Dec. 27, which absolutely was a must-win game for the Bucs, regardless.

Man this is exciting! Shout out to my boy Southpark! To honestly b talking January football…this team is young we know, it would seem they have lost that loser mentality. They’re starting to believe they can beat anybody…#3 is Leonidas, and THIS IS SPARTA!
    YO JOE!
    GO BUCS!!!

  2. Patrick in VA Says:

@joe – did I miss the black Friday thing you posted about yesterday? I thought it was gonna start at 6…

  3. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

This next game, I have no idea what to predict.

But I do know that from here to the next to last game, all the games are winnable…on a good day.

There is a small chance we could go 9-7. Even if we lose this game.

  4. Rrsrq Says:

Me think the Bucs have to win the next two games against the Colts and Dirty Birds, get on the ++ side of .500

  5. BROCKTACULAR Says:

Thank you crybaby Cutler. Yeah Joe… what happened to the Black Friday Deals?

  6. Joe Cool Says:

    This picture though… XD

  7. Bucco Brice Says:

I’m more worried about Seattle moving up. Have a favourable sked. Atlanta and Seattle losses this week will be a huge boost to playoff hopes…

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We need to take care of our own business….period…it’s interesting and fun to watch other teams play and hope for certain outcomes…but when it comes down to it….we simply need to win our games.

  9. Bucco Brice Says:

we do control our own destiny…tiebreakers right now over atlanta and seattle…just keep winning 🙂

  10. Rob in Land O' Lakes Says:

I may have missed their posts, but do we need to send a search party for Realist and Dallas Buc? I haven’t seen any posts from them since before the Eagles game.

    Rob in Land O’ Lakes

They are waiting for our next loss….then they will be back.

  12. Patrick in VA Says:

@Rob – it’s pretty telling about what kind of life some of these people are leading when they have nothing to say if they can’t come on here and bash the team. People say that their criticisms are pointed toward wanting the team to succeed and that carried some weight when the team was really bad, but the team is succeeding now and these people are nowhere to be found. Hopefully they don’t start taking out their frustrations with their lives on spouses, small children and animals now that they don’t have the Bucs to beat up on.

  13. finishers Says:

    just win baby!

  14. Luther Says:

To be honest, I don’t really care about making the playoffs this year. We need a few more pieces on defense and then we can do some damage for years to come.

  15. TheShaz Says:

This is so cool. It is officially after Thanksgiving and we are talking about legitimate prospects of the Bucs playing in January. I actually forgot what this feels like. I am so used to wondering where the Bucs will finish in the rankings only to look at draft prospects.

Eagles didn’t blitz Jameis a that much. I expect that to change Sunday.

  16. Buccfan37 Says:

Three wins in a row will be above and beyond posting notice that the Bucs mean business going forward. Go Bucs! This can be a foot stomping win.

  17. GerbilsGoneWild Says:

Realist was on a few threads ago. Love the pic

  18. dreambig Says:

    Luther,
I agree, we just finally won 2 in a row. No since in getting all hyped up for playoffs until we can show some consistancy. Right now playoffs are a huge crapshoot and I suspect we are not as good as we appeared whipping up on the clueless eagles. Finishing better than 7 or 8 wins was far more than most expected coming into this year. I am just going to try to enjoy the ride and not get all pissed off if we lose. The next two games will tell us a lot. If we can win both of those … Its on baby!

  19. Bobby Says:

I would agree that we have a lot to prove in order to be talking playoffs. I think we are on the rise but we are not yet in the same class as the Panthers and until we can string together wins like the dominant teams we will be home in January. I do think we are starting to emerge as a true threat on offense. If ASJ gets healthy and Marpet comes back we have enough depth to wear defenses down if our D can continue to play at the level they have been playing at. Still, I know Jameis is a rookie and at some point in time he is going to play like a rookie and make mistakes that cost us. Having Kwon out is going to make a difference on the continuity of the defense. I’m just not as hyped as a lot of fans. I’m cautiously optimistic. Hoping, as always, for the best but realizing that we still have a lot to prove as a team.

Wow its so funny many scoffed at Lovie when he said football doesn’t start until November and now look at our Bucs who started to play better in when????????? NOVEMBER! !!!!!!!!! Now fans and even some talking heads are talking about the Bucs and playoffs in the same sentence in tge same week! What a beautiful thing!

  21. Buc1987 Says:

The Bucs are 7th seed right now. Stay tuned. Go Viqueens beat the 6th seed Atlanta Falclowns. Giants can lose one too.

The Colts to me are a very beatable team, knock on wood. Let’s go to 6-5!

Here’s why I think the Bucs will keep winning.

  22. BucTrooper Says:

Every photo of Jay Cutler looks like he’s got the flu. Every one of them.

  23. Buccfan37 Says:

Cutler is diabetic, have it long enough and it will show.

  24. Joe Cool Says:

@buc87 just look at Love’s face in that picture. Says it all….

  25. M It Smyth Says:

I personally would love for the Bucs to continue to win and make the playoffs. I don’t care about draft position now that it appears the Bucs have found their future at QB.

  26. StPeteBucsFan Says:

My wife and I have three cats and so I’m down with the critters. But that pic of Cutler is soooo effeminate!

He reminds me of Jeff George. He can sling the rock but seems to be unpopular wherever he goes.

  27. cmurda Says:

The fact that we are even talking possible ways we can get into the playoffs tells me that Lovie is proving me wrong. I was all for putting Lovie in front of the firing squad, but he has this team playing hard and is deserving of my respect. I hope we finish strong by winning 4 of 6 but I’m already happy to see the progress and the future with Famous and hopefully Koetter.

  28. ColoradoBucsFan Says:

    I say go BUCS!!!!!!
