Questions Answered
October 9th, 2015Joe fretted and often wrung his hands over the offensive line because the unit was arguably the weakest on the team.
And with a rookie Division-III guy and rookie left tackle starting, Joe feared for the health and safety of America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston.
Four games into 2015, the offensive line is surpassing just about everyone’s expectations.
Shoot, the Bucs privately weren’t even sure if Ali Marpet, the Division-III guy would be NFL-ready until October
Yesterday, Bucs wide receiver Vincent Jackson sang the praises of the two rookies up front.
“I think those questions have been answered,” Jackson said. “I think moving forward we’re very confident in all those guys. We were at the beginning of the season, but the fact that we have the live shots now and they’ve gone out there and proved it on Sundays, it’s been a big confidence boost for them as well.”
Joe never dreamed he would type the following, much less before the bye week: Could the offensive line be the strength of the Bucs?
Think about it: Four weeks in, the secondary is weak. The linebacker corps is just, well, meh. The defensive line isn’t that strong (still no consistent pass rush). Mike Evans’ struggles haven’t bolstered the receiving corps and the running game is, well, OK.
The more Joe thinks about it, the front wall of the Bucs is the strongest unit. Really.

Joe this team is so unpredictable lately. They make no sense from one day to the next. Everyone was worried about the o-line all summer long.

Hope the O line bbq glue Mankins is feeling better.

Joe
But did your BFF Steve White was critical as ever about the O line? Salivating over their bad play and downfall?
No clue what you’re talking about. Joe referenced White explaining the O-line isn’t ready for consistent no-huddle. –Joe

I re-watched the game only watching Marpet. That guy played a great game he stobe walled guys in 1 on 1, and read and adjusted to blitzers very well. He looked like our best lineman.

Well, if the offensive line is the strength of the Bucs, that bodes well for the future.

Well, if the offensive line is the strength of the Bucs, that bodes well for the future. Get that home win, Go Bucs!

Dang, that submit button is touchy. I cancelled out a split second after pushing it to add more. Too late.

“Joe this team is so unpredictable lately.”
Agree. Each week different story.
Week 1 – 2014 Bucs basically lol -terrible at everything
Week 2 – D-line plays great; Winston plays great, Brindza hits long FG / makes all of them; Mike Evans a no show
Week 3 – can’t get any pressure from line but play disciplined enough to force punts. Brindza has mental collapse and misses all his FGs. We have the most dropped passes in any game this year.
Week 4 – Winston total collapse while rest of team plays great
Week 5 = hopefully a semi-complete game lol

The Bucs have no depth on the team except the cheerleader squad!

Just because they haven’t performed like the swinging saloon doors we all expected week in and week out doesn’t mean we need to crown their ass. I have seen some poor run blocking in some weeks and spotty pass blocking. Maybe it is fair to say the most functional unit on a terrible football team. So what are we really saying?….not much.

If we can have a complete game we can win. Just like NO. That was our most error free game and we won

The most important question to answer is when will Lovie the loser be fired?
October 9th, 2015 at 10:58 am
Hasn’t Lovie been fired yet?

I’m with Charlie V.

Once we replace Cherilus and mankins with BETTER plays we’ll be in great shape. The worst pass blockers I’ve seen are Sims, Cherilus and Mankins. Sims takes the cake though he’s gonna get Jaboo hurt.
I’d have to agree that Marpet (NY REPRESENT!!) is our best lineman followed by Hawkley(?) and then DSmith.
Oh and btw our TEs can’t block for jack squat. We shoulda kept Wright, but what do I know?

11 penalties for 90 yards and 2 turnovers is our most error free game. Yikes that is really not good.

Speak English, man – you don’t make any sense.

Nice! 🙂

Joe
Not the no huddle offense story bUT the post a couple weeks ago when White gave his bull crap story about about the o line rooks. Besides, why listen to White and his analysis just adds fuel to our broken hearts fire.

Where was your criticism of the O line when Glennon was getting pulverized? Just goes to show even Generals are not always truthful or loyal.
October 10th, 2015 at 6:30 am
True, the line has done ok. The big problem has been a rookie QB that still needs training wheels…or he goes off track. He was rated 32nd this week compared to the other 31 NFL starting QBs. So, he has one direction to go…hopefully.
