Mankins Practices; Leery Of Pamphile?
October 22nd, 2015Outside of Logan Mankins’ believing in the power of barbecue, Joe can say the guy is a warrior.
Since being drafted in 2005 by the Patriots, Mankins has started 150 games and has missed little time.
In New England, he’s well known for playing through an ACL tear — multiple games.
So when Mankins missed his first Bucs game two Sundays ago with a groin problem, you knew it was bad. And then Mankins sat out yesterday’s practice and Lovie Smith sure implied Mankins was in rough shape.
But Mankins was back practicing today. Whether he goes on Sunday is still up in the air, but it’s an interesting sign.
Joe can’t help but wonder if Mankins, too, was impressed by the athletic and physical effort turned in by Kevin Pamphile in his starting debut against Jacksonville.
Mankins is due $7 million by the Bucs next season and he might be trying to protect that cash at all costs. Joe confidently can say no other team would be Mankins that kind of loot.

Of course……wouldn’t anybody be concerned about losing their job or having their financial future jeopardized?
You can best believe that only if Mankins is able to perform at a high level….he will play Sunday.
If he isn’t 100%, and there are questions as to just how good that is, he won’t play.

Is anyone interested in winning or just getting paid? Curious minds want to know.

I hope the Bucs can renegotiate that number for next season.

I say let Pamphlet play this week against the Skins and Dress Mankins in case he sucks. By doing so we can see if he can handle the 3-4 and 4-3 blitz schemes that they employ.

For a player coming into the end of his career, it is a great scenario.

Kevin Pamphile had one good game. People need to stop making assumptions about him.
