Mankins Out, Pamphile In
October 11th, 2015Tampa Bay’s depth will be tested today in a huge way.
Left guard Logan Mankins’ injured groin is not ready to go. He’ll miss his first start — and first game — since 2012, when he was a Pro Bowler with the Patriots.
The speculation is second-year tackle Kevin Pamphile, who practiced at left guard this week, will get his first regular-season time at the position.
As Joe noted yesterday, this is also a test for the evaluation skills of Lovie Smith, who has final say on the Bucs’ 53-man roster. Lovie had Patrick Omameh, who started 16 games at right guard last year, working at One Buc Palace all through training camp.
But Omameh was cut. He played 95 percent of last Sunday’s game for the Bears at left guard. It was his first regular-season action at the position, and he was solid in a Bears victory against the Saints.
Backing up Pamphile today, the Bucs have reserve center Jeremiah Warren, who has no regular-season experience at guard.

Let’s hope for the best everyone ! We will miss Logan’s experience and guidance. But maybe it is a blessing in disguise if Pamphile plays good (or even okay) today ! GO BUCS !!

Is that the same patrick omameh that is inactive for the bears today?
The bucs o line is going to be hurting without their heart and brain. Mankins is a crucial piece on this o line

Why is that loser, Michael Clayton on the Bucs pre game show? Could they not find a better representative on the Bucs glory days?

I loved the story about how Mankins’ guidance and direction has been such a crucial part of Marpet’s emergence as a rookie. So, how will Ali do without Logan’s advice today? I don’t know. I’m hopeful, but I’m very nervous.
