Center Joe Hawley and Gerald McCoy speak out

Intimate knowledge of an opponent matters little, according to many NFL players and coaches.

But there was a different vibe flowing through two Buccaneers when it comes to the Falcons.

During the bye week, Joe had a private chat with Bucs starting center Joe Hawley, who has booted Evan Smith from the starting lineup.

Hawley spent 2015 training camp with the Falcons, and was with the team five years before the Bucs signed in him September.

Hawley explained to Joe that he believes he can definitely help fellow linemen when it comes to the technique strengths and weaknesses of the Falcons. Unlike many players, Hawley didn’t discount the potential impact.

“Especially for the young linemen we have on both sides of the ball,” Hawley said, “even sometimes something small can really help, even if it’s just the heads up to identify it and study it on film leading up to the game.”

Also, Gerald McCoy was emphatic on his Buccaneers Radio Network show Wednesday that offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter has provided him with impact intelligence on the Falcons.

Bucs fans will just have to wait and see what happens Sunday in Atlanta.

hopefully the team can over come Lovie Smith’s incompetence and make a game of it. Sucks having to play two opponents week in and week out. it’s touch when the other team and your own head coach are trying to beat you.

Is EDS ready to play? Is this confirmed or wishful thinking?

  3. Waterboy Says:

I was wondering about EDS too. They don’t seem to have missed a beat without him.

Lets not forget they have AC and Mase now….sure they are tipping the dixie chickens off.

  5. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Most teams don’t need intelligence on the Bucs. Just give them enough time to beat themselves. Works wonders!

Your posts are very funny man. But you’re right. As long as Lovie coaches scared and doesn’t want to score points, we’ll continue to lose.

i wish my team could win football games and not embarrass themselves instead of having to be funny LOL…. Lovie has turned this entire team into a laughing stock with his stupid quotes and horrible coaching and personnel moves. the only thing that is scarier than watching his defense get torched is the fact that Lovie actually believes his own BS and thinks that his philosophies are still relevant in today’s league which obviously they are not. scoring is the object of the game not something to fear. teams with the most points win not the teams that go turtle

  8. scott fitzgerald Says:

Their defense already knows what plays Koetter draws up so they do have a great advantage as well

Hawley also said the playbook is pretty much the same. Thats why he was able to step right in

  10. McBuc Says:

    Cuts both ways.

All the falcons need to do is run slant pass after slant pass after slant pass….they can move up and down the field all game.
