Kwon “Rookie Of The Week”
October 2nd, 2015For the second time in as many weeks, the Bucs have the NFL’s “Rookie of the Week.”
Last week, it was America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston.
This week, it is middle linebacker Kwon Alexander, reports Joe Kania of Buccaneers.com.
Against Houston, Alexander recorded 10 tackles, intercepted a pass and deflected two more passes. Earlier in the week, the rookie said that the interception was the first he’s ever recorded at any level.
Alexander is currently the Bucs’ second-leading tackler, behind Lavonte David, with 23 tackles.
Well now, it sure seems like Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht knows what he is doing in the draft, now that he had his guys for the first time this past winter, meaning his scouting department and his staff.
First there is Jameis and then two rookies who don’t look like rookies on the offensive line, and now Kwon.
Pretty solid draft, if you ask Joe.

Yet there are those who want Licht gone. Can we please allow one regime to establish and then build upon a base? Four solid starters from one draft is huge for any team.

Tiny Tim…I concur, but how many losses does the team have to incur before we throw in the towel with L&L. Unless the Glazers see how good the drafts have been going and decide to keep Licht and fire Lovie, that’s still a possibility.
Then again some of us on here think Lovie hired Licht. I know it’s ass-backwards but.

But do they have rookie of the month?

Tiny Tim..Good Point! It seems that some want to replace anyone who had a losing season. Constantly replacing managers will only lead to more losing. I’m not happy with our team…but let’s look at the facts. They did bring in guys that didn’t fit their system..huge mistake. I get it! However, I good a the defense this year and the players look a lot better. I expect the defense to move steady up the rankings throughout the year. Furthermore, I think they are only 1 or 2 players away from have an elite defensive unit. Last year, the offensive coordinator had health issues. This year is a do over…again the stinks, but they brought in a solid play caller. This team needs to learn to win, but many of the parts are in place. No one is happy with how the L & L show has gone to date, but could we see how this team develops .

I would have preferred it if Brindza would have earned rookie of the week honors…maybe we would have been 2-1.

Your right as rain on this brother.
I too believe that Light and his staff are doing a good job with our draft picks and acquisitions they have brought to our team. Not much has worked out well with the FA from last seasons recruits, so far this season’s has been showing up at times during “games” not just on the practice field.
Congrats Kwon!

It’s not back peddling. Joe has admitted when he is wrong. That’s what men do.
BUT…I think you are wrong anyway. The only draft pick I’ve seen Joe compare about (this year) is Ali Marpet (at first). Marpet is earning his respect though.
Now..Joe, and wisely, has criticized some free agent signings or trades. I mean, come on…if you haven’t then you are blind.
And before anyone blames Lovie for the free agency and trades…try to remember that;s not actually his job. Someone else handles that aspect of things. Wonder who that is…oh yeah. Jason Licht.

“Genghis Kwon…”
You know…I like that nickname, provided he continues to earn it. We’ll see in year two for him.
Meanwhile…that word “genghis” always looks misspelled to me. (it isn’t)
