“I Gotta Stop Being So Passionate”
October 3rd, 2015Joe already shared that Mike Evans thinks Jameis Winston is so on target he might be fooling referees.
But Evans also has other theories when it comes to pass interference calls against him.
Speaking on the Buccaneers Radio Network this week, Evans said he might want to change his glove color, to get away from white, which stands out too much on opponents’ jerseys.
Evans also said his size, youth and relationships with refs don’t help him.
“It changes the way you play a little, you know, being a bigger guy, I guess I get targeted more than smaller guys,” Evans said. But it is what it is. You gotta keep playing.
“I gotta stop being so passionate [to officials]. It’s like I, I don’t get rewarded for playing passionate. You know, if a guy doesn’t say anything, they’ll get more calls, maybe. So maybe I need to tone it down. I always throw the hint at the ref, ‘C’mon ref.’ Sometimes I’m playing around, but sometimes I get a little upset that I don’t get some calls.”
Avoiding pass interference calls is a two-part process, Evans said. First, don’t do it. Second, follow advice he’s heard from Randy Moss.
“The chicken wing,” Evans said. “Use the elbow, don’t extend the arms, use your elbow, then wing off the DB.”

Passion has nothing to do with a no call when a dudes holding his arm in the endzone. Just terrible non call especially after the complete bs offensive PI and multiple defensive holding or PI they threw at us to keep Houston drives alive

Evans doesn’t get many calls because he is big and strong…..refs don’t cut him slack like a smaller WR…..he also fights back & I think that has cost him.
That call against him at Houston was rediculous.

I really like Evans, but tire of his constant complaining to the refs on the field.
He seems to whine a lot.
October 3rd, 2015 at 11:20 am
Not to beat a dead horse, but Evans does push off on occasion. After seeing his first year success I’m sure defenses have covered Mike better, hanging tight waiting for the small possible hand check push away just before the ball arrives. He is not the only one who does it, some have made a living with that slight move. He should change the color of his gloves to match each opponents jersey color. That can’t hurt, but it’s probably illegal per NFL rules.

TBBF…like Shaq used have to deal players clobbering him and not getting the call.
October 3rd, 2015 at 12:13 pm
Quit worrying about the non calls and catch the damn ball Mike. You are bigger and stronger than every DB in the league – use that to your advantage and concentrate on getting the ball secured – even if they are hanging on you. The calls will come – but refs don’t like receivers who whine constantly about non-calls. Just put all your concentration on running crisp routes and securing the ball when Jameis gets it to you and all will be well.
October 3rd, 2015 at 12:34 pm
No, Mike you aren’t doing anything wrong. The refs freaking crap on us and they will continue to do so until…. well, I think they will just simply continue to do so.
October 3rd, 2015 at 1:08 pm
Shut Up and catch the ball, it’s that simple!
October 3rd, 2015 at 1:17 pm
The saddest part about this is that I bet he’s being told to be less passionate. They doing the same to Jameis. I used to call these guys team cialis but I’m beginning to think it’s more like team castration.

Stop pushing off to get separation and u won’t get flags
October 3rd, 2015 at 1:49 pm
So many non-fans comment here. His complaints on the field are totally legit. You guys make it seem like “just catching the damn ball” with a 200 lb guy hanging on your arm is playing goddamn patty cake

The way the refs call the Bucs makes me think the NFL is fixed
October 3rd, 2015 at 2:42 pm
Howard
It’s becoming more and more obvious each week.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:24 pm
Totally agreed Howard. Something stinks and it’s going to come to light eventually
October 3rd, 2015 at 4:09 pm
It’s not fixed Bucs players need better technique. Penalties are a direct result of coaching.
October 3rd, 2015 at 5:03 pm
I always thought I was biased to the refs as a Bucs fan, but then I watched a couple games with my buddy who is a huge Pats fan. He basically said he’s never seen worse calls all against one team and missed calls. He told me it must suck to be a Buc fan and all I could say was you have no idea.

Back to the article joe wrote about the glaziers being irrelevant. Trickles down to the field including the refs. We get the lower ranked and rookie refs on a power trip.

“I Gotta Stop Being So Passionate”
I have an easy solution Mike, just emulate your head coach.

ahhhhhhhhhh….meek evans
wanna a ba-ba
October 3rd, 2015 at 11:35 pm
Take off the gloves and see if you catch better. Change the color, until you find the right color.

” I gotta stop dropping the ball. “
October 4th, 2015 at 1:27 am
Stop dropping the damn ball! That’s it, it’s all you gotta fix.
October 4th, 2015 at 8:42 am
Starting to look like Michael Clayton…..
October 4th, 2015 at 8:49 am
One game fools, one game….ya’ll are a bunch of tards sometimes. If he has a good game this week, you idiots and your “Clayton” comparisons will be calling him Randy Moss. I don’t get it.
