Barth Trolls Brindza

Takes jabs on Twitter.

Takes jabs on Twitter.

Ah, the age of social media. Only the dinosaurs, for reasons unknown, do not like social media as a whole.

Both the blessing and the curse of Twitter is that it is unfiltered. Raw emotion and candor are normally the tone of the day.

That came through during the wretched Bucs loss to the Stinking Panthers. The Mr. Magoo of NFL kickers, Kyle Brindza, who is now on a 6-of-12 kicking binge, missed his second field goal (and second of three missed kicks, again) and former Bucs kicker Connor Barth decided to troll Tampa Bay on Twitter.

.

Now before fans start pining for the return of Barth like the guy is Jan Stenerud, please note that more than a couple of kickers have lost their jobs this season and yet Barth is still unemployed.

How can that be?

Siberias QB is on the 30 int projection. Lovie going for home loss record…brutal….

  2. Bucsalltheway Says:

We traded Tim wright for hot garbage…He dropped a third and long pass in preseason and was traded for a rubber leg kicker…

  3. Bucsalltheway Says:

I’d take Murray or Barth over “Brenda” the kicker lol

  4. DefenseRules Says:

Have decided that the answer to the Bucs problems is ‘YES’.

YES Lovie has made a bunch of mistakes in his 2 years here. Some of his personnel decisions especially have left me shaking my head (Brindza over Barth or Murray? Jenkins over Verner? George Johnson over Gholston? Really?). And taking the defensive play-calling duties from Frazier baffled me. Among other things (OK, many other things).

But … it could actually be worse. If we keep switching coaches every 2 years, we’ll keep getting more of the same, or worse. Fire Lovie and we’ll end up hiring a ‘coach on the cheap’ like what happened when the Glazers fired Chucky. Plus we’ve now built a defense around Lovie’s defensive philosophies. Change coaches now and we start over yet again.

YES we lack the team identity that successful teams have. Not talking about a loser’s mentality. Of our 24 starters yesterday (offense, defense, kicker & punter) 20 of them have been with the Bucs either 1 or 2 years (including this year). That’s well over 80% of our starting team is either 0 or 1 full year in the Bucs system. (VJax, Martin, McCoy and David are the only ones with 4+ years with the Bucs).

How can there be any team chemistry in a situation like that? Reality is that the Bucs have failed miserably for years at drafting quality players AND at developing their own talent. This team is the product of years of bad management decisions. Let’s not compound it by firing Lovie & Licht and starting over yet again.

  5. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

DefenseRules, well said. But don’t expect the majority of people here to agree.

I do, but that’s just me.

  6. SchlomieBarMitzvahCircumScissorStein Says:

“We didn’t play well,” Smith said. “As far as ready? We didn’t play well. We turned the ball over early on. … The results don’t say that, but we’re better than that.”

“You can get better without it saying it on the scoreboard,” Smith said….LOL!

I wish I could tell my boss that I was getting better at my job even though the results don’t reflect it! LOL!….They’ve been getting better for the last 2 years….LOL, No home wins! LOL!

  7. Buc Neckid Says:

    Where is Murray anyways?
    Is he Unemployed and Available?
Brindza was selected due to his leg strength.
And while 50+yard field goals and Long Kickoffs are great
you have to be able to make an extra point

  8. Waterboy Says:

There were so many kickers missing field goals and extra points yesterday he should be in high demand this week.

  9. Numero Uno Bucs Fan Says:

Just for the record…I am a TRUE Bucs Fan that has had Season Tickets Since 1976 and have only missed 12 home games in all of those years. For those of you Yahoo’s that constantly berate the coaches and owners, I’d be willing to bet the majority of you are either Bandwagoners that like to follow winning Teams or certainly don’t have Bucs Season Tickets. So Blog All You want about it, but unless you live it like I do and have done, You bunch of Blow Hards are far from REAL BUCS FANS! Go back to your NE Pats or GB Packers or wherever you came from.

  10. Waterboy Says:

Murray I thought was on IR but I could be wrong on that.

  11. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Fire Lovie and cleanse the entire one buc place and Ray Jay of the infection that has permeated throughout the organization and into the afternoon airwaves of Tampa, where losing is ok, the “we will get them next week” attitude. There have been 17 next weeks where the bucs havent got em…the kicke is just another in a long line of bad personnel moves…the afternoon dawg will say jameis lost the game, coaching has lost 17 games now…i hear people say “dont switch coaches” why? we are at GROUND ZERO, we cannot get any lower…atlanta is 4-0 with a new coacha nd new system weird how that works…they beat houston like the texans stole their milk….bring in mcdaniels bring in saban but get rid of this infection it has spread too far

  12. bucrightoff Says:

That’s where we’re at as a franchise, where a kicker who can’t make a kick beyond 45 yards is trolling us. And people thought the Schiano years was rock bottom.

  13. DallasBuc Says:

By righting- good point! I actually thought rock bottom was incompetent Lovie Smith earning the organization the first overall pick by going 2-14 and then being allowed to make that pick. That rarely happens. Lesson is just when you think it can’t get any worse, if incompetent Lovie Smith is the HC you cannot find the bottom in order to mercifully hit it!

  14. DallasBuc Says:

    By righting = Bucrightoff

  15. Rob Says:

Newsflash! This team is not good. The 52nd or 53rd player on this roster is not getting this team to the playoffs. Is it unthinkable to sign a reliable kicker (Barth, Scobee, whomever) and let Mr. Magoo (great name, Joe) kickoff and attempt long field goals?

  16. 911bucs Says:

    #1
Just because you have season tickets doesn’t make you the greatest Bucs fan. Simmer down Francis

  17. JabooBuc Says:

Pretty sure it’s bad karma for a kicker to troll another kicker. Especially when said kicker had a chance to earn a spot during preseason and sh$t the bed. If we get another kicker, please don’t let it be this guy.

  18. AceofAerospace Says:

“DefenseRules”, that’s one of the reasons I want Lovie fired now. Give the interim coach a chance to show what he can do with the players we now have. You can’t make whole sale personnel changes now. With any luck, you may not need to. Either way, Lovie sucks, he can’t motivate players and he will be fired this season. He just is not a good head coach and never will be. Period.

  19. BFFL Says:

Barth is proven..just go look at his stats. who cares if he missed a meaningless preseason kick. The cheap teams just don’t want to pay his going rate so he sits back and waits until one gets desperate enough.

  20. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

    @DefenseRules

I have to humbly disagree with you when you said

“Plus we’ve now built a defense around Lovie’s defensive philosophies”

LOL We have not built ANYTHING

    Buccaneer Bonzai Says
I agree with the philosophy‎ but do you really think these two guys Lovie & licht are the right guys to get this turned around. I personally don’t. I think it would be better to go find a real football guy as president and let him do the hiring. The Glazer boys aren’t football guys. Most teams hire GM first. Then the GM hires a coach. IT seem that every time the Glazers are looking to hire someone there always asking other teams for advice. How much great advice is really going to come from the competition. Maybe they should sell the team to someone willing to do it right. It would be awesome if Licht & Lovie were the last coach & gm we ever needed but i don’t believe they will be here for long.

  22. FortMyersDave Says:

Look at what happened in Pittsburgh when their kicker lost a game: Scobee was gone the next morning. Lovie keeps Brindza after 2 bad outings. Is Lovie keeping this sieve around as a shield to use as a scapegoat later to protect himself???? Joe this is getting pathetic; Lovie needs to go if he can not get a W over the hapless Jags next sunday. There is no reason to keep him if they are 1-4 going into the bye week. If the Glazers do not fire him it tells me that they are really trying to get this team across the pond to London by alienating what is left of a once large fan base…. I say the last line partially in jest but the Glazers are trying to get permission to play 2 home games a year away from RJS and I bet they want 2 games at wembley! The baby glazers do not give a damn about winning, just about making coin and they realize that they could make as much in 2 games @ wembley as 4 home games in a half filled RJS.

  23. Buccfan37 Says:

Lovie is keeping Brindza? What the hell is going on here? Lovie is that stubborn that he will take the ship, the crew and all of the fans down to prove he was wrong.

  24. BlogTalkFootball Says:

Hire Marinelli as our head coach!

  25. orlbucfan Says:

Until we change ownership to the fans, this kind of weird, bad stuff will continue. Not a believer in karma, but sometimes I wonder. This is twice that this team has blown it, first: Houston; and now to Carolina. If Dummy Lovie had any sense, he would start Mike Glennon next week. Bench Winston and give him a clipboard cos he needs it.

  26. 813bucboi Says:

im a die hard bucs fan and that will never change…I will always route for this team week in and week out…last year was my first year buying season tickets..my brother has been a season ticket holder since 2011 so my best friend and I decided to join the club…after losing to the panthers and rams last year I said I wouldn’t go back until they won a home game…not because I was disappointed in the lost but it was too damn hot and too damn expensive to be sitting in that stadium watching your team get slapped around …yesterday my brother was so pissed off he vowed not to return unless they won at least 2 home games(which seems impossible this year)…It was so funny hearing him tell me how soak and wet he was before during and after the game…his wife complained because he was so stink and he just like myself and most bucs fans are always in a bad mood after a lost…all I could do is laugh because I told him to stay home…now all I can do is laugh at this so called football team every sunday…GO BUCS!!!

  27. passthebuc Says:

We have so much excess talent on this team that we could afford to carry 2 kickers.

  28. FortMyersDave Says:

Buccfan37: I thought Brindzda would be gone by now myself! Surely the Bucs will be calling in kickers for a tryout today, unless Lovie really is using this hapless sap as a shield. Look even if Lovie likes his strong leg, bring back Barth or someone else to do anything under 45 yards and have the kid kickoff and try the real long stuff. The 53rd spot on the roster is not all that important, perhaps Lovie can cut his buddy jenkins to free up a spot for a new kicker if he is so ****ing adamant about keeping this error prone shank artist…. It almost seems like Lovie is trying to sabotage this team and not improve it through all of this ineptitude and repetitive mistake after mistake. Did Lovie take the under on the Bucs W/L over under? Vegas Inquiry Joe (just kidding but it does seem to me that winning is not that high on the Glazer or L&L’s priority lists)…..

  29. RealBucFan Says:

Murray is on Bucs IR. Look it up. And Barth has not been signed because of his kickoff strength, not good. It’s why they kept Brindza. But points mean more than the opponent getting a few extra returns, unless Lovie don’t trust our kick coverage………..
