“There’s A Lot Of Doubt On The Sideline”
September 24th, 2015In four seasons with the Bears, new Bucs safety Chris Conte only played on one losing team. His four college years at “Cal” were the same way.
So Conte knows well the difference between a losing mentality and a winning mindset.
In Tampa, Conte said he sees that loser attitude and he said it’s tough when you’re on a team that isn’t used to winning.
“There’s a lot of doubt on the sideline because, I mean, this team has lost in almost every way possible last year,” Conte said Tuesday on Total Access on the Buccaneers Radio Network.
“There was a lot of heartbreaking games that they had that they were in. So sometimes there’s kind of a sense on the sideline, ‘Man, like, can we do this? Are we going to do this?’ “But I think everybody really pulled together [Sunday]. ‘Like hey, we’re not going to let this one slip away.’ We’re going to come out and we’re going to play strong, and we’re going to do everything we can to get this win because we have to start learning how to win.
“And I think that’s really big for this team, especially on a team that has so many young players. Really to start that tradition of winning, and that feeling of winning, so when we going into a game we’re not saying, ‘Hey, are we going to win this game?’ We’re saying, ‘Hey, we’re winning this game, there’s no doubt about it.’ And that’s a big thing for us.”
Joe sure hopes the Bucs have erased all thoughts of losing and wiped the stench of 2014 from their minds.
As Bucs fans learned through Weeks 1 and 2, only a victory can change a mentality with these Bucs. All that losing takes a toll on player, as well as fans. Hopefully, one big road win against the Saints got the job done.
Joe’s glad Jameis Winston, America’s Quarterback, doesn’t have any hint of a losing attitude. He came to Tampa oozing winner, and that hasn’t changed.

Let me encourage the real fans of this team to do there part in changing the “culture/mindset” of a loosing attitude into a winning one… Regardless of if you like or dislike someone on your team… You will only be as good as you believe you are… We as fans own the responsibility of encouraging are team as positively as possible… They are harder on themselves es more so than we will ever be… SO IF YOU DONT HAVE ANYTHING GOOD TO SAY….. DONT SAY IT…. Simple as that!!!

Approaching the corner, will be a beautiful thing once they turn it. Just wait on it. Same thing applies for this fan base. Will be a beautiful thing when it happens. Just a matter of time.

So far, Lovie has only proved that he can beat a team with major injuries and/or total disarray! All the players looking else where for coaching in the off season says a lot!!! And if Conte thinks there is “doubt” on the sidelines, check the stands buddy!!!
@Nos-Bos
Just FYI, Lovie told everyone to not to”wait on it” when he first got here!!!!

Waiting on Lovie to get out coached by Bill O’Brien

“We as fans own the responsibility of encouraging are team as positively as possible” @ JAB83
Bull Crap!!!!
I agree is good to support your team with positive energy. But as fans you have the right to vent when THEY give you a game like THEY did 2 weeks ago.
People, THEY (players and coaches) are adults getting a nice check on Fridays. That is all the support they need to give 100% effort. Adulthood means you have the brains to take care of yourself. There is no need to hold their hands or they will wilt.
So, yes lets support them with positive energy once you are ready to. If they give us another 50% effort coaching wise or by the players by all means let it all out. Otherwise, you might end up as an alcoholic or with brain damage and with broken electronics all over your house. lol
Go Bucs!!!

Chris Conte has exactly the right attitude. Love his statement “We’re going to come out and we’re going to play strong, and we’re going to do everything we can to get this win because we have to start learning how to win.”
Bucs have had a tremendous amount of turnover in the past 5 years as we all know, but it looks like we’re starting to see a nucleus evolve that’ll be here for awhile. There’s still some learning to be done for sure, but they’ll get there and be very competitive in the NFC South soon enough. Hopefully that stability extends to keeping Lovie & Licht in charge also. Changing coaches every 2 years is the kiss of death.

How many playoff games did conte win with lovie in chicago….ZERO…. Hardly makes him a winner.
sounds like more excuses to justify not playing hard and losing. the coaches can not make in game adjustments are just way too predictable and that starts with the head coach who is over his head and the game as clearly passed him bye.
Until they win consistently and play hard each week the criticism of lovie and his crew is justified. it takes more than one win against a bad team to assume everything is fixed after such an embarrassing performance against Tennessee.
all of you lovie supporters were crying it’s only one game which is inaccurate when the crapped all over themselves against Tennessee well I say the same it’s only one win against a bad team.

Tmax get use to that bald head on the side line. Ain’t going no where my friend. Realist!!! So what are your expectations for this rookie QB? Superbowl? I doubt that’s your thinking so you like me will have to just”wait on it”.
September 24th, 2015 at 9:53 am
Tampa tiny I’m sure you figured he would be out coached by Sean Payton last week right? I know I know what about what Wiz did in week one. I’ve been watching this game a long time. Might not be as easy for you but it’s quite easy for me to notice when a team is standing down for what ever reason. Again”The game is to be sold not told” homie.

Our offensive line just needs to block well and we will win more games
September 24th, 2015 at 10:27 am
I hope with everything in my being that lovie and this defense can outcoach and out play their opponents consistintly! But I have to see it to beleive it at this point.

A win is a win…you have to start somewhere folks. It is going to be tough to get that winning mentality back. From the sidelines to the stands it takes one win at a time…pulling up the big boy pants and winning again. We tried very hard to lose last week but the Defense stood up and said no. Now the example has been set. The team needs to buy in to winning..the fans need to hold their heads up and do the same. Heck I’ve been around for the entire 40 years and I do know it will be a hard row to hoe but we need to believe. This year is the start, we may not have a winning season but if can become competitive week to week, find a way to win, stop folding in the 4th quarter, slowly steadily we will become a team to fear again. (okay, I finished a fresh 6 pack of Pewter Kool-Aid) GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@nole- Lovie is 3-15, once he consistently leads this team to competitive football and wins he gets my respect. O’Brien is 9-9, and how many games can you honestly say Lovie out coached anyone?
I love winning more than being right so I’d love to see Lovie be a success
September 24th, 2015 at 11:07 am
We’re saying, ‘Hey, we’re winning this game, there’s no doubt about it.’ And that’s a big thing for us.”
If only the fans would change their thinking as well. I firmly believe the fans effect the team. If the fans are positive, the players are too. I know plenty of people won’t agree with me, but it’s what I believe.
If Tampa Buccaneers fans want change for the better, it has to start within.

The players listen to sports radio. They hear the comments of the fans. They are effected by them.
The power of life and death are in the words of the fans. It’s a responsibility to speak life.

Wise words Bonzai. Tony we’ll see on Sunday bro. My money on my guy. Screw every other HC in the league.
September 24th, 2015 at 11:26 am
I listened to that lengthy interview with Conte on the radio, enjoyed it too.
September 24th, 2015 at 1:00 pm
I love that Conte was confident enough to say this! It’s something we’ve all felt and witnessed for quite awhile.
And sorry Tmax this isn’t about Lovie. Ultimately it’s about the Glazers. Bring in Chucky and Bruce Allen as well if you wish. People also like to bash on Dominik.
But this team has been going downhill since Chucky finished with that four game losing streak that ended his tenure as Bucs coach. How many playoff games did Chucky win in his six years afte the Super Bowl? He only reached the playoffs twice in those six years and lost both games. And so Tmax are you as down on Chucky? His record btw in those six years was 45-51!!!
I’m neither a Chucky basher nor supporter but if Lovie can just go 9-7 this year he is on target to catch Chucky who had one year of 4 wins and another 5 win season.
I think Sunday will say a lot about Lovie’s job security. If the team plays well and shows the same fire as last Sunday he’ll be fine. Apparently the “professional consensus” is that we have enough talent to win six and so that’s the benchmark I’ve set. He MUST win six barring major injury..like both #3 and #8 going down. I believe he has 8-8 talent and I’m on the record as believing we can win ten if we make it through the first part of the season.
September 24th, 2015 at 1:59 pm
I will say this…the addition of Conte was a very good move. He’s played well for us.
September 24th, 2015 at 2:35 pm
@nole…I like us every sunday too…streak..thats what its all about gentlemen….GO BUCS!!!
September 24th, 2015 at 2:37 pm
I disagree that fans should always be positive and unconditionally supportive of their teams. I believe that fans should demand excellence from their teams. When teams are as dysfunctional as the Bucs have been since Gruden was fired, fans should be outraged and they should be calling for changes in leadership, and after enough changes in leadership, changes in ownership.
In any case, neither the unconditionally-positive fans nor the demanding fans are the problem. We’re all in the stands, watching on TV, or otherwise supporting the team. It’s the fair-weather apathetic fans that are the problem, and winning is the only cure for that illness.
If the Bucs want the entire community to get behind them again like the Dungy and Gruden eras, they will have to put together a first-class organization, win some games, and set expectations of greatness.

Fans are the only part of a team that never changes… Why??? Because your fanatic… If you are not involved in decision making you have to support the choices that are made… Love it or hate it… Otherwise your effect is division…. End of story… Voice your concern but lend your support…. True of everything team orianted…. Simple as that!!!

tmaxcon Says: How many playoff games did Conte win with Lovie in Chicago….ZERO…. Hardly makes him a winner. Playing four seasons with the Bears and only having one losing season means he was on a winning team. Chis Conte is a winner by the way he plays football. He has more heart as he showed last Sunday by setting the example with his hard hitting, smash mouth style of football. When you hear him talk one gets the impression that he is a humble soft spoken gentleman who leaves it all on the field. He had an INT, and a forced fumble. He has 8 tackles with limited playing time in the first game. He also has 3 “stuffs” and has been thrown at 4 times with 2 receptions. With that said you call yourself a Buccaneer fan by saying he not a winner? A winner is a person who does not judge someone else to define if he is a winner or not.

u know some of our Fans Make me Sick, Especially some of the ones who commented Here, I will not call anybody out but, what JAB83 said is 100% correct, as a Fan Base We Owe it to Our Team to be Supportive and not act like a Bunch of Jack Asses…
yes it would Be Nice for them to win More Obviously, but the problem hasn’t Been the Coachs or even the players, it is and Always Has be The Glazers we win a Super bowl and then they Dismantle the Entire Team thst got us there but leave Brad Johnson here, that was a Joke and told everyone they didn’t want to Win…But anyway that’s a whole other issue, One Comment from above was total BS from a Guy that Has no idea what he is Talking About says something about 50% effort and collecting a check, Hey Moron they Are Pros they want to win when they step on the Field, there are Tons of Teams with a Historically Bad Teams, but Has a Great Fan Base they don’t trash the team like some of u Morons, to the True Buccs Fans that Bleed Pewter I say Thank You and all u Doubters I say watch this Team u love to Rag on win the Division and Make a Run for a Ring!!
