The Touchdown “Nod”

September 26th, 2015

jameis 0818You want on-field chemistry? You want a quarterback whose mind is as big as his arm?

You might want to listen to Mike Evans.

The Bucs’ stud wide receiver joined Total Access on the Buccaneers Radio Network and described the genesis of Jameis Winston’s brilliant touchdown throw to Vincent Jackson on Sunday in New Orleans.

“On the touchdown to V-Jax, [Jameis] called that before we even broke the huddle,” Evans said. “He was like, ‘Vince, if they give you the coverage that we want.’ And then we got out there and lined up. He nodded at V-Jax — V-Jax nodded back. Touchdown. It was something to see. Great throw. Great catch. It was great watching him grow up before our eyes.”

And the legend of America’s Quarterback grows. The guy’s already calling plays and silently communicating with receivers.

Mariotta got most of the early buzz, but it seems like people are settling down now and are starting to take Winston’s game more seriously.

Reminds me of RG3 an Luck when they first came in. Initially, all the buzz was for RG3, but he;s not even able to start now. Luck, although he’s thrown a few too many interceptions, is clearly the best quarterback out of that class and looks like the best bet for top young NFL quarterback (although I’m sure Winston will have his say before too much longer).

  6. DallasBuc Says:

I am impressed with Winston so far. He seems to be taking his coaching well, bonding with his teammates and earning their respect as well through his dedication. It is too early to expect the benefits of all that to show up on game day but if it does that’s great. The early miscues were painful to watch but ultimately better for his development. Just hope the teammate Winston with the great work ethic and attitude continues because it will payoff huge in a year or two.
Now if only Incompetent Lovie Smith can field a competetive defense week in and week out and have the team prepared to compete consistently we might have a little fun watching our young QB develop.

  7. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Now if only you Animosity Amigos can get off my HC n@$ sack we’ll all be fine. I can hear your type now A.A. dallas,we’ll soon become a perennial playoff team and your type will sound like idiots proclaiming its a result of great QB play from young QB. As if a HC wouldn’t played a part in the result at all. Let me remind you,I love the fact that that darkness on the side line bothers you so greatly. You’ll be eating your f@$!in heart out for years. Cry a river mofo. I’m waitin on it.

  8. DallasBuc Says:

Nole- your incompetent HC needs to win more than 2 games a season and stop getting his doors blown off by the likes of other 2-14 football teams before garnering the respect that you seem to think he deserves. Most honest observers agree that the outcome last week would have been in serious doubt if Brees had been playing healthy. That is the game though and a win is a win. I give Lovie Smith full credit for that and will take it any day.
Now if I were a smarter fella I’d think you were pulling out your race card again in those last comments. Apparently you still can’t stomach criticism based on professional merit alone and feel need to go to that well when you can’t defend an argument based on simple football facts. Same old story. Yawn.
    Go Bucs.

  9. LargoBuc Says:

Yea lovies defense has to stop Mallet to show some consistencey. Then we can proclaim that our defense should be able to stop so and si

  10. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Criticism my a$$ guy I wonder what your opinion would have been if Gruden had to come in and build a team with the personnel needed to operate how he seen fit. I’ve brought up other coaches and their year one accomplishments on more than one occasion reason being it clearly takes a little time. Your response everytime I’ve mentioned Jimmy Johnson is”you’re not a cowboys fan”as if for some reason you’re not understanding the correlation that I’m making. Incompetent for a man that has more than 50 wind in the NFL doesn’t make since in my book guy. Seems to me have hidden message in your daily use of the word. But like I said before it gives me great pleasure knowing his presence displeases you and your cronies so greatly.

  11. DallasBuc Says:

Nole- when you look up the word incompetent in the dictionary you see the definition for African American. Therefore, no matter what I say you have already made up your mind based on your own special definition of terms. It’s attitudes and perspectives like this that hold us all back. As a minority in this country I have seen this phenomenon first hand within my own community and family and it saddens me. I am fairly certain that Lovie Smith’s record as Bucs HC fits closer to the accepted definition of incompetent and not your definition.
    Go Bucs

  12. Buc1987 Says:

    Darkness?

  13. DallasBuc Says:

For the record, if you sign Trash McCown with the intention of starting him you are automatically known to be incompetent. Race is not a factor in this equation.

  14. Bird Says:

Dallas Buc. Much props. U are still a moron!

  15. DallasBuc Says:

Bird- is this you thinking a thought all the way through?!!!

  16. Howard Cosell Says:

We’re due for some good luck I think.
We’ve had some catastrophic bad luck the last two years.
Schiano had Freeman and MRSA (which also led to the end of a good
kicker and superstar Carl Nicks). Lovie had the Tedford debacle.
When has an NFL team ever lost an OC in June and not replaced him?
    Just once: The 2014 Bucs.

The football gods work in mysterious ways. Maybe it was all part of the plan.

  17. Bird Says:

    Yup. Ur an idiot

  18. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Quite the contrary guy it’s clearly what you see when you open the dictionary bright guy. Do your home work,my kind is responsible for way too many aspect of your everyday life to ever be associated with incompetence bright guy. Now out you wanna talk about some of the activity that happens in the hood well that’s whole nother conversation. For the sake of this one you show your incompetence with daily use of the word in reference to an individual that has been successful in the league homie. 87 has tried to school you smart guys on many occasion when he said McCown was the tank. I think anyone with a semblance of intelligence can decipher what he’s saying. A sentiment that I agree with.

  19. Buc1987 Says:

Nole we had fans on here saying far worse about Schiano than they do about Lovie and I don’t think it was because Schiano was Italian. I could be wrong though.

  20. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

I wasn’t around then but are you telling me that you all referred to him as incompetent everyday? If I were Italian I would’ve probably thought you guys were insinuating something else. Especially seeing as how it’s a field that he was in and no one on here has proven at any time to have been a head coach themselves. What makes us experts in the matter. Do we defind competency by merely wins and losses?

  21. DallasBuc Says:

Nole- the whole point of this long and painful civil rights movement was to see people judged for who they are and not the color of their skin. It was never caveated with the stipulation that only if that judgment is positive. An injustice is done to the movement when you assume that a negative judgement based on merit instead of skin color is regarded as racism. Take your example. If Gruden had been an NFL HC for ten years after several years of position and coordinator experience and becomes the Bucs HC, makes the same poor decisions and evaluations that Lovie did and I regarded him as Incompetent Jon Gruden after a 2-14 embarrassment my guess is you would be 100% behind me and his skin color would never come up.
I am fairly certain that Lovie Smith himself would prefer me to judge him on his professional merit and not judge him favorably or otherwise because he is a black man.
Bottom line, a veteran NFL HC that is responsible for the litany of bad decisions, evaluations and coaching is deserving of a judgement commensurate to his record as Bucs HC. Incompetence is what it says to me.
BTW, this is also why your Jimmy Johnson reference doesn’t work. He was a rookie NFL HC and was great at decision making, talent eval and winning football games, including championships. See the difference? It’s called professional merit.

  22. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

If it were Lovie sucks or Lovie is bum I would be like okay I get it. But in my opinion incompetent for a guy that has as many wins in this league that he has is saying something more. Just my opinion,it’s like do these same people say Belichek pre Brady was incompetent no,they speak of him like a football God. My belief is Belichek benefited more from Brady than the other way around. Lovie now has a promising young trigger man,but some won’t give him the time necessary to see what his story will become as result of it. They say dumb chit like”when he starts winning more then I’ll lose the incompetence moniker “. It is my personal opinion Dallas that you say that about him because he is a black man. My personal opinion.

  23. DallasBuc Says:

Nole- Clearly that is your opinion. It is an opinion that puts skin color above professional merit. It’s a victim hood mentality that holds us all back and that sucks but it’s your opinion and your right. I guess that just makes the whole conversation much easier for you that defending a man’s professional record such as Lovie’s as the Bucs HC. Indefensible really.
Pull the race card, that’s much easier and you can always look like your winning an argument because racists are bad! What a strategy.
    Sorry man.
    Go Bucs

  24. Howard Cosell Says:

    Get a room, guys.

  25. DallasBuc Says:

Howard- I’m trying my best but this is a racist!

  26. Buc1987 Says:

    “Somebody, please help him!”

“I think my dad’s gone crazy!”

  27. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Okay guy his professional merit is that of an over all winning Head coach. Now you can slyly add into that last post”as the Buccaneers head coach” all you want. The basis of my argument is not primarily what he has accomplished his time here in Tampa but his total professional coaching career. I give a chit about winning this menial debate. Y’all attack him,I’m defending him simple an plain guy. Today, tomorrow freaking Infiniti long as he’s the Buccs HC homie. Talking that racist bull chit.

  28. Buc1987 Says:

    Darkness??

  29. DallasBuc Says:

Pull the card out, flash it around, then put it away when called out. We should call it the new American Express card.
But yeah, can we talk about football again?

  30. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Ready to talk about it again whenever you are guy. I’m waiting on it.

  34. Buc1987 Says:

Nope Nole….I screwed it up and posted the wrong link. Damn it that pissed me off….too funny when I watch the 7 second clip.

  35. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

I watch both, enjoyed listening to the late great bad a$$ Rick James. Might of been mistake, but good look anyway.

  36. Bird Says:

Still same message. Dallas Buc. Your long messages is a long garbage piece of poo. Go ahead and respond back

  37. bucsbedabest Says:

Does anyone truly believe that if Lovie Smith was incompetent, he would still be the HC? If someone chooses to call someone incompetent, it is there opinion. Is that not why we write comments on this site, to express an opinion? In reality Nole was calling DallasBuc a racist. Then DallasBuc followed up by calling Nole a racist. If a person pulls out the race card it is a reflection of the person who wrote it. The question then becomes if the person who calls the person who pulled the race card a racist, are they both racists? No. Why? Because the one who pulled the race card was simply trying to make a point that when a person calls someone incompetent and has nothing other than McCown to back it up, sounds like they have a bias because the person is a man of color? Lovie is far from incompetent and Nole and DallasBuc are not acist. So what, who cares.

  38. DallasBuc Says:

Um, Bird it had been some 5 hours for your once again inane comment to surface predicting my response. Incomprehensibly strange.
And Bucsbedabest, no offense but you were either skimming or some other variation of comprehension to equate the charges leveled. I doubt anyone gives a sht but once in a while there should be a shred of truth behind heinous accusations that are leveled so cavalierly.
    Go Bucs
