Prisco: Miserable 2015
September 10th, 2015The way the predictions for the season are rolling in from national talking heads and stenographers covering the NFL, Bucs fans are going to want to shove their heads into a groundhog hole.
None other than prickly Pete Prisco of CBS Sports has thrown in his two cents. He too believes the Bucs will be woeful.
Prisco picked the outcome of every game on the NFL schedule and he has the Bucs winning but three games. And Joe is guessing, that puts the Bucs right in the hunt for the Bolt for Bosa campaign.
How hideous does Prisco believe the Bucs will be? He has them losing to the dregs of the NFL, such as the bumbling Jags and the rotten Redskins. In fact, Prisco has the Bucs going a full two months midseason without recording a win, from Oct. 4, after beating the Stinking Panthers 20-17, to Dec. 6. That’s when the Bucs, Prisco believes, beat the Dixie Chicks 20-17.
Prisco’s only other win? This Sunday against the toothless Titans.

Didn’t last year at this time, most people had the Bucs to be a team on the verge and likely a playoff team?

Prickly Pete Prisco pulls putrid predictions painfully past pooter.

Hard to disagree with him. Still no pass rush. Still a leaky offensive line. Rookie quarterback with sloppy fundamentals and a mistake-prone mentality. Injuries piling up. I have my fingers crossed and a case of whiskey at the ready. Yar!
September 10th, 2015 at 10:21 am
Oh, and toss in an outdated defensive scheme and a boneheaded coach who refuses to adjust.
September 10th, 2015 at 10:26 am
We’ll see. I predict 6-8 wins and I think the majority will come later as the team gels IF we stay healthy. If we have a lot of injuries then all bets are off, especially on the O-line.
September 10th, 2015 at 10:36 am
Not sure where he gets us beating the Titans from. The rest of us know that’s not happening.
September 10th, 2015 at 10:37 am
I don’t see why this is such an outlandish prediction… for whatever Jameis might grow to become, he’s about to take his first NFL snap.
Teams with rookie QB’s don’t typically win a lot of games, even first overall QB’s. I hope this is the exception, but expecting a bunch of wins this year strikes me a silly.
September 10th, 2015 at 11:01 am
I think setting the over/under at 3 wins is just about right. The offensive line is worse than last season, the QB is a turnover-prone rookie gunslinger, and there doesn’t appear to be anyone who can rush the passer from the outside. With a few decent breaks, the Bucs could win 4 games, but they’re just as likely to win 2 again in my opinion. It all depends on how Winston handles the physical pounding, turnovers, and mounting losses.

@Joe
tnew made an excellent point! Last year at this time we were the darlings this year we’re the bums.
Can you guys help? I tried to google and search but came up empty. Do you guys have any info or a way to post LAST YEAR’S PREDICTIONS.
I would absolutely love if Joe or a poster could come up with a chart…EG.
Rich Gannon’s 2014 prediction for the Bucs compared to 2015.
I would truly love to see the 2014 predictions beside the 2015 predictions.

Nobody KNOWS and effing thing about how ANY of these games turn out. It’s ALL SPECULATION
Apparently even though there is NO FACTUAL evidence to back up these claims..ONLY opinions…it must be far more fun for some here to be negative than positive. I get the reason for “guarding” your optimism but to go so full bore negative just blows my mind!
The Cowboys drafted an OL last year who was one of the stars of the league.
Again there is precedent guys. Choose which precedent you wish to believe.
Indy..KC going 2-14 to 11-5..one with a rookie QB the other with a QB who was dumped by his team after they wasted a high draft pick…or 30-70. Take your pick. Positive or negative?….”It’s really that simple”!!!

@St Pete- Google 2014 NFL predictions
2014 Predictions
Prisco-6-9-1
Pat Kirwan 9-7
Yasinskas 8-8
USA Today 3-13
Cowherd 6-10
It’s a crapshoot with predictions but with 2-14 does anyone really expect to get the benefit of the doubt from analyst?
September 10th, 2015 at 11:54 am
@Tony
As Pablo might say…Muchas Gracias.
Not exactly accurate were they. 🙂 Then again to use an old Sam Wyche observation the Bucs did snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in 3 or 4 games and they could have easily won 5-6 with last year’s dreck.
So Prisco and Cowherd may not have been that far off.

Speak for yourself. I have this game marked down as one of their 5 wins this season.
September 10th, 2015 at 12:22 pm
Frankly, if all these media types predict a bad season, I’m happy. Cause it usually goes the opposite way for the Bucs.
September 10th, 2015 at 12:36 pm
No need to respond to Mark StPete. He is just being a troll. There is one game on the schedule that is basically a pick’em game and that is the Titans game. I have the Bucs winning four and TN is one of them. StPete, you need to lower your expectations though. This is still a very bad football team. We are a slight underdog playing at home against the 2nd worst team last year. Las Vegas does not play favorites. They use analysis to set their predictions and spreads. The Bucs are not be favored to win a single game right now. teams like this don’t typically win 10 games.

Year after Year I see the dorks on this site think the Bucs I mean Yucs will actually do something, I guess you people are delusional.. The Bucs suck have for 10 years now, will for another 10… Why?? First of all bad decision after bad decision, Jameis Winston will go down as the biggest bust in NFL History when it is all over, yes even ahead of Jamarcus Russel… The Bucs play in front of 40,000 at best per Sunday. Why? Because no one cares about the Bucs, everyone is this area has aliance to other teams… Our offensive line could not hold up against many college teams and it shows, 2 wins last year, 3 the year before, LMAO… Unstable environment and dysfunctional, 4 coaches in the last 7 years and 3 GMS… This team is no fun to watch they cant score, cant stop the run or pass and have below average players at every position but WR AND LB…. Yet you lonely people hang on to every Joe Bucs fam article and comment several times .. Kind of sad really, go make some friends, get a girl and go off the net…

Dave the JBF spammer. Talks about us needing to get a life in his constant spamming of his rant since yesterday. Yet we’re the ones that need to go out and get a life?
Hey Dave why don’t you go out and get a job? You seem to be posting this at all different times of the day. Which leaves you no time for a job.

The Bucs have way more talent than 3-13.

Saying they ‘could have’ won 5-6 close games can also be looked at as ‘they were lucky the game ended when it did, or they would have lost by double-digits’.
I am all for being optimistic. That is why I have the Bucs winning three games. ;^)
There are those, in here, who have compared Winston to Luck. Luck took a bad 2-14 team and went 11-5, as a rookie. I hope they are right.

I dont see a team void of talent. I see a team that, like most teams in the league, have strengths and weakness. Its just that some teams gets their strengths over looked and all the focus is on the weakness and vice versa. Our weakness is Tackle, Guard, defensive end, safety and tight end. Our strengths are reciver, running back out and inside linebacker. I think we have upgraded at quarterback(albeit with a rookie gunslinger) and we have a bit more depth at corner. So it really depends on how we match up schematically with 13 other teams.
Against Tennessee, their front seven has an edge against our line in the passing game. But our receivers far outmatch their secondary, and still should even if, heaven forbid, Evans is out. But I like our line alot better in the running game. I think their three down men will struggle stting up gaps, especially with Doug Martin running through them.
On defense, their line isnt much better than ours and they dont have a stud back to help them out. No reason not to stop the run and put it all on Mariota. Our corners arent the best but they should do work agsinst a receiving core headlined by Harry Douglas. Our safeties hwve to focus and get a step when the receiver goes deep. We have so much speed at linebacker, Mariota will not be able to check down all game and will have to make some NFL throws against us.
The key to this game will be Jameis executing and I expect Koetter to have a damn good game plan for week one. And this team better not come out flat and tired like they have the past two week one’s. If so, we seriously need to find some new leadership.
