Louis Murphy: Jameis Is Canton Bound
September 21st, 2015Well this didn’t take long. Just hours after winning his first NFL game, America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, is being measured for a bust in Canton.
That’s the word from Bucs wide receiver Louis Murphy.
Hours (minutes?) after the Bucs secured their first win of the season against the Saints, Murphy told Fox Sports Radio that Jameis will soon be an NFL immortal.
“For sure, man, Jameis is the No. 1 pick, he’s the No. 1 (rookie) quarterback. He’s going to have a great career, he’ll do great things, set records and I believe he’s going to be a Hall of Fame player,” Murphy told FOX Sports by phone from a victorious locker room. “You can’t put the carriage before the horse. He’ll be fine.”
Strong words there, but you know what? Jameis is doing behind the scenes just what he did at Florida State. He has won over his entire team.
Vincent Jackson raves about his work ethic. So too does Gerald McCoy. Receivers seem to swoon over him. Remember the words of Kenny Bell from training camp?
And now we have a wide receiver saying Jameis will be a Hall of Famer.
Players, teammates, wouldn’t say these types of things about a slug or a guy who didn’t have the work ethic or the passion for football Jameis has.

Oh Lord. It’s a bit early isn’t it.

Survey says; Just wait on it.😉
September 21st, 2015 at 9:06 am
I just hope he can be above average. Depends on coaching
September 21st, 2015 at 9:06 am
I sure hope so! But let us not get crazy here. Last week Mariotta was anointed the next Tom Brady….yesterday he looked like Ryan Leaf. Both these guys are going to have many up and down games.
September 21st, 2015 at 9:07 am
He;s no different than any QB, give him time and he has a chance, bury him under pressure and not even Aaron Rodgers can win.
September 21st, 2015 at 9:10 am
Hmmm, who’s opinion should I value? Supersam who is most likely 16 year old fantasy football nerd who has never thrown a football in his life. Or, a current NFL WR that has played several NFL teams over many years in the NFL? Not sure yet, but bet I can figure it out.
September 21st, 2015 at 9:13 am
At this point, Jameis is no more a “Hall of Famer” than he is “America’s Quarterback”. Ridiculous.
September 21st, 2015 at 9:19 am
Too early to tell. Should it come to pass I will surely love the ride!! Go Bucs!
September 21st, 2015 at 9:19 am
I’ve read quite a bit of O line bashing here, they perform well and no love? Wow,give it up for coach Warhop. America’s offensive line coach. And continue waiting on it.

I am shocked that Murphy said that??? Way to early to say something like that. I certainly hope that Jameis’s career heads him towards Canton!!!!
But whatever you do, do not look at MG8’s second game and compare it with JW3 stats who, Murphy says he is on his way to Canton!!!
September 21st, 2015 at 9:22 am
………………this is pointless
September 21st, 2015 at 9:23 am
Hmmmmmmm, I do recall Vincent Jackson declaring Josh Freeman a top 5 quarterback:

Players play, they are not talent evaluators
September 21st, 2015 at 9:26 am
I love the “you can’t put the carriage before the horse” statement after proclaiming Jameis a HOFer. I’ve long supported Jameis, and while I quietly think he can be in Canton some day I’m not going to ‘put the carriage before the horse’ and proclaim it after his second NFL game.
But as Joe correctly points out, it means he’s won over the locker room, and that’s definitely a good thing.
September 21st, 2015 at 9:38 am
But what about CRAB LEGS, hmmmm?!?!?!
Also, he didn’t show up to the draft, and he snubbed ESPN after the draft even though he didnt really snub them. What about that, hmm?
And then he tweeted out a photo with CRAB LEGS that he received for charity work. How soon we forgot.
Also, look at how fat he is. I mean was that Jameis Winston quarterbacking for the Bucs yesterday or Gabourey Sidibe? hmmmmmm?

Big win in a tough environment…I believe in Winston, nobody’s gonna out work this kid…That said, Im not ready to put him in the HOF just yet…but the was a HOF throw he made to V-Jax for the TD…nice, very nice and Kudos to the defense as well for helping the rookie QB get his 1st of many W’s
September 21st, 2015 at 10:07 am
Tom, good point but neither are the idiots that post on this site. If given the choice, I’ll take a players opinion over you or anyone else every time. And, BTW, at the time it looked as though Freeman was on his way to a very good NFL career. Don’t think anyone can predict someone losing their desire to play.

Feels good man. Dats my quartaback
September 21st, 2015 at 10:20 am
Jameis for president. He’d be better than what we got now.
September 21st, 2015 at 10:46 am
Creamsicle- nothing about your comment makes any sense. It could not be more clear that you have no idea what you are talking about.
September 21st, 2015 at 10:50 am
Fsuking-
that was kind of the point
September 21st, 2015 at 10:51 am
Its a ridiculous statement that I think even Jamies is probably getting a chuckle out of, but the arrow is definitely pointing up after yesterday. If only the coach would have had the balls to put his foot on the opponents throat and let Jamies finish off the Saints instead of pulling off the dogs.
September 21st, 2015 at 10:53 am
The receivers have confidence in their QB. Thats awesome. That’s all i’m taking here.
September 21st, 2015 at 10:56 am
Obviously premature. But he clearly has the appearance of a franchise QB!!
That’s all we need…and a great team to go around him if we want another SB.
I have NFL ticket on Direct and sadly boys..MM did NOT have a horrible game.
Why can’t you people let it go? What we saw from yesterday’s Tenn Cleveland game is that you can’t spot another team 14 and have to come from behind all day. Johnny Football threw a 50 yard bomb and Benjamin then came right back with a 78 yard punt return.
Mariotta got no protection..was sacked SEVEN times but threw no ints!! He was driving inside the 20 when he got sacked and stripped. Did he play great? Nope. Did he play that poorly not really.
Let it go! What we have learned from two games is that BOTH of these players were worth the high draft choices. They BOTH ‘appear’ to have great careers ahead of them. One’s success or failure has nothing to do with the other. The draft debate was settled months ago. Why continue to obsess over it.
This will be my last post defending MM. 87 talks about MM clingers…that works both ways..some are clinging to the hope that the Fameis selection will be vindicate if MM sucks. That’s simply untrue. The Fameis pick will be vindicated by Fameis and NO OTHER PLAYER!!! Same for MM. He’ll be judged on his own play not Fameis.
From here forward I’m only going to post about the Bucs QB and that is not MM. If MM was on our bench like MG8 then the debate might be valid. Playing for a team not even in our conference much less division he’s now irrelevant…unless we meet him in the SB. Then we can debate.

Mariota did throw Interception but got lucky because of DLine penalty
September 21st, 2015 at 11:04 am
Hey even Johnny Football played well yesterday, as he learns the pro game. Two great bombs right on the money.
Borttles and Carr also, in their second years.
Takes a little time people!
I get the feeling Jameis is a fast learner and has the talent and work ethic that is needed.
That pass to Murphy ought to get every bucs fan in this town excited.
September 21st, 2015 at 12:08 pm
@Eric
Agree and I believe Fameis is way ahead of both Jfootball and Bortles and in fact I believe he has a lot more upside.
September 21st, 2015 at 12:55 pm
Murphy is right, Jameis will make it in the hall of fame if his O-Line can block well
September 21st, 2015 at 8:15 pm
CreamsicleBananaHammock Says – Go to your Saints website. Murphy is saying what every third receiver would say….so Jameis throws more to him!
