Joe Talks Alfred Blue, Defensive Intolerance, Fetal Position, Lovie Life, Falcons Fever & More

September 30th, 2015

Duemig2It was time for Joe to jump into the steel cage again with the dean of Tampa Bay sports radio, Steve Duemig of WDAE-AM 620.

A heated evening was in store.

Enjoy.

[Now, now, now… You know Joe’s rule about getting personal in attacks on WDAE-AM 620 on-air personalities. You can disagree without namecalling. Normally, this is a banning offense, but Joe is in a charitable mood tonight. — Joe]

That was good joe’s – I liked the sewer coming up for air bit..lol.. Go bucs..

The acceptance of suck is pathetic in this town. Why are expectations so casually low? Like it’s perfectly okay to lose over and over again as long as some glimmer of progress is made every week..

At this rate we might make the playoffs in 15 years..

Joe I stated the same thing Steve is stating after the game that I felt the problem with our kicker was the turf. It seemed to me that the closer you got to the end zone the better the grip which I think caused the problem for the kickers.

The issue with 2nd long kick he tried he over compensated and the turf was better for the kickers since it was more worn down. This is since they were running most of the plays in this area. Given that he is a rookie kicker he wasn’t ready to compensate correctly which is why he hooked it.

I only caught the first half of your time on the radio last night, so will listen to DBrooks plus your second half later today.

But I don’t see improvement on the defense. And I don’t buy the argument that “these players haven’t played long together.” That’s today’s NFL…nearly every team has big turnover every year. The defense can’t get off the field, they aren’t getting pressure and the run defense is horrible. And it was obvious that Houston stinks.

Offensively, yes, we kept Jameis upright. But we still scored only 9 points. In today’s NFL, you have to almost try to score those few points.

I still believe that 5 or 6 wins is possible and that would represent a step forward. And their schedule doesn’t scare me — except for Atlanta, which terrifies me.

How many times did Schiano say? : “we”ll get this fixed”

Biggie believes Lovie, but not Schiano. O. Okay.

I’m proud of Joe for standing his ground with the stuttering-stammering-Scott Brantley-fist-receiving-circular-logic-rationalizing (“you are what you’re record says you are,” except in Lovie’s case) show host.

  8. Mike Johnso Says:

Every week Lovie says, We will make the corrections. But his Defense truly sucks. Seems like after a major A.. Whippin, we play better? I wanna know where is our Defense. Do we have one? Did any of you watch that 4th qtr against the Texans? We gave out of gas. Tampa Catholic HS could have scored on us!! Its like we say, Go ahead and catch the ball for 20 yards. And we will make a tackle..maybe. I’m tellin yas all. If we do not contain Cam Newton. He’s gonna be doing his little boastful dances all over Ray Jay. And there will be nothing we can do about it. God, I loathe Cam. But so far this yr, he’s..lighting them up!!

  9. Tampa Tony Says:

So what the big dog is saying it takes time for Lovie’s system but not all the other teams that have new coaches or coordinators? Sigh.

The excuses for Loser Lovie are getting longer and longer

Sorry Joe, I agree with Steve on a lot of his points. The Bucs front four could not get to Mallett all game. Which opened up the run. Gap responsibility was a problem or the Bucs but so was their OL. Alfred Blue is a good running back. Now. On the Houston offense QB Mallett played the best game of his career, RB Blue had the best game of his career, LT Clarke, RT Newton and TE Fiedorowicz had their best blocking day so far this year. On defense Vince Wilfork, Brian Cushing, Johnathan Joseph and Quentin Demps had their best games this year. Don’t forget Watt, Clowney and Kevin Johnson who only had one completion so far coming into this game. My point? 19 points?
