Jameis Gives VJax A Shoutout
September 21st, 2015People believe America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, has a bond with one of his best friends, Bucs tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, and the two do have a bond.
But Joe is getting the sense that no tandem has a greater bond than Jameis and Vincent Jackson.
The veteran receiver always lauds Jameis for his work ethic and yesterday noted that on his touchdown pass, he and Jameis had been working on that all week against a certain look from the Saints defense. It was a perfect call and throw by Jameis, Jackson said, just like it was drawn up on the white board.
Yesterday, Jameis in his postgame presser, all but said Jackson has been his big brother with the team from the day he arrived, and Jackson has always been available to help Jameis.
“He’s been there for me the whole time, through this whole process,” Jameis said. “Since I got in Tampa, he’s been there.
“It was good for him to get his first touchdown of the season.”
Joe remembers this kinship began well before the draft. Remember when Jameis broke down plays for Steve Mariucci on NFL Network and said he hoped he was throwing to Jackson? And when Jameis was brought to One Buc Palace for the first time for interviews, Jackson was there to greet him?
Joe hopes this relationship proves as fruitful in future games as it was in yesterday’s win.

I was not happy with VJAX after last weeks mess, but I sure can understand how the kick in the teeth would leave a man salty. This is great to see Jameis making plays. I only hope #13 is better sooner then later. Murphy has come to play, but could you imagine a healthy Evans, VJAX, Murphy combo?

Surprisingly, after a win, VJ talked to the media!!!

Jackson is like money finding those open spots on the field for big chunks of yardage over and over. He and Winston are a dynamic duo in the making.

Hard work Dedication!!!! That will get you very far Jameis keep it up “Winning is Contagious” 2 tough defenses incoming but I think we have a chance with Winston.

Congrats Joe(s) !! One of the very few articles involving Jameis that did not go to extremes to over-laud him ! I am hopeful… I know he is a rookie…. but did you watch the GB vs. SEA game last night …. I’m guessing NOT. Anyway.. it was such a PLEASURE watching two QBs with nifty footwork ! Unfortunately, Jameis is VERY slow-footed (especially for a 21/22 year old !)
And that trait will only get worse with age…. and, as of yer, I have NOT seen the Big Ben knack of shedding potential tacklers from Jameis ! …now… he DOES have a good arm (but slow release) and he has seemed very dsiligent and willing to learn…. that’s great ! But he will never be a great QB unleassa he can be a Peyton disciple – smart, good arm, immobile, but knows his stuff !

Once Mike Evans is healthy I think we will see VJax even more productive as coverage will have to stay more honest.
I’m impressed with our TE (ASJ), but he did cost us points on a long throwback throw where he dropped it and he also was called for a holding penalty on a screen play that converted a long 3rd down).

Something I would want to see improve for next week was LVD had at least 2 throws hit him in the hand and Kwon had at least one I can remember lets get some more picks next time!!!

You need to get over it. No #3 is never going to be Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson…although that awful pick of Wilson’s to seal the loss looked a lot like Fameis int on a screen pass in week 1.
Give it up. You need to measure Fameis against Ben Roethlisberger who I believe has some Super Bowl Cred..or Tom Brady…not fleet of foot..and in fact #3 has already shown more mobility than those two.
@Thunderchunky YES! I can imagine VJAX/ME/MURPHY making a great combo. I think Murphy is underrated ,but he’s a St. Pete guy and so perhaps I’m prejudiced. But I think having an experienced wily vet as a #3 receiver is a major bonus…but you forgot ASJ who seems to finally be gaining in confidence.
BTW for all those who are whining about the NFL taking the “contact” out of the sport. That hit on Murphy going over the middle is EXACTLY what I was preaching when everyone was crying about the no head hunting rules hurting the sport.
The N.O. DB did not go for a helmet to helmet shot instead blasting Murphy in the chest. Ronde described how much that hurts and again if you’ve ever had the wind knocked out of you, you feel like you’re dying because you literally can’t breathe. It sends a clear message and doesn’t concuss a player and perhaps injure him for life! In fact it feels a lot worse than getting knocked cold which is painless.

I question Mike Evans work ethic. He looked out of shape in preseason . Again hurt at the beginning of this sseason.
