Jacquies Smith: Prayer Answered?
September 20th, 2015Joe’s going to keep this simple. Bucs left defensive end Jacquies “Jack” Smith now has 10 1/2 sacks in his last 11 games.
Team Glazer might want to commission an esteemed French sculptor to start working on a statue.
Smith ripped off three sacks today of Drew Brees — three — plus two forced fumbles. That’s four for Smith on the season.
Not since Greg White burst onto the scene in 2007 (eight sacks and seven forced fumbles fresh out of the Arena League), have the Bucs seen such stellar production off the edge.
All those draft picks of edge rushers, and it’s Smith, 25, the man claimed off the street when the Bills cut him last September, who is approaching icon status. If not icon status, then he’s easing the pain of letting Michael Bennett walk for no good reason.
If Smith isn’t NFC Defensive Player of the Week, then Joe’s going to punch someone in the face.
The Bucs will be in Houston facing J.J. Watt next Sunday, but Smith deservedly grab some of that spotlight.
After today’s game, Lovie Smith said, “Jack was a factor.” That was the understatement of the year.

So glad we signed that other defensive end.

Remember when Sap and Rice made plans together?
I think we’re seeing the same with Smith and McCoy.

Tony Romo just went down with what looks like a season ending injury. Glennon to the Cowboys for a number 1 and 2.

I had Jack Smith getting 12 sacks this season, he may get 17. Now we need for George Johnson to get his name on the stat sheet.
September 20th, 2015 at 6:41 pm
Just wait on it.
September 20th, 2015 at 6:41 pm
Time to get rid of him. This guy is just too promising and productive.

I keep seeing Jack Smith referred to on this site as a LEFT defensive end…..He is a RIGHT defensive end……..as in he goes against the offenses LEFT tackle. Simeon Rice was a RIGHT defensive end. George Johnson is the starting LEFT defensive end.

I honestly thought he may have had a fluke season in ’14… but this dude’s legit! 2 FF, 3 sacks in 1 game? …smh

glennon + a succesful offensive unit = bad news for the bucs. keep glennon away from teams that will use him to beat us. fameis jameis is good, but glennon is a very accurate wepon.

Why is he now “Jack?” I thought his name was terribly unique!

Actually the 2nd Jacqueis weve had… The first being Jacquez “Jerry Curl” Green… Damn, what a HORRIBLE offense we had under Dungy… Just sayin…

As long as he stays healthy or defense will get better. Very promising to this.

I thought that Jack Smith was a good player in college, but he wasn’t drafted. But he had a 4th round grade on him. Missouri was loaded up front with Smith, Aldon Smith, Shelton Richardson, Kony Ealy, Michael Sam. What is weird, Michael am was better than all of them including Shane Ray and Markus Golden. And he’s the only one of them that’s not in the NFL. When we first picked him off waivers after the Bills waived him, I thought we a good player. A speedy undersized who can beat LTs on a regular basis. We will continue to play hard, that’s the only way he know how to play.

3 sacks in 1 game??? oMG

@Joe
And Jack Smith validates another point you made all through the PS. Just do away with the PS. He missed the entire PS healing and it obviously did nothing to harm his game.

Jacquies Smith has 4 sacks in two games. He has a shot at 20. Stay healthy.

I predicted 12 sacks for Jack Smith this year before the regular games started. Might have to up that prediction. Nice job Jacquies!! Great game. Keep it up.
