Chucky: “To Me It’s Going To Be About Can Tampa Bay Pass Protect”
September 9th, 2015The Buccaneers have a reputation around the NFL: They can’t pass block.
No team had more sacks allowed through the allegedly meaningful 2015 preseason games.
The ol’ ball coach, Jon Gruden, is stuck on that fact about his old team. Chucky joined Mike and Mike on ESPN Radio and chatted about Sunday’s premier matchup, Marcus Mariota versus Jameis Winston, America’s Quarterback.
Chucky chattered about how Mariota didn’t run much this preseason and the Bucs will have to defend read-option plays and Mariota running, stuff they didn’t see this summer.
Chucky, while raving about all things Mariota, called Jameis “up and down” this preseason and said, “to me, [Sunday’s game] is going to be about can Tampa Bay pass protect.”
The Bucs couldn’t do anything on the O-line or run the ball last year, Chucky said, something they’ll have to fix immediately.

In the stock market, whenever everyone agrees that the market is heading down that’s a sure sign it’s heading up….when everyone agrees a stock price is heading higher it’s a sure sign its about to head lower
Personally, I’m loving all these people gushing over Mariota and already ready to label Jameis a bust.
We’re going to make a lot of people look like fools this Sunday

The evidence would point to…. no… can’t pass protect.

Creasicle,
That’s what you got from this post? Talk about pewter glasses. He simply said: Mariota will run a bit, and the Bucs O-Line sucks.
Both of which are 100 percent fact. What’s the problem, there is no hate or bust talk in that post at all.

Been worried about pass protection fo 2 years now. Join the club chucky. Gruden likes jw he’s just higher on mariotta.

And this is why we’ll have to put up with a season of Dungy/Gruden/Lovie ball.
This team will go as far as the D and the new kicker can carry it. Our rookie OL will need a year to begin to master the teamwork and technique of pass blocking.
But we do now have some mean nasty maulers who can serve as road graders for Doug Martin. They will not need much time to exert their physical dominance if they have it.
Martin appears to have returned to form…so we run the hell out of it..hope our D holds and the kicker is the real deal. Meanwhile JW grows and by the second half of the year JW can begin to truly contribute.
BTW Pat Yasinkas put up his game by game predictions and has us going 8-8.
I agree with most of his picks…I don’t think we’ll be swept by Carolina though.

Everyone, keep your eye out for the Joes!!!!!! They should be doing about 90mph and headed for the Skyway!!!!
Lovie announced that Jameis was not a team captain, and called McCoy the “face of the Franchise!!!!”

I’m not about to change my posting name at this late date. I want to be here if the Bucs go 2-14 ready to absorb the abuse.
IF I was going to change I’d become the BucUnrealist. 10-6 baby!!

Gonna be ugly if this line can’t improve over the season

The one lesson that never gets learned? It’s preseason. Every preseason teams flash, players excel and crazy predictions are made based on practice games.
We’ll see.

I’ve been preaching the same thing Gruden said in M&M for the past month. If this team is going to win some games the Oline will be a catalyst. Unfortunately I don’t think it will happen anytime soon. Koeter is going to have to come up with some quick drop releases for Jameis, screen plays, and a whole lot of short passing plays if he wants to score some points and keep our defense off the field. Otherwise is going to be another looong year and I can assure you Jameis won’t be there for some games due to the pounding he will receive.

We have to worry about our O-line? Really?
That’s news to me I thought they were a bunch of all-pros or something.
September 9th, 2015 at 5:31 pm
I will be impressed if the first play is anything but Martin up the middle.
September 9th, 2015 at 5:47 pm
Our first 3 plays should be play-action, deep to Evans!!

Lol I stopped reading after creamsicles comment with those ridiculous statements. Just say you disagree. You’re not very good with analogies.

I thought a flee-flicker would be a great start to the game.
I see “A gap” blitzes all day. Hope JW can find his hot receivers if not its gonna be ugly!

Need a hundred yards or better rushing by Martin and the committee of backups to control this game. Get that and the Bucs defense will get needed breathers. The Bucs will win the turnover battle taking more than giving up. I can’t predict the score but I think the Bucs win in a close game. I hope I’m wrong about a close game because winning by 10 points or more will be great. Hearing all the talk on radio about how bad the Titans are, hey I’m buying it.

Even Chucky had to bring in almost an entire new line before making the SB run. Seems like bad QB play and bad O Lines run hand & hand here in Tampa.
September 9th, 2015 at 7:34 pm
I won’t be judging Winston until they get a line worth a darn. Until then, he doesn’t stand a chance, and that is in NO WAY his fault.
September 9th, 2015 at 9:43 pm
@jimmy
It’s still a team sport. JW still needs to learn when to get rid of the ball. If he holds the ball seven seconds as he did on one sack against Cleveland that’s on him.
But it’s not just JW or the OL’s responsibility…Koetter must do his part with proper playcalling.

LOL!–TB buc fan is right–no doubt first play is Martin up the middle. Honestly we need to mix it up better–not so predictable.
