The Change? America’s Quarterback
September 25th, 2015The Bucs board their flight to Houston tomorrow afternoon. The flight will be buoyed by confidence.
Confidence they can win (for a change). Confidence they can put heat on a quarterback (for a change). Confidence they have a quarterback (for a change).
But the biggest change in the Bucs getting the job done against the Saints on the road (Lovie Smith’s first NFC South win) and the curb-stomping by a 2-14 at home, which was breaking in a rookie quarterback?
That would be America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston. That’s the word from the “Custodian of Canton,” eye-RAH! Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune. In a podcast he cut with TBO.com’s Olivia Stacey, Kaufman said the biggest change in the win, and perhaps going forward, was Jameis looked very bit a starting pro quarterback.
“You start with the rookie quarterback,” Kaufman said. “Winston’s first pro pass was returned for a pick-six against the Titans. I believe he kept his poise throughout in a very noisy Superdome. Now look, he did lose a fourth quarter fumble when they had back to back possessions that ended turnovers. Lovie Smith can’t be happy about that.
“For the most part, Winston was composed. He made the throws he needed to make. The two-minute drive at the end of the first half was huge and he was very impressive with Vincent Jackson on that drive.
“The Saints tried to unnerve him. They blitzed extensively. They put the heat on him. But he made the plays. That will build his confidence going forward.”
Sunday, the road is a bit tougher to navigate for both Jameis and the Bucs. Let’s be real: The Saints are lousy. Yes, a win is a win but the defense of the Texans is a whole different beast.
If Jameis stays composed and engineers a couple of touchdown drives while the Texans have said publicly their goal is to crush Jameis and get him off his game, then we’re cooking with gas.

Why do we keep saying this 0and2 team’s defense is a beast? I’ll take my team’s defense over that one any day. We’ll see whose more dominant on Sunday. Just wait on it.

@Nos-Bos
Maybe its because no one has hung 42 points on the Texans defense this year. Unlike Lovie’s defense!!!!

How many times I gotta tell you”The game is to be sold not told”. I’ma leave it that. But do y’all realize the panthers O line is more of a work in progress than our. Needle boy and crew didn’t look like world beaters last week. Look,when you don’t have a bonafide QB under center confidence diminishes thru out other areas of the team. We not only win Sunday we do it handedly. Just wait on it.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! LET’S GOOOO BUCCCSSS!!!
“It’s as simple as that” – Lovie Smith aka “I’ll piss on your billboards”

Just for the record Realist Tennessee did not score 42 points on the defense.

This will be the third 3-4 defense with stout d-linemen the Bucs have faced this year after the Browns and Titans. The first two defenses totally dominated the Bucs’ offense. What makes anyone think they will suddenly, overnight, just turn it on and reverse the trend? This Texans d-line is superior to both the Browns and Titans. They’re playing at home. They’re desperate and determined not to fall to 0-3. Just wait on it.

Realist…lol Buclife has you there.

Flyboy save that noise,so what’s your belief their defense gonna play both defense and offense. Gotta put up some points in this league bro.

I get that everyone wants to just let Jameis loose, but I think he’s right on when he says right now he just wants to be a “game manager.” Now, Jameis’ version of a game manager is going to be different than everyone else’s — he’s going to go for the big play when it’s there, but let’s not forget that he is still only making his 3rd start.
Roethlisberger, Brady — both were considered game managers early in their careers until it got to the point they were comfortable taking over a game — and the league. Jameis will get there, but he’s still a rookie

What Cream just said,realist!!! just wait on it. Ooohh😍 you just wait on it.

@NOL
Don’t want to be UNrealistic like our resident troll “ratass”. But let’s not jump the gun… Wait on it… A dominating performance is certainly on the horizon for us no doubt about it… With ASJ out I can assume only a full game plan is not in place this week….
That said, if we get a couple early turnovers that covert to point and The Musel Hamster shows up vs Doug Martin or whatever other stupid nickname he trys to use… Than this vonted Houston D could get stuck on the field long enough to let us tier/blow them out… Either way we have to put them away early to get that doubt stirring in their minds…. WE CANT LET THEM FLIP THE SCRIPT….
Bottom line, we win by the points margin we are suppose to loose by!!!
BELIEVE PEOPLE BELIEVE…. WIN OR LOOSE WE ARE ON OUR WAY BACK UP!!!!
September 25th, 2015 at 11:44 am
@nole on sat…that’s the same thing I said..the panthers did a good job on watt with a back up tackle…plus people forget Winston is a little more mobile than people give him credit for…I do believe the bucs will correct their mistakes against the 3-4 def…im sure Winston has put in the extra time to make sure he calls out the right protections and gets the ball out quick…GO BUCS!!!

I don’t let no man intimidate me. – Jaboowins
Our defense would be dramatically improved if we play Jennings at cb over cinnamon toast crunch Verner. Verner is a PI machine who gets burnt on virtually every play. Did you notice that it was Jennings in the game to close out the saints game and he defended at least one TD pass late in the game.
September 25th, 2015 at 11:55 am
DB55. Verner snaps last week 36,Jenninings snaps 53. Lovie clearly not playing when it comes performance. I like Verner tho,maybe slot is where his money at. One thing for certain DB dept is A-1 right now.

Sorry guys, my bad!!!
My crack stat staff was off. A sure seemed like a lot more. It must have been the way the Titans shut it down at the end of the 3rd quarter.
That is all!!!

Nole
Finally! I’ve been waiting for Lovie to get his head out of his sand. Ray Charles could have made that call.
