52 Yards In The Air And A Spin
September 21st, 2015Last week, Bucs fans witnessed Jameis Winston throw an aggressive block on a defensive tackle in the running game.
Yesterday, it was a Warrick-Dunn-like spin move for a gutsy first down, and a precision Jameis bomb hurled 52 yards in the air.
What quarterback in America can match those feats through two games? And this is another reason why Jameis is America’s Quarterback.
Here’s a link to video of the deep, deep pass to Louis Murphy.
The image above is Jameis setting up the open-field spin on Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro, a 2013 first-round pick. You can see the full spin in the video link, too.
All this stuff is fun, but the only thing that matters is the “W,” a very big “W.”

I swear, it looked like Winston only had to flick his wrist to launch that ball 50+ yards…

I take back what I said in my last post, Joe(s) !!! YOU ARE DELUSIONAL !! Yes, I was very happy with Jameis’ performance on the spin move…. but if he hd quicker feet, he wouldn’t have needed it ! You Joe(s) are OVER-THE-TOP in love with Jameis….. I know you could care less… but I am seriously considering avoiding your blog and rooting for Jameis failure due to your BIAS!
Probably not… ’cause I AM a Bucs fan…. but, more and more, becoming LESS of a JBF fan !!

Chicken Littles: “But, I could have sworn the sky was falling.”
He will have his ups and downs through the season. But, the most ridiculous thing is to write him off after one game.
I was more worried about the defense. They played better this week. Hope it builds for next week. Keep it up, Jack.

The spin for the first down was too much. When he started to run I thought Oh No, but somehow he spun around and plopped to the ground for the first and ten. Didn’t see that coming.
September 21st, 2015 at 9:04 am
I am 100% for anyone who wants to avoid this blog because it’s pro Winston. See ya!!
Do you realize how idiotic it sounds for any supposed Bucs fan to root for the number one overall pick to do poorly, because a writer on a CLEARLY opinion based site is pro Jamies?
I’m all for less but smarter fans. Thin the herd.

Man he has great accuracy that bomb to Murphy was beautiful lol complain about his mechanics lol what do they say about that? Also that pass to Vjax for the TD only a handful of QBs can make that throw.
September 21st, 2015 at 9:14 am
That 52 yard pass was the first time I can remember a Bucs QB making play that made me think, “Wow!” in quite some time.

Thank you Love and Warrick Dunn, last week I was sickened by the amount of Mariota lovers who trolled this site to say “see I was right Winston is a bust and Mariota will be in the Hall of Fame!!” After one game are you serious???? Please go look at the careers of most Hall of Fame quarterbacks not named Dan Marino to see how they fared in their first game. Talk about knee jerk reaction. All the Mariota lovers showed they were not true Buc fans by actually wishing Winston did poorly????? Are you kidding me???? To me the pick could have gone either way but I wanted Winston for his leadership abilitiies in the QB spot we havent seen since maybe Brad Johnson or Doug Williams. If you want Winston to fail so you can prop up your boy I guess yesterday you were feeling sick right?????????? Dont let the door hit you on the way out of this blog!!!!!!!

I agree with Love and Warrick Dunn’s last comment in regards to Largo. Good bye Felicia! GTS that.

Hi, I’m a Bucs fan who came to a Bucs blog and was shocked (SHOCKED I say) when that Bucs blog showed “bias” towards the Bucs quarterback. I mean it’s like you want the quarterback for the team you’re rooting for to be a good player.
I root for the Bucs but hope that their quarterback is a bust. Because I’m a Bucs fan. And I want their first overall pick to be awful. I come here, not for Bucs news, but to read about how awful the quarterback is even after he plays well.
You call yourself a Bucs blog? And then you show bias to their quarterback?
For shame.

@Love and Warrick Dunn Says:
Listen…”A”… I don’t mind “pro-Winston”… I am a Bucs fan and I root FOR him !! It’s this OVER-THE-TOP “blind love and praise” that irks me ! Jameis is very slow-footed, can’t avoid sacks very well … but I am hoping he will ben “serviceable”…there are a lot of things I like about him… but the Joe(s) are just TOTALLY RIDICULOUS for ignoring (completely !) his shortcomings !! So.. FU !

“but if he hd quicker feet, he wouldn’t have needed it !”
I said before the draft and Ill say it again. Drafting a QB based off how fast he runs is like drafting a linebacker based on how good of a long snapper he is.
September 21st, 2015 at 9:41 am
LargoSam will he ever look as pretty in the pocket as say Brady,Brees or Rodgers answer no. But what he will match all those individuals with is “competitive fire”. Something you’re either born wit or not. Trust me bro Buccs fans are going to be the most arrogant spoiled fans in the entire league here shortly. Mark my words and just wait on it.

@Largo…
As love was saying its a pro bucs site. Personally, I don’t always agree withthe Joes but they are Bucs fans like all of us. Is the Jameis love over the top sometimes? Yes but since when do you base your mood on the comments of a blog. I’ve followed this site for several years and rarely post, but my goodness the amount of cynical “bucs” fans a ridiculous! Be a fan not a critic!

Clodhopper Im with you. Whats the footspeed of Brady, Rothlesberger, Aikman, Marino, Bradshaw???????? Who freaking cares you draft a quarterback to throw the damn ball. What did all of that footspeed do for Mariota yesterday?????? Four freakin fumbles??? I think today maybe Tennessee wishes they had the first pick LOL and I love it!! That 52 yard bomb to Murphy on the run falling away was unbelievable and the spin move for the first down didnt show just athleticism but a complete awarenesss for where the first down marker was in the heat of battle. Im sorry but Ill never wish we had Mariota I dont want a qb who can run a 4.4 40 only to have injuries take it away (i.e. RGIII).

@We all know you are Supersam
I love seeing young minds show their age.
Your logic was to root against a player on the team you purport to support because of what someone with NO actual affiliation reports on their website. That was your own words.
You can call me anything you want. When your thinking is that logically weak, you do the damage yourself. I just sit back and point our your own dumb words.
Keep it up!
September 21st, 2015 at 9:45 am
Mariota had 7 sacks yesterday. All because he is a slow footed hack who cant escape the sacks!!
September 21st, 2015 at 10:34 am
@L&WD
Agree wholeheartedly, overall His first game wasnt even that bad, yeah 2 bad picks, but even good veteran QBs will have two bad picks in a game here and there. Ridiculous that people were already calling him a bust.
The reason we were blown out was not Jameis, it was the defense. Nice bounceback game for both Jameis and the D.

@L&WD
Great post especially..I’m all for less but smarter fans. Thin the herd.
That’s both funny and true!
Listen the 52 yard bomb on the run did my heart good. I remember screaming at the TV sooo many times when Jeff Garcia…a bantam rooster competive guy with a rubber band arm could not get the ball downfield to wide open WR’s.
JFro was a QB with arm strength but he came out of college with a rep for a wildly inconsident accuracy and he never really improved on that. His “great” year was when they still let him run and play more like Cam does.
I do not mind all the slobbering over JW. The kid has said all the right things, has won his team over, and has a world class smile. Why would you find it hard to root for him?
September 21st, 2015 at 11:06 am
Clodhopper, interesting analogy but agree with the point – a ‘dual threat’ QB is a dual threat most likely bc they suck in the pocket. (unless u call Wilson one)
But look, coming out, the thing i was most interested to see with Winston was how he was going to develop under adversity. We know what kind of team he was inheriting. But I can stomach a sub .500 season much better with Jameis remaining optimistic and showing improvement week to week. Show me that competitive Brady-like edge, not that RGIII-ness
September 21st, 2015 at 11:16 am
Poor Winston haters are all upset………………….
September 21st, 2015 at 12:01 pm
yeah sometimes the joes can be a little over the top with their love for jameis but it doesnt bother me…im a gator fan and now that jameis is a buc I even root for him because that’s what real buc fans do..i just look at it as the joes being so excited that this franchise seems to be headed in the right direction with the drafting of jameis..i’ll admit it during the whole draft process I wanted the bucs to trade the pick to improve the oline and dline but after they drafted jameis, you could tell their was a buzz around this city that hasnt been here in years…I cant remember the last time the bucs were featured daily on espn or nfl network..coverage was crazy all offseason…with that being said, its only week 2 of a long season so lets hope he and the team continues to improve..i support jameis and this is coming from a die hard gator fan….GO BUCS!!!
September 21st, 2015 at 1:56 pm
If I can put the final nail in the “I wish we had Mariota” bunch, the touchdowns he threw yesterday??? Garbage time 🙂 LOL
September 21st, 2015 at 2:54 pm
Where’s the Mariotta troll today… Guess his mommy grounded him from the computer. Go Bucs!

@ LargoSamIM
What happened I thought you were gonna leave the site? I was happy I thought there would be less idiotic babble on here
