Video: McCoy Explodes Off The Ball
August 2nd, 2015There were no pads on last night at the Bucs’ first practice of training camp, in a driving rain at the University of South Florida, but offensive linemen are still encouraged to get in the way of a pass rusher and engage the guy.
In this JoeBucsFan.com video below, Joe suggests you let your eyes key on the flash that is Gerald McCoy.
His renowned get-off is on display as Garrett Gilkey (right guard) and Demar Dotson play two gears lower. McCoy would have decapitated Jameis Winston, America’s Quarterback, if this was real football.

Gerald McCoy is a BEAST!! Love how hard he works and how much he wants to succeed in Tampa Bay. Hit it and Get it, D-Line!

The man deserves some damn success already, don’t you think?

One thing that already looks better is that Winston got rid of the ball in a hurry – something neither of our Qb’s could do last year.

Red or white Winston jersey? Which should I buy if I go to all the games?

I agree with Hawaiian Buc! Yes McCoy has impressive burst but we already knew that. What was equally impressive was that Fameis got the ball out of his hands in a hurry.
This could be real preview of the season. If Koetter devises schemes where Fameis can unload the ball quickly we can cover up some OL deficiencies.

That means the OL will be worse than last year.

Who is that who pulled late from the left guard position and shielded McCoy away from the QB, Mankins?

I believe the reason Love signed Henry Melton is so McCoy would have fresher legs in the 4th Qrt to get those coveted sacks people feel he doesn’t get enough of in that period.
Also lacking that desired stud pass rusher, Smith seems to be going with the pass rush by committe approach like the Seahawks use.
Keep throwing fresh legs against the OL to wear them down to the point of exhaustion.

Get Garrett Gilkey off the first team now. If Marpet is not ready put him at center and move Evan Smith to guard. Why is the 34 pick in the draft not starting at left tackle? In case anybody can’t remember Kevin Pamphile was the 149 pick in last years draft? In just 119 snaps he gave up 3 sacks, 1 QB hit and 5 QB hurries. If he played a whole season that would add up to something like 30 sacks, 10 hits and 50 hurries to put it into perspective.
Is it just me or does anyone else see a sense of urgency with not starting Pamphile and Gilkey?
