Rainey Not Worried About Fumbles
August 9th, 2015Last year, the best Bucs running back was Bobby Rainey.
Then came the “Nightmare on Mangum Street,” where the Dixie Chicks chain-whipped the Bucs as if they were direct descendants of Billy Sherman himself. All before the eyes of the nation in prime time.
In that debacle, Rainey fumbled twice and secured himself into the penthouse of Lovie Smith’s doghouse for pretty much the rest of the season.
Joe caught up with Rainey after yesterday’s practice and asked him if securing the football was a training camp priority for him in order to get more touches.
In a bit of a surprise, Rainey said fumbling, or preventing a fumble, hasn’t even crossed his mind.
“No, because that is not something I usually doing,” Rainey said of fumbling. “It is not in me or my character [to fumble], period. It is not something I am concerned with and nobody else should be concerned with as well.”
There you have it. Rainey is a really good dude. He wasn’t mad or upset — at least not outwardly — when Joe asked about fumbles. In fact, Rainey came across more confident than anything.

Show and prove then…

Hopefully Lovie will forgive and forget… Until he puts another on the carpet. Then he will be on his own.

Got to get the chance to show and prove..Lovie , as noted on this very site more than once, buried him after those fumbles last year.
I don’t remember him having a fumble issue prior… although I could be wrong

Time will tell.

Well if you forget Rainey any fumbles,…just press replay. No doubt he got some touches lastyear, and will get some this year. I think all the backs will look better with hopefully a better line.

With todays defenses holding backs up and ripping at the ball, I don’t think there’s a running back that hasn’t coughed it up in the league. Rainey is a tough carrier and should be given his due. Nole said it time will tell.

I believe in Rain man. He really shifty,I think he makes for the perfect change of pace guy as they say. Just wondering what’s going happen with James? Hate to see him go for nothing. I was quite impress with what he did up in Seattle a few seasons ago. I haven’t forgotten.

Lets see…every time Rainey’s name is mentioned it coincides with “fumbles”. Since everyone else seems to think there is a problem with fumbles one would think the correct answer would be “I will hold on to the ball.” Rainey and others on this team need more of a sense of urgency when it comes to “holding on to the ball.”

Fumbles happen, it’s a part of the game. It’s great to recover opponents fumble fingered drops, just limit Bucs fumbles to a minimum. It’ Sunday night preseason football time, that’ll have to do right now.
