Kickoff: 8 p.m.
TV: WFLA-TV Channel 8, NFL Network (the NFL Network will rebroadcast the game Sunday at 4:30 p.m., Monday at 4 p.m. and Thursday at 4 p.m. The game will also re-air Sunday on WTTA-TV Channel 38 locally at 7 p.m.)
Radio: Buccaneers Radio Network (WDAE-AM 620 and WFUS-FM 103.5 in Tampa-St. Petersburg region); SiriusXM Channel 88.
Weather: Per AccuWeather.com, the weather in the upper-Midwest is very much in the throes of a hot summer. Temperature at kickoff at TCF Bank Stadium on the campus of the University of Minnesota is expected to be a Florida-like 87 degrees under sunny skies. No rain is expected and the temperature will ease off a bit to a pleasant 81 at game’s end.
Odds: Per FootballLocks.com, Vikings -3.5.
Outlook: It’s all about “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston. Most important in Jameis’ debut is for him to walk off the field under his own power.
Other important things to worry about: The development of fellow rookies, left tackle Donovan Smith, right guard Ali Marpet and middle linebacker Kwon Alexander. Also, Joe wants to see how the wide receivers shake out after the clear-cut, top-two. How will rookies Kenny Bell, Rannell Hall and Kaelin Clay play? Also, can Clay get a leg up in winning a return gig?
The only thing Joe wants to see from the veteran defense is somehow mustering heat on a quarterback from an edge rusher.
Notable: Minnesota sports radio is saying pass-rushing Anthony Barr and other rushers will not play tonight. Vikings will have a thin night at defensive end

I know Winston and the offense are getting top billing but I cannot wait to see what this D line looks like. Watching the Panthers and Atlanta this weekend, we’re going to need that unit to play out of their minds all season long.

Some people on here are so negative. They blame it on “incompetent” Lovie but really, they must be miserable. And not juat in regards to football either. The tone people set when they post is a reflection of how they feel. And for the usual few, that tone never changes. Lovie could take us to the superbowl and it would either be despite of him, pr they would find a new target.

People have a right to be negative these days. After years of sucking and fans spending hard earned money for a bad product.
Many are purely negative all the time, but some are just afraid to be positive…until things are proven.
I fall into that category. I believe the team is going to get better, but I’m on the prove it train. I like what I’ve seen so far.
I don’t think playoffs will come before next year though.

Winston doesn’t look terrible, not when he’s in no huddle offense.
Keep in mind, the offensive line has been crap. The center had several botched snaps (told you so!). They started rotating out his starters after the first quarter as well.
He got better as the game went on. Which leads me to believe he had first game butterflies, even if you can see it in his face (and he probably won’t admit to it either).
This is pretty much what I expected from Jameis in this game, except he got to play longer than I thought he would.
What amazes me is that there have been no defensive injuries yet…what doesn’t surprise me? Our defense still sucks.
But…first pre season game. So it will get better.

Winton took a hit to the head on his slide

Couple bright spots:
Kwon Alexander looks serious! 58 next to 54 could be dangerous.
Marpet looked very nice indeed and other than the spin move DSmith did a good job too. Joe Allen looks good at center.
Bridgewater looks great.
As for Dotson, that’s a tough break. Who steps up now?
