Aaron Rodgers Has Five Picks
August 7th, 2015Yes, yesterday, Joe witnessed a special day from “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston. He was on fire and looked every bit the No. 1 overall pick and franchise quarterback the Bucs hoped they drafted.
It seems, however, folks are putting a whole lot of emphasis into throwing interceptions in training camp. The first week of training camp, to be precise. Crazy.
As a result, pundits and more important, Bucs fans, are wringing their hands because Jameis threw five picks in two of his three first training camp practices — in the NFL!
Meanwhile, the guy that will always be compared to Jameis, Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota, allegedly has no picks. Joe has to wonder just what kind of defense Mariota is facing, if any?
Yesterday, Joe brought word that uber quarterback Andrew Luck tossed three picks in practice earlier this week. Joe isn’t aware of the Colts pondering cutting Luck as a result. Now comes word, via TheBigLead.com, that studly Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has as many interceptions in this year’s training camp as he had all of last season, including a run to the NFC Championship game, cites Jason Wilde of ESPN Wisconsin.
“He’s going to do things in training camp that he might not obviously do on a Sunday – give guys chances to make plays and so forth,” [Packers coach Mike] McCarthy said after practice Thursday. “I’m not concerned about it.” Nor is Rodgers, for while he isn’t throwing intentional interceptions, he says most of the ones he’s thrown have come on throws that were meant as something of a test for his young receivers looking to prove themselves.
“I threw five last year in the regular season, so I know how to play in those games,” Rodgers said. “The playbook is exponentially larger than the regular season, game-week plan. So we’re trying different things. There’s different guys out there running routes who might not be in there when it is the actual game time. So you make different throws, you’re working through different plays. Sometimes the defense makes the plays.”
So you know what this tells Joe? The fretting about Jameis’ picks in training camp is nothing more than filler for bad sports talk radio. It’s nonsense. It’s practice. We’re talking practice.
If Jameis is getting intercepted right and left when the real bullets are flying come September, then that is a different animal. Otherwise, the worry warts need to calm down.

August 7th, 2015 at 1:14 pm
Joe, It was really about that you thought Lovie’s defense was so bad that lovie would have to tip off plays so they could make a splash play!!!!
August 7th, 2015 at 1:14 pm
10 minutes, and she’d forget him . . . .

August 7th, 2015 at 1:41 pm
I mean it’s rare but even team leader Dallasbuc uttered a positive post about yesterday’s practice on another article. And I made a point to bring attention to it. Maybe I need to re-evaluate the true team leader.
August 7th, 2015 at 1:43 pm
I threw 5 ‘interceptions’ looking at that picture!!! Whew!
August 7th, 2015 at 1:46 pm
I am under the impression from camp reports from several networks that MM is the king of the check down. He isnt throwing into tight windows downfield yet. Regardless, its camp. Let’s wait for the real thing and see what happens.
August 7th, 2015 at 1:47 pm
Wait a miniute! There’s an article under that picture?? Never saw it.

August 7th, 2015 at 1:57 pm

Oh and what I wouldn’t give to play a three technique and hit that A-gap
August 7th, 2015 at 2:20 pm
All of this is a byproduct of the social media world we live in. QBs throw picks in camp, they always have, it’s just now every Monday Morning QB from here to the ends of the earth can see it and pick these things apart now. PR raved last year about how precise and efficient McCown looked in camp, and look how that turned out.
August 7th, 2015 at 2:29 pm
David what a fitting award. I would love to see him accept it from Lovie Smith his self.
August 7th, 2015 at 2:29 pm
I would like to turn-her-over, backwards and sideways. Damn!
August 7th, 2015 at 2:49 pm
@Nos-Bos
Well, since Lovie never does competition, he could not “award” me. Most likely it would be gifted like all the Jobs he just hands out!!!!
Cause that is how Lovie Claus rolls!!!!
August 7th, 2015 at 2:56 pm
Yeah, just ask Brent Musburger about those QBs & there girlfriends. I wonder what Jameis’ girlfriend looks like?
August 7th, 2015 at 3:33 pm
Starting to really question your football IQ or your just a JW protector…I lean toward the latter…
If he is throwing them in practice then you will see it in Sept too.
To compare him to probably the best QB (Rodgers) in the league is simply laughable….your really reach way to far to make your uneducated points. Its getting sad kinda like the pre draft reporting.
Im looking forward to the season starting…u can apologize then and admit you were wrong again. Kinda like picking Manziel. Oh yeah u dont mention that anymore…tail between legs.
August 7th, 2015 at 3:36 pm
Sure he does Bucwhiniest, he competed to become the DC of the Rams and the HC of the Bears and the Bucs. I hear Bellicheat is looking for you to become a Pats fan. He and half his squad look similar to you and he won another Super Bowl. Don’t that make you want to jump ship?
August 7th, 2015 at 4:43 pm
Cute. Just check Jameis’ Instagram page.
August 7th, 2015 at 7:35 pm
JoeyousoNuts get a grip son. While Joe is a huge Winston fan like some he is not his protector. Trust and believe Famous Jameis don’t need no protector sonn! From the slant of your post I can figure you’re one of those still caught up with his past deeds probably more so that he was never convicted of what ever he was accused of. A consensual act with a trashy( I saw her picture) loose gold digger looking for a pay day. So I’m sure you’re looking forward to their civil case as well. So to edumacate you about the Aaron Discount Double Check guy is that so many people are making such a big deal about the ints Jameis is committing in practice. The defense is throwing everything at him to prepare him for the 1st game of the season. Best believe the more he gets used to the constant pressure in practice they will be reduced and won’t see as much in the regular season. So before you go patting yourself on the back we all know Jameis will throw interceptions ALL rookies as well as ALL qbs throw them so you have no special powers of observation. So Joe is not comparing Jameis to one of the best qbs today he was simply showing even the greatest throws ints in practice so calm down.
August 7th, 2015 at 7:51 pm
Yo Joe cute just don’t cut it! She is smoothed out like butter baybee! She is definitely a black Barbie doll! Man I hope Jameis wasn’t dating her when he hooked up with Trailor Park Annie cause he would have to lose a certain amount of respect for that!
August 7th, 2015 at 10:41 pm
The Joe’s should start a new website. Call it…. JoeButtsFan. Just post a new, half naked pic every hour and let us comment on them! We do that now anyway!!!!!!! Imagine the clicks, Joe’s!!!!

Interceptions are over rated. Sure you dont like to see them, but they are a neccesary evil. If you want to be great you have to take risks throwing the ball. There is no way around that. There is never going to be a wide open wr on ever play. Some times you gotta force it in a tight window. And sometimes it wont be a perfect throw, that doesnt mean you never attempt that throw again. You work on it and you perfect it. And lets not forget that the defense gets paid big money too. They are going to win from time to time. There are going to be tight windows and great defenders playing the other side. Wrong routes will be run, reads will be missed. There is no reason to get hot and bothered by interceptions. Eliminating the bone head ones would be great, but i dont expect a rookie to be on point in his first year. He has to get comfortable and learn his limits and the defenders limits. Its part of the process.
