Only Jameis Winston Gear, Stuff Sizzles
July 24th, 2015Led by former Bucs rockstar general manager Mark Dominik, the faction of Tampa Bay fans that thinks Jameis Winston, America’s Quarterback, is not the face of the franchise was slapped in the face yesterday.
The NFL Players Association released the quarterly rankings of players moving the most licensed merchandise. The top-50 list for March 1 through May 31 includes one Buccaneer; Jameis is ranked No. 10 overall.
The list, released quarterly by NFL Players Inc., the marketing and licensing arm of the NFLPA, is based on overall sales of all licensed products from online and traditional retail outlets as reported by more than 80 NFLPA licensees such as Nike, VF Imagewear, Fanatics, Outerstuff, Fathead, McFarlane Toys, Oyo Sports, Bleacher Creatures, FBF Originals, Forever Collectibles, FanPrint and Photo File. Licensed product categories include men’s, women’s and youth game jerseys and t-shirts, player murals, figurines, matted and framed photos, bobbleheads, drinkware, socks, jewelry, electronic device accessories, among others.
Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins is 34th on the list, but his 2014 draft classmate Mike Evans is not. So it seems tiny-market Buffalo likes its stud receiver more than Bucs fans like theirs. Joe found that noteworthy.
Marcus Mariota is No. 9, buoyed by his stronghold in Hawaii and Oregon, where NFL allegiances are limited.
Yes, Jameis is the face of the Bucs, like it or not. His regular-season debut on Sept. 13 might be the most watched Tampa Bay sporting event since the Bucs’ last playoff game in January 2008.

There’s Joe poking the stick at them again..
July 24th, 2015 at 12:42 pm
And he forgot to put in “Bucs signal-caller”.
July 24th, 2015 at 12:47 pm
He’s a quarterback. Jerseys will sell in the first year. He still hasn’t topped Mariota I see.
Also, he IS NOT the face of the franchise. He has done nothing in the community. He hasn’t even acted like a franchise QB yet. How many times has he gathered his teammates for private workouts?
Has he even embraced the community yet?
Nope.
He attended a couple events before the draft, put on by retired players. That’s it.
He’s gotta earn that title, Joe. Sorry.

“How many times has he gathered his teammates for private workouts?”
I think twice.

Winston jersey would probably be top 3 seller if the uniform design wasn’t so atrocious.
I would love to own a Winston jersey – but literally refuse to pay money for a jersey in the “new style”. I think they are the ugliest uniforms I have ever seen in the NFL since the NFL/AFL merger and I intend to personally protest by never buying one until the Glazers admit their terrible judgement and change the uniforms to a look we can be proud of.
I’m guessing I’m not alone in these feelings and this personal protest.
So I’ll just continue to wear my old Allstott and Brooks and Sapp etc jerseys until the ‘powers that be’ decide to stop forcing our players to look like they are wearing clown suits on the field.
The Helmets are great. The Uniforms SUCK! Get it right Glazers!!!!!

By mid-season Jameis might be at the top of jersey sales.

@buccaneerbonzai…..
Wow you are so clueless!!! Spouting all that incorrect banter as fact is totally classic. You sir have the post of the day. Here is one of those private workouts Jameis conducted in Tallahassee that you said he has not done…….classic!!!

It’s pile on Bonzai Day today. Here I thought it was atleast a month away….
Poor Bonzai.
Oh happy day! 🙂
July 24th, 2015 at 2:44 pm
I love 1987 comments he thinks exactly as I do. Lol Keeps me from having to post. He pretty much made buccaneerbonzai look like a moron. You can tell by all of bonzai posts he’s still hurt we didn’t take Mariota. Maybe he was talking about his boy Mariota when he posted. Come on man get with the program! Go Bucs! Oh does anybody know when the stiched Winston Jerseys will come out that are about 150.00?

ebay is your friend.

@I’m tired
not sure about the stitched jersey’s (they’re actually usually $300) but I will say that one good thing — probably the only good thing — about the new jersey style is the difference between the $100 or $300 jersey is indistinguishable. Really no need to get the stitched up version in the new style
July 24th, 2015 at 3:14 pm
I just got my stitched FSU Winston jersey back from the dry cleaners about 2 days ago. Pressed like a military uniform. Can’t wait to take it out of the closet for week 1 at Ray Jay.
July 24th, 2015 at 3:16 pm
Oh and I’m tired. I’m glad I make things easier for you. lol
Bonzai’s still my homeboy though. So everyone try to be nice.

Maybe Mariota can start embracing Nashville since he JUST signed his contract. We all know what the comments, from the people who wanted Mariota, would be if it had been Winston just signing.
July 24th, 2015 at 3:32 pm
Love and Warrick Dunn…OMG can you imagine the barrage of negativity thrown Winston’s way if he took that long to sign his contract? It would be a constant bash fest in here. Just like pre-draft.

31. Tim Tebow, Philadelphia Eagles
July 24th, 2015 at 4:00 pm
Not to mention that off set language in the deal in order to get it done. Meaning when they cut ties with him in a few years they’ll have to pay him $770,000. Seems to me this young man is not planning on being a titan for long. Or in the league for long for that matter.
July 24th, 2015 at 4:15 pm
I’m not a jersey guy, but man if I was I would go with the orange throwback. The new ones are awful.
July 24th, 2015 at 4:28 pm
@ Deminion Checkout the highlights of the 99 playoff against the Redskins. This one game highlights the entire Dungy Era. This is pure Buc ball. Great defense, bad special teams, & Dunn and Alstott.

Rand I saw that game in a movie theater. One of the best football tv experiences I’ve ever had. I went to the bathroom and just missed the ko return for a td at start of 2nd half. I was so happy I missed it. It was funny that we broke the Doug Williams curse after that game because we signed Brad Johnson the following year.

@bonzai:
The only thing worse than spouting nonsense is not having the guts to come back and defend the incorrect statements or simply to admit you were wrong.
July 25th, 2015 at 8:49 am
I have 2 Evans jerseys. Not sure why people don’t want the best receiver in the NFL.
