BSPN: Bucs Will Still Stink
July 1st, 2015If you know how things will turn out through the next three years, Joe wants to have a private word with you over a few beers about short-term investment projects, including lottery numbers, Vegas odds and Wall Street futures.
You don’t know; Joe doesn’t know what is going to happen in three years. Hell, we could be calling Donald Trump “Mr. President,” for all we know.
(Trump interviews on political talk shows are the best entertainment this side of Rowdy Roddy Piper and “Piper’s Pit.” Just last night on “The O’Reilly Factor,” Trump was back throwing grenades at everybody and everything including NBC for canceling his “Miss USA Pageant.” Trump hollers, “Sleepy-eyed Chuck Todd of Meet the Press, his ratings are in the tank; he’s a failure.” LOL!)
But BSPN seems to know what the Bucs will do in the next three years and it isn’t pretty. Even with “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, at the helm, BSPN thinks the Bucs will still be among the NFL’s bottom-feeders in three years.
28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
2014 record: 2-14 (4th in NFC South)
NFC South future rank: 4th
Overall score: 57.8The overview: Drafting Jameis Winston improved the chances for long-term success at quarterback, but the Buccaneers plummeted by double digits in every other category, led by a 25-spot drop in drafting to 30th overall. The No. 5 ranking from one year ago seems laughably high in retrospect, and the current assessment could be a little too harsh. This team remains tough to figure out after falling flat in 2014 following what seemed like a promising offseason. The Buccaneers are no longer getting the benefit of the doubt. –Mike Sando
The dilemma: I said it before, during and after the draft: The Bucs’ organizational structure and developmental plan at quarterback will make all the difference in the world for Winston as it relates to his on-field success. The unknown is whether Winston and Dirk Koetter can form the necessary bond between QB and coordinator. The Bucs have done everything in their power to surround Winston with good protection (they drafted Donovan Smith and Ali Marpet) and down-field weapons (Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson). But it’s now up to Winston to do right by his teammates and coaches. If he can do that, Tampa will have found its first difference-maker at quarterback since Brad Johnson led them to a Super Bowl win in 2003. –Louis Riddick
The youth movement: Lovie Smith is trying to dig the Bucs out of the holes created by the 2011 and 2012 drafts, which produced just two current starters — running back Doug Martin and linebacker Lavonte David. Consider the last two drafts a good start. Winston drew plenty of praise during the OTAs and minicamp. Wide receiver Mike Evans has been moved to split end, giving him a chance to become the QB’s No. 1 option, and the Bucs are still hopeful Austin Seferian-Jenkins turns into a star at tight end. –John Clayton
Joe can’t predict what the future will bring in three years, but Joe is pretty confident of one thing: If the Bucs, in three years, are still in the basement of the NFC South and still not able to get to a winning record, Lovie Smith will be gone.
Joe has stated time and again a rookie quarterback buys Lovie time. And yes, Joe thinks Lovie gets three seasons to turn around the franchise. If Lovie pulls the unexpected — and he has been known to do that (hello, Josh McClown!) — and shockingly taps the quarterback of the past and quarterback of the future and maybe quarterback of the present, Mike Glennon, as the starting quarterback, then Lovie is on the clock.
With Glennon, Lovie has to win sooner than later. With Jameis, time is on Lovie’s side.

Lovie is on the clock no matter what he does.

Say what you want about TRUMP, but he embodies everything good and bad about America. I think he is refreshing in the political world of political correctness. I am all for Trump in 3 years JOE.

Trump as president has about as much chance as Lovie hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in 2016.
If Trump were a Bucs fan, he’d be suing someone over the Bucs dismal performance last season.
I’m with Buc-A-New…….let actions speak louder than predictions!

Don’t hold your breath on Lovie going anywhere anytime soon folks. #1 he hired Koetter, the same guy that made David Garrard look like a pretty decent QB. Hell I don’t know much of it he actually received but he ended up inking a 60million dollar deal. Once Koetter was gone I never heard another peep out of Garrard. #2 he drafted WINSton, need I say more. Again fixate your minds to seeing that mild mannered individual on that side line for along time. As for that bs bspn talking, well the future results will soon be speaking for themselves.

The fact that this guy said Brad Johnson was a “difference maker” is hilarious.

Seems like they’re are two type of Buccs fans visiting this particular site. Those that choose to revel in the past and the results there of,the pessimistic. And then theirs those of us that optimistically look towards the future and the potential there of…. Which side are you on???

I mean the NFL network just aired a program called “top ten NFL turnarounds countdown”. It’s as if they were speaking specifically to Buccaneer fans. Did anyone get it? I did, point made to me anything possible. No two season’s are ever exactly the same.

Trump does not have the money or connections to pull it off. He certainly would not be as bad as the whole lot that declared before him. The writer of the Bucs critique above says the Bucs are hard to figure out, yet figures them out. He could of just asked the Buc fans, they have their team figured out.

Poor quarterback play was the biggeat reason the Bucs won but two games last year. Had Tedford been healthy, well history still suggests that Mccown would still suck. If our o line were better, Mccown would suck. If we had Tedford, Mccown would suck. Starting Mccown in todays NFL is suicide. If Jameis goes ourlt there, even as a rookie, I beleive we will get far mpre production from the posistion than Mccpwn brought us. A good quarterback and good o.co can adapt to a below average line.

Guessing you don’t know how much cash the guy has.
Dude is a multi-billionaire. Billionaire with a “B.”

If only Piper could interview Trump.
July 1st, 2015 at 11:48 am
I would love to see Trump’s campaign come to Tampa!! and in the midde of the speech his yells ” I must me in Tampa!!” and the crowd yells Trump says ” cause I just saw a horrible football team!!” and the crowd boo’s!
Then he makes the hand motion that he still has the inter-continental championship belt as he walks off stage to some 80’s rock anthem!!!

Agreed Largobuc. Some can’t seem to wrap their minds around that notion tho.

“The Bucs’ organizational structure and developmental plan at quarterback will make all the difference in the world for Winston as it relates to his on-field success.”
That’s what it all comes down to!
Do they:
a. have all the necessary tools to develop Winston?
– I think they have the right OC and receiving/RB talent.
– Thinkin that OL is VERY dangerous! The last thing you want is concern of who is starting where on the line mid season and your rookie QB running for his life and chunking up picks.
b. have the right personalities in that locker room despite a losing mentality.
– Think V Jax is the perfect guy to be in the huddle and that Mankins can offer some calming veteran presence.
– Just have not seen anything to believe Lovie is able to coach up or teach his players.

It looks like it can get alot worse before it gets any where near competative. plus another year or two of low draft picks can only help the eventual turnaround this club should make. the lack of consistant Impact players is very evident. and some current players will no longer be impact players then so it could last a few years.

Joe,
I hope ur not going to start ranting ur political views?
I think Trump would be a breath of fresh air in this socialist system we live in now

Donald Trump filed for bankruptcy protection and took taxpayer bennies under such protections on FOUR different occasions. ER his “corporations” filed for bankruptcy! But corporations are people to you know.
@Nole on Sat
Agree with all that you’ve posted. I frequently bring up the late great Chris Thomas who used to entertain us middays. He always said that NFL stood for No Freaking Logic. The difference in talent level is so razor thin that anything is possible.

We got Jameis.

I’m voting for Dan Bilzerian (P) and Wacka Flacka Flame (VP) this year. Dan is my hero.

Joe, I know trump is loaded with near worthless fiat debt dollars. He can’t win because no truth is allowed to be spoken.

Really miss that guy.

Joe Bucs Fan “Americas Turd” stop mocking Jameis Winston.
July 2nd, 2015 at 2:47 am
Mike10 says “have the right personalities in that locker room despite a losing mentality”. With the end of the McClown/Collinsronic/Ghost Johnson/BBQ Beef Bowers/Adrian Claybeeninjured/Barronbeenburned/Goldslow and Cousinsvinny, chemotherapy is officially complete. We have the right personalities in that locker room or the wrong ones out of it. The losing mentality will change this year when teammates become dissy after witnessing Jameis bring his team back in the 4th quarter to win game after game. 26-1. 26-1. This team is going to learn how to win his year.
July 2nd, 2015 at 3:19 am
The Bucs will be 10-6 this season, you heard it from me.
July 2nd, 2015 at 9:44 am
I’ll drink to that Bucsdbest
