Melton Motivated By GMC
June 11th, 2015One of the forgotten free agent signees is defensive tackle Henry Melton.
Now two years removed from knee surgery and a veteran of Lovie Smith’s defense in Chicago, Melton is expected to be a plug-and-play kind of tackle.
And the former Pro Bowler arguably makes defensive tackle the deepest position on the team.
In an interview with multimedia maven Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com, Melton admitted the No. 1 reason he signed with the Bucs is, of course, Lovie. The second reason is Melton wanted a chance to play with Bucs star Gerald McCoy.
And thus far, Melton said, he has not been disappointed.
“I really didn’t realize how good of a player Gerald is,” Melton said. “His work ethic is crazy. I’m just learning from that and trying to be a better player.”
Melton also remarked how he feels his knee is finally “100 percent” and he is ready to rock opposing quarterbacks. He’s even open-minded to playing defensive end on passing downs, if he has a chance to make quarterbacks eat dirt.
Joe has to admire the buoyant attitude by Melton. But remember folks: June means underwear football.
Of course, Joe will be out at One Buc Palace today for the final OTA practice of the spring. Next week is minicamp and after that, the NFL enters the dead zone until camps open up at the end of July.

Good news on the knee. He was one of the best UTs in football when he was hurt not long after converting over from college FB.
In other surprisingly unreported news, Marpet was signed. So there go all the moronic conspiracy theories about him not signing and how he’s already a bust because we haven’t bothered signing him. I’m so glad there is no erase post feature on JBF. Once a poster has a stupid idea and hits enter, the comment is there for all to see from now until the end of time.

Glad to hear his knee is 100% make some plays big fella We desperate to see opposing QBs eat dirt and go home with their jersey dirty

Melton was a good acquisition…..we always need solid depth and he provides it. I’m hoping he can transition to DE and create some pressure…..

I really appreciate the way you post Brandon. If that ain’t the truth.

I’m happy to hear the Ali signed. I didn’t hear anyone calling him a bust already. I read someone say that if he was a bust that it would reflect poorly on the coaches and GM since AJ Cann was on the board when they picked him. As far as people reporting that he hadn’t sign prior to last night well that’s not too surprising since it was the case. Some did speculate that it was possible that he may not be practicing more due to the lack of contract and fear of injury more than the hammy issue.

Melton looks big thick and tough in that pic. I have a good feeling this guy will make a positive impact for the Bucs.

We’re all like a bunch of crack addicts here. Jonesing for our next fix of football.
Alas all we have is underwear run throughs and endless speculation.
I enjoy all of this but I must confess….I’m ready for some football!!!

And Joe will be on his knees beating his head and fist on the ground if Winston is not getting all the first team smaps. If he is not, try asking Lovie why?.
