Evans Deep Into Dixie Chicks Study
June 27th, 2015This shouldn’t shock anyone, but if one wants a window into what the offense of the Bucs will look like, take a peek into the past. The Dixie Chicks’ past.
Yes, Dirk Koetter was a valued offensive coordinator leading the high-powered Dixie Chicks offense that had a stud quarterback (who threw more picks in the ACC than “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston), and talented weapons at receiver and tight end.
Jameis had made no secret he is studying Dixie Chicks tape more than Joe studies the new crop of Bucs cheerleaders. But it isn’t just Jameis.
Appearing on “Late Hits,” co-hosted by Alex Marvez and Bill Polian, heard exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Bucs receiver Mike Evans said he is doing his homework on the Dixie Chicks to get a better grasp of what Koetter is building here in Tampa Bay.
“We have watched all of their clips,” Evans said. “All the clips of Julio [Jones] and Roddy [White] and Harry Douglas and all of those guys. Those guys can play. The offense suited them well so hopefully, it will suit us well They did very good last year numbers-wise. Hopefully we can do the same.”
Well, as far as weapons, the Bucs are damn close, missing a reliable No. 3 receiver, of course.
In his interview, Evans dropped Jones’ name more than once. So it sure smells like Evans will be Koetter’s version of Jones with the Bucs. That sounds cool as hell.

I can’t wait to see Winston bombing deep balls to Evans week 1!! Hopefully the O-Line can protect him long enough.

Mike Evans and Demarco Murray are my fantasy keepers this year.

I imagine the over under total must be fairly high on the Winston to Evans connections for receptions and TD’s.

Koetter knows who the number 3 receiver is but we don’t yet.
You have reported from underwear camp where moves, speed and the ability to catch are measurable on a number that impressed you.
With pads on, they become a team and the question is who don’t you double team and who does Winston find first or does the DL find him first.
I expect the OL blocking will improve in each game as they learn, so by the end of the season we should have something or know who needs to go.
Can’t wait.

The games the Bucs play against the Falcons this year should be very interesting. The team should be particularly up for those hoping to support Koetter against his former team. Moreover, by the time the Bucs play them they would have watched so much tape on the Falcons they would have a great idea of the strengths and weaknesses of each player. Go Bucs!

Julio Jones with Matt Ryan and Dirk Koetter: 8TDs in rook yr. 10TDs the next. Then 2. Then 6 last yr.
Mike Evans with Josh Mccown and Marcus Arroyo: 12TDs in rook yr.
Evans is gonna Shock the World!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Matt Ryan play more years and throw more passes in college ? Joe, I get all the love for Jameis, but talk about using stats to make ones point. Matt Ryan played in 43 games, Jameis 27 games. Matt Ryan threw the ball 1347 times, Jameis 851 times. I just don’t see the point of comparing their ints in college when they didn’t even play in near the same amount of games nor throw the ball near the same amount of times. See were I’m coming from ? STILL LOVE THE SITE !!!!!!!!!!! By far the best place for Bucs news ! GO BUCS !!!!!!!
