“Nobody Cares”
May 6th, 2015It’s time to lock the door on the 2014 wretched season.
You know the one, where the Bucs finished with the worst record in the NFL and won the Chase for Jameis?
Give it up! Jason Licht got his man. The Bucs have a new quarterback. Would you please friggin’ put last year to bed?
Those are the thoughts of Bucs cornerback Alterraun Verner. He’s done thinking about last year. He did his best to purge that from his memory banks. And now that OTAs are in full swing, Verner is only worried about this year.
Verner, always a charming, pleasant fellow, said he is finished with sweating over 2014.
“I tried to take even longer this year than I’ve done in the past [to get away from football], but it’s kind of hard, especially when you are a competitor and you know what happened – 2-14 and how many times you left things out there,” Verner said yesterday. “It’s hard to kind of just let it go go, but I tried to get away from it for a little bit to start fresh and know that you can’t do anything about what happened in the past. All we can control is what goes forward. We can go out and win a Super Bowl this year and I think not too many people are going to talk about what happened that past year, unless they want to do a Cinderella story or what not.
“It’s all about what’s forward. That’s what the NFL is about. It’s not about what you did in the past. Nobody cares I went to the Pro Bowl two years ago. That’s way in the past. Nobody cares that Seattle won the Super Bowl the year before. The Patriots are the Super Bowl champs right now, so we have to worry about what is going forward and that’s why I did take a little longer time to try to get that in my head.”
A lot of truth to what Verner said. However, what’s the famous cliché? Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it?
Joe believes Verner is trying to learn from the past. If the past is repeated, and the Bucs (again) finish 2-14, Joe’s just going to guess there will be heads rolling at One Buc Palace.
Joe can’t really believe a repeat of last year is on the horizon.

I literally cant imagine a scenario where that happens, oh wait, koetter has heart issues and misses the whole season, jameis winston gets injured for the season so Lovie trades Donovan smith and Ali Marpet to the browns for Josh McCown.
Thats about the only way I can see us going 2-14

No Jolly. That might make us go 1-14 or even 0-14 !!

I dont know Joe. Seriously hard to have another 2-14 season, it took 25 years to have a record that bad. My worry is the offensive line and Jameis Winstdumb. Dangerous combination.

THANK YOU. FORWARD. GO BUCS

With incompetent Lovie Smith driving the bus and little bobblehead lapdog Licht barking by his side anything is possible. I like to think that with Winston behind center and an accomplished OC calling plays 2-14 is highly unlikely in spite of Smith and bobblehead’s piss poor talent eval and decision making. I see Winston throwing a lot of TDs this year and needing all of them to stay in games due to our absence of pass rush and dominance on the defensive side of the football…the Lovie side of the football.

that famous cliché doesn’t apply to everything joe
for instance cornerbacks are always told it’s about the next play, you have to have a short term memory about it because you’ll get beat at some point no matter what. why would you focus on 2014 season knowing you have a better team and there was a major learning curve and ZERO offense. theres hope in the lockeroom and I appreciate it

I know why-you sound dumb, you don’t make it to those dollar figures being dumb smart guy.

After last year, I was really shocked by Lovie’s horrid talent evaluation. Especially thinking that Mccown was an acceptable option at starting quarterback. I dont care who’s calling plays, handing Mccown a starting job was irresponsible.
However, Mccown, among others, is no longer on the team. Lovie’s wish list seems alot more calculated. The draft was pretty good too, although Marpet instead of Cann was kinda odd. But Lovie and Licht both knew what was needed going forward and they got it done. Hopefully in December, it will all have worked out.

I literally cant imagine a scenario where that happens,
Don’t try then. Fameis blows out a knee in preseason, MG8 goes down for the season in the second game…GMC misses 3/4 of another year…
Sadly it’s not that hard to imagine.

Now back to the wind sprints Verner, no more getting burned this year.

2-14 will always be on Lovies resume. So will zero championships. He will be gone in a few years.
