Jason Licht’s Dad Plays Bucs GM

Heeding dad’s advice.
After the Bucs drafted wide receiver Kenny Bell, Joe noted how Nebraskans hold their Cornhuskers dear to their hearts.
In fact, Bucs general manager Jason Licht was once a walk-on for Tom Osbourne.
Licht’s parents still live in Nebraska, and his dad, Ron, has had season tickets to Cornhuskers games for over a half-century.
So when Nebraska star wide receiver Kenny Bell was on the market and the Bucs’ turn in the fifth round crept closer, Ron Licht began texting his son that he would need a head examination if he didn’t draft the speedy Bell.
And so it happened.
Licht, in his post-draft press conference, didn’t say if his father influenced him, but the younger Licht sure thinks the Bucs pulled a fast one over other NFL teams.

I really, really like this pick. This kids going to make a splash. Jameis is going to have a lot of fun next year provided they keep him upright.

Jameis is the most important pick in the scheme of things… But my two favorite picks of the draft are Marpet & Bell. Feel like Marpet will be around a long time & bell will grow into our second recieved the next three-four years.

I wouldve been “Lichting” his phone up too! I really thought Bell would go in the 3rd or 4th…..We got a steal in the 5th!
