Is Today The Day For Ribs On The Grill?

This is not Logan Mankins, to the best of Joe’s knowledge.

On this weekend notorious for grilling meat and washing it down with an array of barbecue sauces, iced cocktails and glorious beer, Joe is wondering whether the Buccaneers’ offensive line is finally curing what ailed it last season.

Of course, Joe’s talking about their lack of proper barbecue bonding.

Regular readers here know Logan Mankins’ late-season declaration of barbecue woes sent Joe into a mental tailspin the likes of which Joe hadn’t experienced since earlier that month — when sticky artificial turf doomed the starting center.

But now, Mankins is on the roster for spring practices, not arriving in late August like he did last year. Mankins is here to earn his $7 million salary on the field and by mentoring/coaching rookie linemen Donovan Smith and Ali Marpet, and leading like he did for the Belicheats in New England.

Perhaps this is the day Mankins nails down the elusive O-line barbecue, the first of many that will help the Bucs win games this season and protect America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.

Joe’s raising a glass of apricot-jalapeno chicken marinade in hopes Mankins got it done already.

Smorgasbord!! Smoked Quail and Lincolnshire Sausages today, and 2″ thick Ribeyes for tomorrow. Let’s all take a moment to give our appreciation and thanks to our fallen Warriors. God Bless.

    Logan Mankins, “America’s Grillmaster”

Je$us! Joe’s gone all hipster on us with his fancy BBQ sauce! What’s next adopting a stray dog? Plaid shirts? Awkwardly including bacon into every post? Beards for the Joes?

  4. Howard Cosell Says:

Howard thinks that last season was a perfect **** storm.
Lovie and Licht were trying to get their sea-legs. They had some
successes (Evans) but many epic fails in free agency. This year
is really starting look 1000x better than last:

    * Continuity is underated. we’re getting a little continuity.
    * The Glazers seem more involved than they’ve ever been
    * Epic McCown with the help of gamesman Lovie led the team
to epic victory in the Winston lottery.
    * The Tedford issue was so ugly that it seems like years ago.
The Tedford issue was the death knell to the 2014 season.
Lovie? Who sucks at offense. Loses his new hot-shot O-coord
and promotes some unknown kid to OC? The chase for Jameis
    started in Sept 2014?
    * Koetter is better than Tedford. I would take Koetter any day
    over a healthy Tedford.
    * CONTINUITY. Can’t be stressed enough. Now, in 2015, pretty much
the same O-line can work under a real offensive system and get an
early start and work with a fire in the belly that comes from wanting
    to prove yourself.
    * Jameis will light a fire under the offense. It’s a given. And LL&K went
high upon the mount, looked down upon the suffering people and
said, “Lo, I bring glad tidings; Fot a rookie shall lead yo out of the
bondage of suck and to the prominsed land of win.”
    * The wild card in this whole thing is how all thes young players do
in 2015: Smith, Marpet, Sims, ASJ, Edwards, Pamphile, Bell, Alexander.
    * If the line is even marginally better it should help the run game a ton.
A ton of win, or a wins-ton. Howard still think the Bucs are deep at RB
they just need a mind that knows how to use it (Koetter).
    * George Johnson has to be 10x better than whats-his-name-the-ghost
    Right?
    * Defense having two years in the Lovie system which takes two years
    (minmum) to learn, Right?

Howard goes a conservative 8-8 but the homer in Howard thinks 11-5.

Thanks to our veterans. They’re the true tough-guys.

    @ Howard

    Brilliant!!

  6. BuccaneEric Says:

The only thing I’ll be thinking about for the next 3 months or so is the beating I hope we put on Mariota! I’ll be disappointed if Z-Mett wins the job!

  7. BuccaneEric Says:

This could be the first time a #1 pick QB has a revenge game week 1 against the #2 pick!! Can’t wait!!!!

  8. DayOnePaul Says:

The Tedford disappearance has been blamed for the failures at QB and in the running and passing game. Warhop seems to get all of the blame for the poor offensive line play. I can’t help but think that if an amateur OC can have such a negative impact on every facet of the offence, that a legit OC will improve the OL play also.

I got an R.S.V.P to the BBQ and it’s not until tomorrow Joe.

    @flboyindallas

You beat me to the post…..”America’s Grillmaster”…..for “America’s Oline”

  11. SeattleBuc Says:

We need to get the road graders going in a big way and pound the rock. Early success in the run game would help keep pressure off Jameis. Keep the 3rd downs manageable. Not like How its been lately, run straight into the line for no gain. Martin needs to have a really good year to get paid, I’m pulling for him and all the backs

  12. ChessMaster Says:

I saw a ton of grills on sale outside Home Depot. Would someone either buy him one, or show him where they are?
