Bucs Players Not Alone
May 7th, 2015Remember the report that came out at NFL draft time from NFL Network’s Judy Battista? She stated Bucs players, last season, texted general manager Jason Licht encouraging him to draft Jameis Winston.
Then, early this week, Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans said he preferred Winston because Evans “did time” with scrambling quarterbacks.
Well, it seems they were not alone. Apparently, so too were the Titans hoping Licht somehow had a lapse in judgement and passed on Winston.
Thanks to loyal JoeBucsFan.com reader Chris Bell (if anyone hiring needs a researcher, Chris digs up stuff on the internet you won’t believe), he passed along a video someone shot of Titans receiver Justin Hunter and Kendall Wright the moment when NFL warden commissioner Roger Goodell called Mariota’s name for the Titans.
Let’s just say Hunter and Wright were less than thrilled. The video below speaks volumes.

lol
Hope you provide LOTS of goodies for tomorrows practice, Joe. We’re counting on you.
May 7th, 2015 at 11:04 pm
Haha…nothing will ever be said about it going forward because we know that Mariota will never call them out on it.
May 7th, 2015 at 11:05 pm
Awww…now I feel bad for the poor guy. Would they really rather Muttonburger continue to “lead” the offense over there?

Put a smile on my brothers ~Famous Jameis
May 7th, 2015 at 11:08 pm
That’s pretty funny!!! They better hope Mariota doesn’t see that or he might get some balls and tell the coach to tell them to stop it!!!!!
May 7th, 2015 at 11:10 pm
If we gonna do it then, we do it big!!!!!!!!
May 7th, 2015 at 11:11 pm
Not sure who they wanted. They knew Winston already went….
May 7th, 2015 at 11:13 pm
Mariota who?
It’s Jameis Time Tomorrow at One Buc.
The Chosen One will be on the practice field wearing a #3 Bucs jersey.(The free one I’ve yet to receive)
Yes it really did happen. I’ve waited 28 years for this. Tomorrow the journey begins!
Go Jameis Go Bucs!

The owner is trying to sell the team, & picked Mariota to make them a more attractive team. They have no superstars & their banking on Mariota to be that guy…& that’s the bottom line.
May 7th, 2015 at 11:17 pm
Bucs fans have been denied a great QB for far too long!!! I hope Winston is the one!!!!!!!! GET THAT JERSEY 87!!!! Go BUCS!!!!!
May 7th, 2015 at 11:19 pm
Don’t care about the Titans after week 1. GO BUCS
May 7th, 2015 at 11:38 pm
There is a video going around that before everyone walked into one buc place, Winston greeted ever single rookie. all 54 of them. True leader
May 8th, 2015 at 1:43 am
This is not news. Most every current and retired nfl player (98.9%) said winston was the pick. Does he still have things to “prove”? Yes, but he was definitely the choice/pick. Does it mean he won’t be a bust? No, but it means he was definitely the choice/pick.

@ Tiny Tim
You’re right, but they already knew Winston was gone. So they weren’t hoping for any player in particular, they were just hoping the Mariota wasn’t going to be the pick!!! That just amazes me. Not a Mariota guy, but never thought he was as bad as to have NFL WRs hope that he won’t be their QB. Just makes the Winston pick seem like an even better decision.

Andrew, I don’t disagree. Tell me if you think the titan player’s reaction would have been the same if Winston was on the board at number 2? I highly doubt it. He was clearly the pick in most eyes. Right or wrong, this is the decision you were suppose to make. If we gonna do it, we do it big then. Its as simple as that!!!

Thanks for the shout out joe

They “have a bond” and are good, if not friends with Mettenberger – their current No1…
Maybe, just maybe, they get to know Mariota and change their mind?
May 8th, 2015 at 6:54 am
It makes sense. As Joe said, Evans “put in his time” with a mobile QB. The receivers here in Washington aren’t big fans of RGIII taking off and running all the time. From what I’ve seen, receivers don’t care for a QB with that element to their game. Every time they take off and run it themselves, that’s one less opportunity that a receiver has to get his numbers up and you’re kidding yourself if you think that’s not on a receiver’s mind. That’s their livelihood and how they earn their living. A QB being a “mobile” guy, to a WR, is a threat to their ability to get that next big contract.
May 8th, 2015 at 7:38 am
Hopefully Mariota returns the love this season with a couple over the middle passes leading each of these guys into a safety.
May 8th, 2015 at 8:00 am
A couple of idiots who probably won’t be with the team that much longer.
Given Shady McCoy’s recent comments this seems to have more to do with race than anything else. Ignorant black players would rather have an inferior black teammate than play with a guy who doesn’t fit into their culture.
NFL is a buddy-buddy league from top to bottom, hence why players like McCoy get butthurt when their “boys” get cut or traded or passed over in the draft.
I’d be more interested to see the reaction of the Titans offensive linemen…
May 8th, 2015 at 8:18 am
@JFF…That has got to be the dumbest most uninformed comment I’ve read in a while. So if the Titans could some how acquire Andrew Luck you think these guys would not want to play with him because he’s white….NO….because they would both know that Luck instantly makes them better which means more money when it’s time for their next contract…wow…you’re an idiot!
May 8th, 2015 at 8:33 am
@JFF, way to be ignorant and play the race card. Those are their top two WRs, so they are certainly not going anywhere. Isn’t it possible they just already liked their current WHITE QB and didn’t feel the need to draft a new QB? Or that they, like Evans, aren’t really fans of the “mobile” QBs? Absolutely absurd comment.
May 8th, 2015 at 9:22 am
Jff is just sad. And yeah, shady is the problem when you let he, djax, and maclin and go and extend cooper for 30 mil and sign bradford and tebow..lol! Ridiculousness. Sorry to say it, as eagles fan, but the optics are troubling to say the least. And I’ve had high hopes for chip. Silence won’t cut it though, just like slandering deseans name as great teammate. Amateur hour

Coming from two guys on the bottom of their depth chart I’m sure Mariota really could care less
May 8th, 2015 at 10:53 am
Damn I’m 12 hours too late it seems. Lol even mm own teammates don’t want him. Rotflmao
Real recognize real!!!!!!!!

Granted, i don’t pay attention to EVERY comment on EVERY post, but i feel like i have even yet to see Eric since the draft…
CAUSE STONE COLD SAID SO!!!!
sorry, i just couldn’t resist…
May 8th, 2015 at 11:53 am
Seems to me, since Winston was already picked, that these two are Mettenberger guys. There is something to be said about loyalty…

Wright is a starter and Hunter is a former 2nd round pick… not exactly bottom of the depth chart but it’s the internet just say whatever you want like it’s facts LOL
