Stocker Returns

It is true that tight end Luke Stocker re-upped with the Bucs. A trusted Bucs source tipped Joe off this morning. Stocker is returning to the Bucs as Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times Twittered.

No surprise to Joe, who wrote about the likelihood of Stocker returning for his fifth season this week. And Joe wrote about this in detail in January. The Bucs did not want to break up the tight end band, especially with a weak 2015 draft class of tight ends.

Stocker was a standout on special teams last year and proved he can block as a fullback, if needed — and stay healthy.

Who could forget the forced fumble that got Lovie Smith’s attention? Yes, 2014 was so sad, a Stocker hustle play was a major highlight.

Joe’s happy for Stocker, who carries the flag for the Bucs’ 2011 draft class.

    Why?

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    I was fearful that Luke would challeng Myron for one of the top spots on Dominik’s bust list…but Luke perseverd….stay healthy Luke…..

  3. The Buc Realist Says:

    Luke Stocker was the Bucs best Full Back that did not use PED’s! Of course he was the only FB that did not use PED’s for the Bucs.

  4. poorglennon Says:

    No way this guy get’s more than the league minimum.

  5. buccinfan Says:

    congrats stocker! hes a good role player i dont know why there is complaining about signing a third string tight end that can lay wood and is versitile

  6. salish_seamonster Says:

    ^^ because people love to complain.

  7. The Buc Realist Says:

    @buccinfan

    maybe because he has been on IR more than any wood he has laid.

  8. Pickgrin Says:

    If Stocker can stay healthy – then he is an inexpensive asset. Dude is a pretty good blocker. Last year was the 1st in the last 4 years that he hasn’t been on IR so here’s hoping you can keep the streak alive Luke. At least we are starting to get SOME value for the TWO 4th round picks Dom spent on him. SMH.

    At least we know what stockers screen name is = buccinfan

  10. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

    Realist…I’ll bet he’ll be on IR again this season.

  11. The Buc Realist Says:

    @97forjameisnomariota

    Stocker and Clayborn had reserved spots on IR and the training room!!!

  12. Kaptain Morgan Says:

    I remember that sideline hit this past season where Stocker knocked the hell out of the Rams player. It made the highlights reel and everything. Sad part was he hit the wrong guy! The player who had the ball was 2-3 guys up the field! Glad you stayed healthy, now about your eyesight…

  13. WS99 Says:

    @kaptain Morgan

    Good to see stocker and ASJ both posting today.

    Joe’s already answered you and clarified here many times your multiple malicious commentaries about Joe and about Joe’s business, and you are not being singled out when compared to the many dozens like you in the same boat. When Joe has to babysit, it’s over in the comments section. –Joe

    Ws99-lol bro

    Stocker is a very good blocker and another big red zone target to help out our new QB. Hope we paid near league minimum for him. Smart signing, he’s a known commodity (more by training staff than fans but u have to think his bad luck injury streak is up right?)

    We have a very nice stock of TEs. I would like to see all three and ME13 on the field at the same time. That’s a killer playaction passing package.

    I also hope Lane recovers, he’s a solid blocker and runner too.

    Good job Joe. I have critiqued you before as well which I never received blowback about so I hope you took it as honest criticism which no one is above.
    Now if you can clean up the language on this site that would be a plus as well.
    If you can’t write a few paragraphs without using a pack of expletives, then you need to keep writing out of the crayon box.i

    Yes, Stocker has been injured. But I doubt if the Bucs had thought he was a malingerer they would have resigned him. Not only that, this isn”t one of Lovie’s so called “guys.”
    Injuries happen to everybody and sometimes an unfortunately player gets hit with a string of them. That is just plain dumb luck. Often times it’s from friendly fire.
    Does anyone remember the Grimm kid that was taken out be Aquib Talib. He was a standout guy, hard worker and not a bad safety but was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

    hahahahaha Buc Realist…

    @WS99

    ::Strike a pose::

    Wish I was paid like an NFL playa…

    …now about your arrest during the Super Bowl in AZ…
    LOL

  22. Max Says:

    Lovie loves boring “blocking” tight ends.

  23. ddneast Says:

    Yea, those boring blocking tight ends. Like the ones Seattle has that went to two straight Super Bowls. Some of you people really write stupid posts.

  24. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    The only ability at TE I worry about is availability! If Stocker and ASJ both stay healthy we should be fine.
