“Serious Issues On The Offensive Line”
March 10th, 2015Yesterday was a beautiful day to hang at the beach. Others thought it better to waste time at a golf course.
(Joe’s not a golf guy. Never grew up around it; never understood the appeal. Always thought it was ungodly boring. Joe tried golfing. Too many Arnold Palmer-wannabes trying to turn Joe into some PGA guy. Joe just wanted to chop up dirt and drink a cooler of Bud Light. Hell, Joe never even kept score. What’s the point? Golf just isn’t Joe’s scene. Way too snotty. Folks are just too uptight.)
Anyway, veteran sports anchor Dave Wirth ran down former Bucs great Ronde Barber at some place that ought to be turned into something useful like a condo complex or a shopping mall. There, Barber talked about the Bucs.
Oh, he understands the Bucs very well could draft a quarterback No. 1 overall. And Barber understands why. But priority No. 1b should be restocking the offensive line, Barber said.
“They have some serious issues on the offensive line,” Barber told Wirth of WTSP-TV Channel 10. “Documented, undocumented, moving guys around, it’ll be interesting to see what they do in free agency here, or how they attack it during the draft. If you’re going to draft a quarterback in the first round, it’s imperative to put guys around him. There’s some pieces there for sure, but I think the play there, on the O-Line, was wildly inconsistent last year, and it needs to be better.”
Joe isn’t sure about undocumented offensive linemen, but if this is true, Joe is guessing ICE might be snooping around One Buc Palace.
To say the offensive line needs to play better is an understatement. It was the NFL equivalent of a screendoor on a submarine last year.
If the Bucs are going to make a major investment in a franchise quarterback, then it is only logical that the offensive line needs to be retooled, perhaps in a major way.
Again.

How long did it take Ronde to figure that out?
March 10th, 2015 at 7:24 am
They can shuffle or revamp this O-line all they want but as long as Warhop is coaching it we are in trouble.

Breaking news !!!!! Great

canadian bucsfan Says:

This.
Loyalty to a fault. SMH.

Canadian bucsfan hit it. Warhop has to go. Terrible results everywhere he has been.
March 10th, 2015 at 7:46 am
Well, he must not have talked to EDS. If he had, he would have known that, “I played hard. I did what I needed to do.”
March 10th, 2015 at 7:53 am
Free agency and the draft hasn’t even happened, and I see no reason to be optimistic. Next year a new coach is just going to blow up the roster anyways…
March 10th, 2015 at 8:01 am
Undocumented issues and they still played like that?
March 10th, 2015 at 8:02 am
Just think, only 9 more months and we can discuss who the next HC will be.
It will be no more talk about QB or OL or DL , it wil be where will the new HC come from and whom will he bring with him.

Ahhhhh JoeBucsFan, where the pessimists, anti Bucs fan and trolls all come together to wallow in a pit of loathing, despair, misinformation, poor perception and short memories.
March 10th, 2015 at 8:11 am
Certainly it seems to be an Achilles Heel of Lovie… Loyalty to a fault often to the detriment of the team. Nice enough guy though …..
March 10th, 2015 at 8:20 am
Lol..ddneast
March 10th, 2015 at 8:35 am
Thank you rock star/super star/all star former gm Mark Dominick for not drafting any offensive linemen all those years…all those other players you picked have worked out great!
March 10th, 2015 at 8:41 am
Well hopefully by the time I get home from work today we will be a slightly better team
March 10th, 2015 at 8:48 am
Ronde – Thank you Captain Obvious…..
Winston 1, Cam Erving 2, Tre Jackson 3 – a clean sweep of FSU talent in the 1st 3 rounds would go a long ways towards fixing our offensive problems.
March 10th, 2015 at 9:06 am
I believe it was after game 1 that we all said the same thing. Welcome aboard Barber only took you a season to figure that out.
March 10th, 2015 at 9:24 am
@Pickgrin
That’s a good joke.
March 10th, 2015 at 9:59 am
This team was 2-14, sir. No need for perception. They were the worst in the NFL. Not sure what you are referring to with “misinformation.”
You mean the Bucs weren’t 2-14 and don’t have the top pick in the draft? Do explain.
March 10th, 2015 at 10:02 am
So Lovie gets a pass on Anthony Collins, Logan Mankins, EDS and Oniel Cousins? To the best of Joe’s knowledge it was not Dominik who ran Donald Penn or Jeremy Zuttah. But do carry on with your misguided hate.
March 10th, 2015 at 10:29 am
Lovie identified the problem. It was all the Assistant Offensive Line Coach’s fault. If we get off to another poor start the Equipment Manager could be in trouble.
March 10th, 2015 at 12:11 pm
@ ddneast / thekevin.
So you think it was a good move to retain Warhop? You think because people question some of the personal decisions we aren’t fans???????
March 10th, 2015 at 12:12 pm
Ronde telling this to Captain obvious Dave. No kidding…
March 10th, 2015 at 12:47 pm
Golf eggs, that reminds me of the Beverly Hillbillies episode when Jed, Granny, Elie May and Jethro went golf egg hunting out on the fairways. They cooked them and tried to eat them. The game makes about as much sense.
March 10th, 2015 at 2:07 pm
Rhonda looks pretty good in that pic.
Yes, I know this team was 2-14 and in need of a lot of help, but misinformed is putting it all on Lovie for over 10 years of bad drafts and FA acquisitions.
Being anti Buc is when I read out here, “I hope Foster goes to the Saints and INT’s 2 passes against us.”
And of course there is always the very eloquent, for this crowd any way, “the Bucs suck and will never be any good.”
Of course along the way there is all sorts or diatribes posted against Lovie and usually George Warhop who I have no personal feelings for.
Let me ask you though, you have a guy who is playing organized football and usually in his position through high school and college and now the line coach is going to teach him the fundamentals of playing the position.
Really, what was he doing for the last 7 years playing in the position.
If you have to a teach a rookie or a veteran guard how to block, you picked the wrong guy to begin with.
Thinking that way isn’t misinformed, it’s just stupid.
Hey, you guys have a nice day, too.

Joe, I am an avid golfer and believe me, when I Was younger I used to have the same precovceived miss perceptions about the game myself.
Believe me, one thing it is not is snotty, especially at the public course I play. Anyone, unfortunately sometimes, can play.
Uptight? It shouldn’t be as long as you know the simple rules of etiquette.
