Lovie, GMC Sold Melton On Bucs
March 12th, 2015New Bucs defensive lineman Henry Melton didn’t even try to dodge or BS about why he is now a member of the Tampa Bay Bucs. It was because of two guys: Lovie Smith and Gerald McCoy.
Melton, who owes a good deal of his professional career to Rod Marinelli and Lovie, told Bucs multimedia maven Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com that it was a joint sales pitch by Lovie and GMC that got him to Tampa, and Lovie was spreading the love quickly and hard.
“Lovie contacted me right off the bat and he was really passionate about bringing me in and we got a deal done,” Melton said. “He saw me groom into a special player in Chicago as I was a converted running back, really raw at defensive end. He and Rod Marinelli groomed me into an under-tackle. It was good to see him again and get back to working with him again.”
And for GMC, Melton said that GMC had been working on for over a year trying to get him to Tampa Bay. Melton said GMC began his sales pitch at last year’s Pro Bowl in Hawaii. Instead, Melton signed with the Cowboys.
Melton, before he signed with the Cowboys, had blown out his knee and said that last year he didn’t play at 100 percent.
“I didn’t reach my peak,” Melton said. “I fought through it all season. Got nicked up at the end.” This coming season will be his second season back from his knee injury and believes he will be at 100 percent.

GMC is also trying to recruit Greg Hardy via Twitter. Maybe when he career as a player is over he can move on to being a GM!
March 12th, 2015 at 1:37 pm
Tell you what they thought of the guys they played with last year!!!
March 12th, 2015 at 1:48 pm
If we can get Hardy, that would be the perfect “big name” to complement our defense. Pressure from all sides should help mask our hole at mike LB.

So Melton is better than McDonald? We shall see.

Sterling Moore visits Bucs…….Cowboys East!!!

i wonder what GMC knows that we don’t as far as potential FA’s…
March 12th, 2015 at 2:01 pm
GMC = Leader

Largo
You think ja smith will start and play every down? That would be cool but I don’t see it. Do we have any starting DEs at this time?
March 12th, 2015 at 2:04 pm
Atleast we don’t have to worry about getting a Saints overpaid G… Ben Grubbs just got shipped off to KC
We can all rejoice!

Sterling Moore has good film.

Every free agent that played at a high level for their former NFL team comes to Tampa and under achieves! I will again state that only the HC is the difference and until someone figures out that the Buc’s will struggle until Team Glazer pulls the trigger on a new HC, we can only dream of what the Buc’s would look like if Chip Kelly had actually signed the contract!
I see that the Famous Jameis the Rapist went to NY and spent 5 hours pleading his case with the Commish!! He better get used to that act!!
Greg Schiano

Thank God for GMC!
March 12th, 2015 at 2:16 pm
Hopefully he’ll be able to recruit some more people here
March 12th, 2015 at 2:24 pm
Is the Hawk gone yet? I’ve seen several reports that he would be released after Conte was signed, but nothing official that he actually has been cut.
March 12th, 2015 at 2:28 pm
@Greg Schiano
you mean free agents like Vincent Jackson, Clinton Michael? go way back to hardy nickerson even…..theres always gotta be one fan to cry about every move a team makes no matter what it is. clearly the social media era is the best thing to ever happen to you, glad your life is finally relevant for something. maybe you should go follow greg schiano’s team….ooh wait he doesn’t have one
March 12th, 2015 at 2:42 pm
@Bucs4lyfe
Why do you even waste time reading his comments?
Whenever I see @Ray Rice or @Greg Schiano, i just calmly keep scrolling.
Anyone that has to come on a comments section and pretend to be someone they are clearly not is a waste of breath and space in my book.
Hey even “signs” his name at the bottom like he’s actually him….
GTFOH
March 12th, 2015 at 2:45 pm
Derrick Morgan is out, lots of teams after him apparently so the Bucs wisely didn’t give him a stupid contract just to sign him.
March 12th, 2015 at 2:49 pm
Hey nobody wants to play for Lovie Smith.
I like that these pick ups seem suited to play Lovie’s defense, or have actually played it.
Now get Hardy and we may have improved. I cant get too pumped up after last years fools gold.
March 12th, 2015 at 2:55 pm
Man the phones McCoy….man the phones.
PRB…it’s nice of you grace us with your presence in the comment section.
I guess it took a Freeman article to do it! 🙂

Just read where the Eagles are looking to deal Guard Evan Mathis….I know he’s 33, but he’s been one of the better Guards in the NFL over the past few seasons. If it didn’t cost much to get him, maybe he’s a short term answer to shoring up the O-line?
March 12th, 2015 at 3:03 pm
Oh Jeagan…you know Lovie’s not worried about the o-line. Stop it with such silliness. lol
March 12th, 2015 at 3:06 pm
87…..guess you’re right. I mean it’s not like our o-line sucked last year, did it 🙂 !
March 12th, 2015 at 3:11 pm
wonder if Melton can play LE…J.Smith man RE spot ??
March 12th, 2015 at 3:12 pm
Well this is a first, I agree with the Shamus Fans (the next tenant for the Orient Street Hotel), mechanics won’t be an issue for Shamus on the field………. But then again it will be an issue when he gets to meet the boyz at the Orient Street Hotel.

Looks like the Saints are in full rebuild mode. Everyone on the trading block except for Brees and Brandon Cooks (according to Jeremy Fowler). Time to retool that aging and overpriced roster. We may have company in the NFC South cellar this season….if we don’t get significantly better!
March 12th, 2015 at 3:20 pm
@Jaegan…
Its funny that Brees is so upset at these moves considering he’s probably the main reason these moves have to happen.
March 12th, 2015 at 3:36 pm
Celly
Yes that is funny. I doubt Brees went into management with an offer to renegotiate his deal to provide some cap relief.
I’m actually kind of pumped about Melton. He did well last year with a brand new team and coming off a bad knee injury.
Another year for his knee to heal could really help.
I thought Revis played admirably for us his first year back but he seemed better last year after a year of healing.

J Smith should be heavily involved in the rotation at de…..he did good with limited snaps last season. What ever happened to william goldston??????.
