More Trades, Less “High-Ticket” Purchases

This Tampa Bay Buccaneers regime has been wheeling and dealing.
Trades are rather rare in the NFL, but the Bucs dumped five players — in five separate trades — in 2014.
Esteemed eye-RAH! Kaufman, of The Tampa Tribune, predicts more trades are coming between now and the night of April 30, the start of the 2015 NFL Draft.
Kaufman told the Pewter Panel on Buccaneers.com that he expects the Bucs to “stockpile” more picks between now and then and enter the draft with a “bounty full” of selections.
So who’s on the trade block, Kaufman? Those names weren’t revealed, but Joe suspects the Bucs would be happy to listen to offers for every player currently on their offense not named Mike Evans or Austin-Seferian Jenkins.
As for free agency, Kaufman said he sees the Bucs being “a little less active in the high ticket priced free agents, a little less.” Joe agrees, but that doesn’t say much. It would be almost impossible for the Bucs to match their shopping spree of 2014.

I think I might be one of the only people here who WON’T be shocked come FA and Glennon is still a Buccaneer, come draft when the Bucs pass on a QB with the #1 pick, and come training camp when Glennon is penciled in as the starting Bucs QB on the depth chart?

Remember “Cinny” offered him a comparable contract-before he signed with us. He was productive in their system+plus we’ve done most of the heavy lifting with his contract. So don’t rule it out.

Doubt Collins can be traded…..Johnson may be difficult also…
Glennon has trade value….I’d hold out for a 2nd round pick or play him while our new rookie develops…..trade him in mid-season (someone always loses a QB to injury)….but if we can get 2nd round for him…take it.

Luv – Glennon is the only player on your 1st post who is tradeable.
Johnson, Collins and Goldson all have overpriced contracts and crappy play on tape. No team would even want to take on any of those 3 players current contracts – much less give up draft picks or players for the “privilege” of doing so.

Read JBF my fellow Bucs fan…Licht and Lovie have had praise for Glennon and stated he is in their plans, it has been eluded that Koetter sees a lot of Matt Ryan qualities in Glennon as well as Lovie stating his coaches like Glennon, and most important he is still the QB on the roster after so many here guaranteed the Bucs were drafting a QB last year, that McCown was going to mentor Winston or Mariota this year, blah blah. While many here are so busy reading the tea leaves and connecting the dots on whether the Bucs are drafting Mariota or Winston you’re missing the scenario playing out right in front of your noses…the plan is Glennon (and most likely drafting a day 2 or 3 QB as competition/backup). Simple as that

I’m with you but I’m a total biased MGMer. Not without cause mind you. I know the all-knowing bucs fanbase with their outstanding record of having star qbs disagree but Glennon is the best qb we’ve had since Jeff Garcia.

Lovie’s position on Glennon is quite reasonable for three reasons…
If we trade down and keep him
If we keep him as interim starter
If we intend to trade him
In all three of those cases you want to be positive in order to prepare the fanbase or possible suitors
Even though we got rid of McCown…..I think we are trading him.
Now here is a good question…..Why would we take time to interview Holliday from Washington?
Are we planning on perhaps trading down?
Are we planning to draft two spread QBs
To me….those are the only reasons to have interest in a late roung spread QB…..

no faith in licht or lovie to get anything right…the correct decision is to grab one of the qbs and then go from there….get some GOOD FA OL, not the crap they did last year

sad part is for all the trades they did last year the team got substantially worse, and even worse, licht got his a$$ handed to him in the negotiating.
I don’t doubt there will be trades, but will we be better off for it? I doubt it.
I hope they trade Glennon if they don’t have plans to start him. Same with Doug Martin. They both deserve better.

Joe knows football! Joe knows Lovie!! Joe is wringing his paws with anticipation of the Lovie-meister trading down in the draft to take more picks instead of taking a leap of faith on the Rapist Jameis Winston. I do not care how much the Rapist Mob pays to media types to say he was cleared….he was not cleared…he was not declared innocent…he was shielded by FSU and TPD to the point where delays & his own destruction of the video that could prove his innocence were not available.
How many top 10 QB’s in the last 5 years have been “franchise QB’s”?? 1) Andrew Luck.
Bryce Petty at Baylor is going to be a prize in the 3rd round. He could allow the Lovie-meister to garner a handful of more picks…give the Browns a shot at Mariota or the Rapist, and bring a quality QB to Tampa.
If anyone says they have a crystal ball and can predict if Winston will be an Andrew Luck (not even close) or a Jadavean Clowney, they are blowing smoke up the Big Poodle’s hula skirt! The success of non-first round QB’s (Russell Wilson & Kap) are just a couple of examples of quality talent evaluation and football intelligence.
Unfortunately, the Lovie-meister has no talent evaluation expertise and/or football intelligence. My suggestion is Joe gets the Lovie-mester drunk, places the names of the top 6 QB’s (college) on a dart board, and have him throw a dart. That would qualify as expert talent evaluation for the Lovie-meister!

If Glennon has no future with the team why is he still aBuccaneer? I have no idea what the reality in Lovie, Koetter, Licht’s minds are about not playing Glennon in December, but I’m sure we can all come up with possible scenarios to fit our viewpoint. The fact is though no other QB was drafted last season and Glennon is still on the Buccaneers…those actions speak louder than any words

Would you clowns quit trying to trade away the capable backup QB we have in Glennon. Geeeesh, if Phoenix proved anything last year it was what Jon Gruden said, “you can’t ever have enough good QB’s on your team.”
Love to get rid of Goldson who has done nothing since he got here except commit personal fouls.
We have two RB’s with similar styles so one of them could go but would prefer we keep the Hamster.
Seriously, due to the poor drafting of the last 10 years, we really don’t have that much to trade.

He was “cleared” and exonerated by two different board or inquiries. He was not ever called innocents because he was not charged with anything you bufoon.

Bro, love what you do but seriously, other than Glennon, none of those players are worth their contract let alone a draft pick in return. Michael Johnson will likely be retained for the purpose of not taking a hit without giving him a shot at the roster. Collins is vastly overpaid. Goldson is a safety that was never worth that money… perhaps they get a conditional pick for him.
If we're trading… first look at Doug, then Bobby, and Mike. Vincent is still a possibility. Johnson, if traded, will still be a big cap hit, which might be attractive to other teams because that hit will be on the Bucs and not so much on the new team… in his case I can see him fetching more than a 5th… the others… not a chance.

Forget Shameis and take the one true stud in this draft. Williams from USC is a beast that would solidify our D Line for a decade. Draft Hundley in the 2nd and let him play 2nd fiddle to Glennon for a while.
As for trades. Doug Martin is a no brainer. Vjax will be cut so thats not an issue. If we can get even a 7th round pick for Goldson, jump on it. Johnson will be back. The guy has talent when healthy. Collins is well…Collins. Good luck but I’m sure we could get something for him.
30-40 million and 3 picks in the top 65 currently is plenty to help build a formidable foundation. Any extra picks we get at this point will only be trade bait to help move around in the draft. I’m expecting some drastic changes around One Buc Place. Can’t wait, the excitement is so compelling and discouraging at the same time. Patience is not a virtue in my life.
