Inevitable Greg Hardy Lust

February 9th, 2015
BushPittman

During the glory years, Bucs fans, and the President, embraced a running back with a bad history.

Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy is a manbeast young Pro Bowl pass rusher who missed nearly all of last season courtesy of the NFL, a result of a North Carolina judge saying he was guilty of misdemeanor domestic abuse. (Chilling and sometimes humorous highlights here.)

But Hardy appealed and demanded a jury trial, and his case was thrown out today.

It seems his girlfriend, the alleged victim, didn’t show up and reached a financial settlement with Hardy. Regardless, he’s a free man, and could be a free-agent man when the dinner bell rings on NFL free agency in 29 short days.

Hardy turns 27 this summer and played one game last year, an opening-day, one-sack, one-forced-fumble against the Bucs. He had 15 sacks in 2013, and 11 in 2012.

Joe’s heard the chatter on sports radio and elsewhere, Bucs fans are aching for an edge pass rusher and some believe Hardy should be a target of Tampa Bay.

Yes, Hardy is a lot better than ghostly Michael Johnson and likely could be a devastating force alongside Gerald McCoy, and Hardy has experience in a defense very similar to the Bucs’.

Joe’s got mixed feelings about pursuing Hardy, given his legal history. The situation reminds Joe of when the Bucs pursued Michael Pittman in free agency after he had multiple convictions of domestic violence on his record.

Bucs fans seemed to be fine with that move.

    Not guilty……doesn’t mean innocent…..Hardy deserves a 2nd chance…..somewhere else.

  2. nybucsfan424 Says:

lets bring in ray rice too!

think about it Hardy, Rice, Winston imagine those three going out for a night on the town…… 😉

  3. Alexstotle00 Says:

    If we draft winston
    Let’s just get Hardy too

  4. Robert 9 Says:

    oh yeah baby!!!

sign him, sign ray rice, sign winston!!

hide your kids, hide your wife, they be……erybody up in here tonight!!

but hey, if thats what the fans want!!!

  5. Robert 9 Says:

hardy, winston and rice walk into a bar…

So Hardy scares you a little but Winston doesn’t as the Face of the franchise? Doesn’t make sense to me.

IMO, Hardy should be given a 2nd chance, just not with this team. We are too young and have no real veteran leadership to steer him away from bad mistakes. That’s the #1 reason I don’t want Wisnton, him staying in FL with all his friends and family is a recipe for failure.

  7. Eric Says:

Jameis not only has never been convicted but also has never been charged with any crime.

I would take this Hardy guy in a heartbeat. Would really upgrade our pass rush.

Belichick had no trouble with Blount or Talib.

  8. Bee Says:

    Bucsfan4lyfe

Winston hasnt been convicted or even arrested. Big difference between him and Hardy.

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Maybe Hardy just has a brash off-field behavior or swagger?….Let’s look the other way…..arm the Buc Cheerleaders and bring him in…..

  10. WS99 Says:

Hey while we are at it lets bring in Richie Incognito too, oh wait too late a coach with some cohones (balls) already signed Richie.

Bring back “Bucco Bruce” some in this fanbase and players relate best to the “happy” pirate.

  11. Jonathan Says:

Wow You guys are willing to suck for another decade because we don’t want to give a person another chance. We could probably get hardy for cheap with a clause in his contract for behavior. Pick him up maybe Suh and our front four would be feared again. Look at this point I wouldn’t care if we had the group from the movie the longest yard if we could win some damn football games. Get rid of Johnson, mcCown, bowers, koean, and we would have enough cap room to make the difference.

  12. Robert 9 Says:

their gonna need an abuse hotline at OBP

  13. adamant Says:

The Bucs would be foolish not to bring in a guy with Hardy’s skills and abilities. He would immediately upgrade the D-line and what a force they would have on the left side of the line with Hardy and McCoy. BTW – Winston is the obvious choice for the #1 pick too. Ability trumps possible off-field issues. Pick Winston and sign Hardy. No brainers.

    LOL

  16. bucsfan4lyf Says:

    @ Bee

Never said he was convicted or arrested, but everyone knows that he has made stupid decisions (more than once) and has been alleged to 2 rape crimes, both dismissed.

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo has a mancrush on Hardy…….but he thinks Ray Rice has “little man’s disease”……Pablo is against hitting women….but in favor of hitting on women. Pablo hit a woman only once….right in the Adam’s Apple”

  18. Barry Says:

Hardy yes, #TheCreepyCrab No. Hardy not the face of the Franchise.

    100% false.

  20. Jonathan Says:

Sh!t even Pittman ran over his wife with a hummer, but hebaso ran over defenders al the way to the big game. Hardy slapped his wife around. Not saying any of these acts are excuseable but everyone deserves a second chance. Our defense has lacked the tenacity since 2001. Let’s get the nastiest defensive players that money can buy. Hell if we could out bid everyone and I could dream. I would have Hardy, Houston at DE. Suh at DT. cromartie at CB and our defense would be number one for years to come. Then during the draft pick up Winston and focus on the O-line. Now if that happened I would lose my mind.

  21. WS99 Says:

“New coach Rex Ryan wants to build a tough-minded team with a focus on the ground attack.”

What is this “tough” thing this New Yorker speaks of. We know not what it means in TB. Is that like a tall choir boy?

He paid her off, then she vanished so she couldn’t testify.

Yes, even at 2-14, I care about a man who choked a woman, threatened to kill her, then paid her off so he would escape trial for it.

I don’t want him anywhere near my Bucs.

  31. Eric Says:

joe you should bar some of these clowns, Winston had sex with a chick who has changed her story what 6 times get over Johnny some of Beckies like Black Men you will not change that! Hardy had what one incident now we should not pursue him get it through your thick skulls clowns you will not win in the league with a bunch of choir boys we have a few VJ, GMC, and Lavonte they will balance out the other guys and keep them in line. If you don’t believe me think back remember Sapp, Pittman were balanced out by Gruber, Brooks, Lynch, etc. we needs guys with attitudes and who can play we don’t need Chamber of Commerce Candidates at this point if one end up being that ok cool but we don’t need that now we need football players period! By the way AC. MJ and EDS are considered great guys what did that get us last year!

  32. Jonathan Says:

Bird moral compass equals another decade of our team sucking ass?

  33. SOEbuc Says:

I just said this on bucs nation earlier and now this article appears on JBF. I am drooling for Greg Hardy. Hardy, GMC, Mcdonald, and Jacquies!!! That is a scary ass d-line. With his legal issues he should come cheaper than what he’s worth on the field

  34. Robert 9 Says:

roids, they do a body good.

not so good for the broads though

  35. rayjay1122 Says:

Let’s go get him. Ni disrespect intended to anyone who disagrees with me on this, but I am sick of having a bunch of choir boys who can’t win a football game. I would rather have a team full of idiots who can play at a high level and kick ass!!! Sick of losing!!! Now, that being said, I do realize that bad character players are a risk to not be able to contribute if suspended or in jail, but we have to do something major and we can’t fix everything in the draft. This is just my opinion though and it is not any more important than those who have differing views.

  38. feelthepewterpower Says:

Funny thing is, Bucs fans will groan when/if we bring these types of players in, but will be cheering right along side everyone else when we are winning.

  39. Eric Says:

    Warren Sapp.

Bad ass jerk, violent rude bastard.

Loved watching him play football. Didn’t bother me in the least.

    Get Hardy.

  40. Jonathan Says:

Eric let’s not forget WS99 got arrested for solicitation of a prostitute and when they asked for more money he beat them. I don’t think WS99 should talk about hardy lmao.

  41. Tampabaybucfan Says:

No way the stinking Panthers won’t give their beloved Hardy everything he wants to return……
They will outbid everyone for his wonderful services……they are also waiting for a jailbreak from Ray Carruth.

  42. Jack Says:

An out of court settlement is an admisson of guilt. PASS

  46. WS99 Says:

Check that, I might be wrong on that as new articles today state he does want him back but the owner is hesitant bc he runs “a classy organization”.

  47. Mr. Patrick Says:

Hardy and Winston could share a cell over at the Orient Road Jail. Don’t worry 87, I’m sure you could get conjugal visits

  48. Lion Says:

I mentioned this in my last post before I got to this article. I say we should pursue him very hard and dump Goldson to conver his salary. Also, keep Johnson and give him one more year to price himself. If he can’t do it with Hardy and GMC then he is by far a lost cause.

  49. Jonathan Says:

    Ws99 I was joking

  50. Lion Says:

Prove not price. Let’s see what he can do with no injuries as exuses.

  51. WS99 Says:

    All good!

  52. Tom S. Says:

One of the biggest reasons why you don’t go after Hardy if you are the Bucs is because if you draft Winston, it’s going to get Winston thrown in the same boat as Hardy as you are already seeing happen in the comments. Not worth it. Especially considering Hardy was actually charged and convicted of DV and was acquitted only because the defendant failed to cooperate.

  53. LargoBuc Says:

Imagine Hardy and Mccoy on our line. Offenses would have to gameplan and adjust when they play the Bucs. Opposing quarterbacks will know when they come to rayjay they’re gonna get hit and they’re gonna get hit HARD! Its going to be hot humid and uncomfortable. It all starts with Greg Hardy joining Gerald Mccoy on the Bucs. That sounds like a bad @ss combo. Wouldnt it be nice for other teams and their fans to be like uh oh we gotta play Tampa this week. Well bring in Hardy will be a pretty good start. Sure he may take the money and run but you run that risk with every free agent and every draft pick.

  54. SteveK Says:

Another amazing fail by Mark Dominick.

Dominick selected a punter in the 6th round, when Hardy was still on the board. The punter, Brent Bowden, was promptly cut in training camp.

I’m interested in Greg Hardy, along the same lines as Jameis, or Adrian Peterson: they can ball.

  56. Couch Fan Says:

You dont make personnell decisions based on public opinion. There will always be ppl like Mr Patrick and the rest of the choir boy lovers. There opinions will not sway The Glazers & Lovie/Licht. They can threaten not to renew there seats all they want it means nothing because those tickets will be bought up by real fans once the wins start coming. Bring him to Tampa!!

  57. Tampabaybucfan Says:

It seems to me that there just might be someone out there that has a pass rush that also doesn’t beat women…….as with any other product…..the price will be higher.
Someone will sign Hardy…and, they will probably get a good deal….he will also be motivated to proove himself.
If a mattress on the lawn & stripper pole in your LR gets you the boot from the Bucs….I think DV will be a non-starter.

  58. Eric Says:

    Amazing puritans on here.

You can go down all day to he packed domestic violence court right here in Tampa.

People rarely lose their jobs over it.

It’s a football team. None of you people’s business. The victim didn’t even show up for the proceedings.

That would be one huge hole this guy could fill.

  59. rayjay1122 Says:

    @Couch

Exactly!!!!! People will forget what kind of people ore playing on this team if we are winning championships. I think Sapp was and is a douche but I sure did love him on the field. Get some bad ass individuals on this team and if Lovie is too much of a choir boy to ok those type of players, then get a bad ass coach too.

  60. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Hardy and Winston bring to the Bucs what they are SORELY missing……SWAGGER!!!!!

    Something Sapp brought EVERY day.

  61. lord cornelius Says:

The difference between Hardy & Winston is that Hardy’s accusor’s story actually lines up with evidence and she hasn’t changed it multiple times to suit a different narrative.

He also obviously has payed her off lol. While Winston hasn’t.

I can actually feel pretty confident Hardy beat a woman from what I’ve read. Can’t feel any sort of confidence that Winston raped that girl. Not when the accusor has been discredited multiple times.

Even for the people who keep pluggin their ears and saying “na na na na FSU covered it up na na na na he raped her he raped her” they never can explain why the accusor’s story has changed multiple times to fit her narrative.

  62. Skyline Crew Says:

This talk of getting Suh is laughable. WE CAN’T AFFORD HIM. No way we are having 2 DT at $100 million a piece. hahaha. You guys kill me.

  63. Buctebow Says:

Well the Bucs had Jeremy Stevens and he was even worse that Hardy or Rice. Sometimes you just have to give people another chance, it’s up to them whether they work out or not. I would bet Hardy’s contract will be a little more team friendly now, so it might be a steal.

  64. ufcguy Says:

Ill take hardy. We need one tough guy on this line. Every single one of them are soft. Lack tenacity. Give me suh or hardy

  65. Espo Says:

If she didn’t stick to it she is a LIAR. Either lying to get him in trouble before or lying to get him out of it.

This could be one of the few free agents that pan out. Jump on it!

  66. Martinii Says:

Can’t the league still suspend Hardy for violation of league domestic abuse policy, regardless of his court verdict?

  67. Espo Says:

Michael Johnson tried to hit his wife but missed. Apparently he got blocked by a potato.

  68. Dreambig Says:

No one can seriously want Suh. How many times have we seen him intentionally kick or step on players trying to hurt them. When he purposefully stepped on Rodgers last year he should have been suspended for at least one game, maybe more. He is lucky the NFL hasn’t thrown his sorry butt out of the league!

  69. Eric Says:

Ray Lewis was put on trial for murder, then during the trial pled guilty to obstruction of justice because he lied to the police.

Super Bowl MVP the next season.

And he is on the airwaves commenting all the time.

But we can’t sign a guy who has a domestic violence charge but no conviction?

  70. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

It was DOMESTIC ABUSE! Not RAPE. Big difference.

    Grow up, people, lol.

  71. Phil Says:

We should try to sign Hardy. He would be a big improvement over anyone on our team. And the NFL needs to stop not letting these players play. If they aren’t locked up they should be able to play.

  72. WS99 Says:

    Bucco Bruce says:

But Suh stepped on a player. As my 3 yr old daughter says “that’s not nice”.

    BONZI

Once again you prove what a hypocrite moron that you are. Read your post again, fool. You are saying it’s ok to commit domestic violence but not ok to rape. so you are endorsing domestic violence or dismissing domestic violence has common place.

More women are killed every year from domestic violence than rape. Domestic violence is every bit as serious of an offense.

Just another hypocrite with a agenda. Bonzi, Jameis has more class in his little pinky than you every will have.

Bonzi, Barry, Mr. Patrick, Robert 9 all should never leave your perfect little bubbles…

  75. Robert 9 Says:

there’s all kinds of domestic violence.

sometimes you gotta keep your girl in check.

sometimes they get all ballistic on you and when you defend yourself and the cops show up…guess who’s going to jail.

then there’s those crazy mofo’s that really should be locked up!

a lot of domestic violence is on the woman, but the man bears the brunt. I’m not endorsing it, just sayin………

we all know all a woman has to do is cry and the cop be all like “what did that bad man do to you?”

  76. tmaxcon Says:

    bonzi,

here is a lovely fact for you since it was ONLY Domestic abuse….

Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the United States, more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined. (“Violence Against Women, A Majority Staff Report,” Committee on the Judiciary, United States Senate, 102nd Congress, October 1992, p.3.)

Battering occurs among people of all races, ages, socio-economic classes, religious affiliations, occupations, and educational backgrounds.

taken from national domestic violence database.

  77. tmaxcon Says:

robert 9 – i hope the next time you keep your girl in check she nut punches you.

you are killing me here. WOW

  78. Robert 9 Says:

nah, i keep the pimp hand close these days. women be trippin though

no need to go to the pokey.

  79. Robert 9 Says:

I would bet women are the number one cause for males cars being vandalized, but you never hear about that.

or when they beat on their man. every been punched in the mouth while your sleeping by a woman?

ever had her knife your furniture or destroy your car or bite your finger and almost severe it. had her dog pee on you in your sleep?

the cops laugh at you when you call them because of a crazy ho, but you never read that on the news.

  80. WS99 Says:

    Robert9

All jokes aside look at what happened to tiger woods. His wife beat him w a golf club and the boy hasn’t been right since. Did she go to jail? Nope! Just saying, the struggle IS real.

  81. tmaxcon Says:

    robert 9 –

I feel you. I have had my share of crazies back in the day. you just can’t hit em. silent treatment is the best way to piss off a woman. they hate being ignored more than anything.

  82. tmaxcon Says:

had her dog pee on you in your sleep?

Now that’s a trained puppy… Dog piss is better than cat piss.

  83. Robert 9 Says:

Dog piss is better than cat piss.

kind of reminds me of the comparison of the bucs current waste of qb’s mccown and glennon except with the #2 being the output.

  86. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ tmaxcon & robert 9

Did you know that 97.8 per cent of women have been battered at some time in their life?

    You know why?

    They just don’t f–kin’ listen!!!

  87. lord cornelius Says:

Well at least we learned Robert 9 has had some interesting dating experiences lol. Women can be crazy. Best to avoid those types if possible

  88. David Says:

Yeah, lets sign a wife-beater and then draft a rapist.

Feminists will be protesting outside every home game.

  89. Rob Says:

Anybody who wants to sign Hardy should have to let Jameis move in with them.

  90. WS99 Says:

    Tbbf

You ain’t right for that. Lmao anonymously.

  91. bucrightoff Says:

Hardy seems like a textbook guy who if we signed him would immediately go operation shutdown after getting paid. Not worth the risk.

  92. BucDaddy Says:

Bring him in. No Choir boys. Let’s do this! WIN NOW!

  93. Pickgrin Says:

If the price is right and if the contract protections are in place and if he’s willing to come play for the Bucs instead of another team – by all means. That’s a lot of ifs though. Seems pretty unlikely to me but I sure would love to see the Bucs leave no stone unturned to upgrade the talent round these parts at about 9 starting positions. DE is pretty high up that list. Go for it Bucs. Take a chance on talent and cut him if he can’t keep his nose clean.

  94. BoJim Says:

I want all the other teams to hate us and hate playing us.

  95. ddneast Says:

Robert 9 seems to speak from a lot of experience about psychotic women and domestic abuse. Why doesn’t that surprise me.

  96. bucs4lyfe Says:

another high priced free agent!!!! the bucs problem is they cant draft well enough to get players into their second contracts. here we are talking about giving another problem child a max contract for something he did for some other team but probably the same people that hate Winston…..no wonder this is a losing franchise, the fact that this is even a topic says it all

  97. JFF Says:

Hardy is the best free agent on the market and fills a huge need for the Bucs. Tough call here deciding between on-field and off-field matters. If Hardy isn’t a violent nutbar then you break the bank for him, but being a violent nutbar is what makes him such a good football player in the first place.

Can the Bucs afford to go another year spending a ton of resources on the DL with little to show for it? Hardy is a sure thing to produce as long as he’s not arrested again, so that’d be some nice closure. If not him then we might end up with another Adams/Moore/Moore/Price/Clayborn/Bowers/M. Johnson situation with more picks and guaranteed $$$ wasted trying to find a pass rusher who can make the ancient, expired & obsolete Tampa 2 defense work. Woohoo.
