NFC Championship Game Open Thread
January 18th, 2015Ahh, it’s Championship Sunday! Great football is sure to grace the tube. It should look nothing a 2014 Buccaneers game.
Green Bay heads to Seattle in the NFC. Kickoff is 3:05 p.m. on FOX.
Joe expects the Packers to struggle. Green Bay didn’t score a lot of points on the road this season, and Aaron Rodgers is banged up, and Seattle’s defense is nasty. Plus, don’t forget the loud Seattle crowd that will be too noisy for Rodgers to change much at the line of scrimmage.
Joe’s going to call Seattle 27, Green Bay 17.
Bang it here all game long in the comments section with fellow Bucs fans. Joe wishes cold beer and great barbecue for all.
January 18th, 2015 at 3:11 pm
Hope Seattle losses. But with a soft GB D and Rodgers hurt it will be a blowout. Both championship games will be blowouts.
January 18th, 2015 at 3:12 pm
Draft Jameis!!
January 18th, 2015 at 3:15 pm
Seattle and NE
But Im pulling for Green Bay and Indy
January 18th, 2015 at 3:25 pm
Come on Green Bay!!
January 18th, 2015 at 4:05 pm
Seattle and Indy for me. I just wanna see RW and Luck go toe to toe in the SB.
January 18th, 2015 at 4:06 pm
Cool! Ty 4 thread joe
January 18th, 2015 at 4:07 pm
Williams is a fa
January 18th, 2015 at 4:11 pm
Glennon is at his best in the uptempo no huddle off. Give him 2.5 secs and he’s good.
January 18th, 2015 at 4:14 pm
Nice INT. Go Seahawks!
January 18th, 2015 at 4:14 pm
I wish we had a corner like Sherman oh wait we did and traded him.
January 18th, 2015 at 4:18 pm
Don’t want Mariota. Don’t wouldn’t want R. Wilson.
January 18th, 2015 at 4:37 pm
Draft Famous
January 18th, 2015 at 4:42 pm
Smart man, thanks for the thread Joe!
January 18th, 2015 at 4:53 pm
GB ahead early! Go Packers! I don’t need no stinking super bowl being won twice in a row by our expansion mates.
January 18th, 2015 at 4:58 pm
Can’t believe we didn’t even try to resign Bennett
January 18th, 2015 at 5:04 pm
@ Dr J
Agreed. Still a head scratcher
January 18th, 2015 at 5:09 pm
seahawks are tanking.. 🙂
January 18th, 2015 at 5:10 pm
Man, didnt see this Green Bay D sneak attack coming. They’re looking more like the legion of boom…..
January 18th, 2015 at 5:11 pm
@ Soggy
LOL
January 18th, 2015 at 5:12 pm
No to Mariota… No to R. Wilson.
January 18th, 2015 at 5:13 pm
@ bucfan 37 i completely agree with u
January 18th, 2015 at 5:14 pm
Russell needs to start breaking the pocket for a few runs
January 18th, 2015 at 5:14 pm
Hey Luv, Chickillo is projected round 5 to 6….I would def draft him in the 5th….his partner from the game Zadarius Smith is projected 3 to 4.
January 18th, 2015 at 5:18 pm
Go to the Spread, and run outside of the pocket
January 18th, 2015 at 5:18 pm
Stuck at Pizza Hut waiting for my order so I can get home and watch the game but they don’t have the game on! They are showing bowling on bspn, wtf?!
January 18th, 2015 at 5:20 pm
@MadMax
Looking for them both, to get the invite to the Senior Bowl. To see how they fair against a step up in competition.
January 18th, 2015 at 5:21 pm
@MM
I’m with you. Always love to see our local boys do well
January 18th, 2015 at 5:21 pm
Necked Bootleg time
January 18th, 2015 at 5:25 pm
No to Mariota.. No To R. Wilson.
January 18th, 2015 at 5:26 pm
Seattle got off to a Raheem Morris start.
January 18th, 2015 at 5:28 pm
Seattle is not a high scoring team. Packers are sitting pretty here. GB will score more points in the second half. I keep thinking about the Buc- Seahawk matchup when the Bucs squandered a 21 point lead out there. Seattle is not dead yet.
January 18th, 2015 at 5:39 pm
No. Packers will go all the way. Colts win today as well.
January 18th, 2015 at 5:40 pm
What happened to mariota….I mean wilson when the scramble was taken away and throwing from the pocket was necessary. But hey anything is better than WINSTON, right?
January 18th, 2015 at 5:42 pm
The Colt’s ousting the Pats would even be sweeter than GB beating the hawks, imo.
January 18th, 2015 at 5:53 pm
@Newbucsfan… Seattle has a trash WR corps. Game plan is perfect by GB tho.
January 18th, 2015 at 6:07 pm
Packers prevent pass D looked like moldy swiss cheeze.
January 18th, 2015 at 6:08 pm
Nice fake kick..
January 18th, 2015 at 6:08 pm
If your QB can’t throw a TD pass then let your holder throw one
January 18th, 2015 at 6:08 pm
Has anybody kept count of how many times either Wilson or Rodgers have taken a snap from under center?
Seriously. I missed the first ten minutes. I don’t think I’ve seen a single freaking snap from under center.
Sorry, Jameis MAY be the correct pick but all this bs about snaps from under center is just a straw man argument.
Mariota is representative of the future in the NFL. Not that Jameis can’t learn to take snaps in the gun or run a more spread offense.
January 18th, 2015 at 6:09 pm
With the first pick the buck take a holder.. 🙂
January 18th, 2015 at 6:10 pm
Bucs^^^
January 18th, 2015 at 6:11 pm
@Mr Patrick
Yes. And this is why I am not on board with the punter doing the holding. Used to always be the backup QB.
I understand that the punter and kicker have more time on their hands to practice together while the backup QB has to learn that week’s offensive game plan but I love the versatility and threat of a QB taking that snap for the FG.
Unless of course it’s Tony Romo! 🙂
January 18th, 2015 at 6:16 pm
momentum is changing
January 18th, 2015 at 6:18 pm
Wow, what a mojo changer that fake kick was. Packers special teams coaching remind me of ours. You would think instead of worrying about blocking the kick they would guard against the fake. Terrible coaching. Pack are getting outcoached right now and Rodgers misses an easy screen and does not look good.
January 18th, 2015 at 6:18 pm
Green Bay and Indy!
January 18th, 2015 at 6:20 pm
Wilson thus far is having a horrible day.
January 18th, 2015 at 6:21 pm
INDY
I’m with you! I like Luck soooo much better than crybaby Brady.
January 18th, 2015 at 6:23 pm
Ya rooting for indy also
January 18th, 2015 at 6:29 pm
What happened to Mike James. He’s the only back we have with enough size to go into “beast mode”. We need our own Lacy/Lynch and James is the only player who is big enough and powerful enough to do the job.
Either that or draft a lode. Doug can sometimes run hard but he’s just not punishing until he gets well into the secondary against DB’s. Rainey and Sims don’t punish anybody.
January 18th, 2015 at 6:32 pm
no way will 2 first round qb picks make it to the superbowl. impossible.
(sarcasm)
January 18th, 2015 at 6:34 pm
Ya we need our alstott the 2nd
January 18th, 2015 at 6:35 pm
Gotta give it to the Packers. The Pack is back. I hope this is not too early.
January 18th, 2015 at 6:35 pm
Exactly Soggy. Where’s an Alstott when you need him?
Hey there is at least one player having a great game that we can match.
Green Bay’s kicker. At least we’re set at Placekicker. Punter? Not so sure.
January 18th, 2015 at 6:36 pm
Lurker
50% of the QB’s in the final four were taken in the 3rd round or later. I think we can give this one to Green Bay although there’s still plenty of time.
OTOH have you already written off Tom Brady?
January 18th, 2015 at 6:36 pm
@ St. Pete
Mike James is still with us but you have to get to 3rd & 1 to use him effectively…& we are usually 3rd & 9 or more…
January 18th, 2015 at 6:38 pm
St Pete need a calculator for that one?
January 18th, 2015 at 6:45 pm
@TBBF
Yeah I remember James on 3 and 1 but why not use him more like Lynch or Lacy?
I love a nice 8-12 yard gain on second and five. But I certainly take your point.
We rarely get to 2nd and five.
January 18th, 2015 at 6:45 pm
Hard as heck to repeat.
January 18th, 2015 at 6:46 pm
nope, wrote noone off. made a sarcastic comment since there are people saying we shouldn’t take a qb in the first because they can be had later. we need to take the risk…every position busts. last year’s #1 hasn’t helped his team yet.
January 18th, 2015 at 6:46 pm
I’m waiting for the crowd to become silent.
January 18th, 2015 at 6:47 pm
@RO
LOL Actually I’m pretty good at that kind of stuff. My father was a bookie. He was a 7th grade dropout but great at math.
He could take a scratch pad and figure out a parlay in seconds. Try it. $2 bet on a horse that pays 7.20 that rolls over to a horse that pays 16.40?
January 18th, 2015 at 6:48 pm
was that costly drop by GB?
January 18th, 2015 at 6:48 pm
Boy Seattle really needs a Percy Harvin type to be Super Bowl successful it seems.
January 18th, 2015 at 6:48 pm
i think it would be great if the colts won since they do the ric flair!
January 18th, 2015 at 6:48 pm
We should just snatch ourselves a Tom Brady in the later rounds.
Problem solved.
January 18th, 2015 at 6:50 pm
Nope..
January 18th, 2015 at 6:51 pm
Actually RO I made that challenge far too easy. Try it when the bettor only lays 50 cents. As long as they match the $2 of the track it’s pretty easy.
You can tell from my example I clearly was not as good as my 7th grade dropout father. I worked for him a couple of summers and decided being a bookie wasn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.
January 18th, 2015 at 6:52 pm
Winston sucks….he’s a rapist, kleptomaniac, vulgar thug that throws a lot of interceptions……and Mariota is a sissy!!!
Now….I don’t believe any of this but I wanted to be provacative!!!
Its been a bit boring being the TBBF lately….
January 18th, 2015 at 6:53 pm
That’s got to be the worst stats in a playoff game for a QB ever.
72 yards 4ints.
Worse than the 79 Doug Williams Mike Rae fiasco.
But not sure about King in 99.

January 18th, 2015 at 6:54 pm
Joe…come back up north for a while and refresh your perspective….I’m in Packerland and know what a real GM looks like, a real HC, and a real QB. Dom was….Smith….Manziel…all second or third rate substitutes. Come home for a few months, immerse yourself in some title town Midwestern culture, and then look at what is going on with the Bucs. This organization is miles away from being competitive.
January 18th, 2015 at 6:55 pm
and the cheerleaders, too

January 18th, 2015 at 6:56 pm
We have been in the playoffs a few times. Then we fire the coach responsible for it………
January 18th, 2015 at 6:57 pm
Man that lynch is something else..
January 18th, 2015 at 6:58 pm

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12188787/lane-kiffin-front-runner-san-francisco-49ers-oc
man, this guy has more lives than a cat…lol
January 18th, 2015 at 7:02 pm
Exactly Eric…..McKay was an average GM…..Gruden had too much power after Richie pulled the plug, and shouldn’t have been given the personnel power he had….but was possibly the best coach we ever had, with TD as the arguable exception.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:04 pm
OMG!!
January 18th, 2015 at 7:06 pm
@StPete, punter Spencer Roth, played in the shrine game, big guy too 6’4 255. While I watching I just kept picturing him as a Buc….he’s projected 7th or FA.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:06 pm
i love me some close nfl games
January 18th, 2015 at 7:06 pm
It’s not over until the fat lady sings.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:07 pm
A potential “Buclike” meltdown by the Pack…
January 18th, 2015 at 7:11 pm
Poor Bostic…..
January 18th, 2015 at 7:11 pm
WOW..
January 18th, 2015 at 7:12 pm
wtf happened to the pack d? wow.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:12 pm
I love football
January 18th, 2015 at 7:12 pm
You know what they say… Rather be lucky than good.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:13 pm
Good luck with this Rodgers.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:13 pm
Russell Wilson finds a way to makes pays!
January 18th, 2015 at 7:14 pm
Packers, you deserve to lose when you can’t recover the onside kick. OT lurking.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:14 pm
whole team effort for seattle…off, def, spec teams
January 18th, 2015 at 7:15 pm
Packers too
January 18th, 2015 at 7:16 pm
pack imploding…
January 18th, 2015 at 7:16 pm
Sherman out there playing w a broken arm. Hmmmm
January 18th, 2015 at 7:17 pm
I’d say momentum shift
January 18th, 2015 at 7:17 pm
OT..
January 18th, 2015 at 7:17 pm
What a great game!
January 18th, 2015 at 7:18 pm
WOW!!!
January 18th, 2015 at 7:20 pm
who wins it now?
January 18th, 2015 at 7:20 pm
Packers should have done the Schiano knee dive play.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:21 pm
Yes a great game after a bad first half with turnovers.
I just hope this is decided cleanly and not on a call like the Pack Boys and the Boys game the week before.
Please let this be decided on the field and not by luck or worst of all the freaking zebras!
January 18th, 2015 at 7:21 pm
@ eric..Lol
January 18th, 2015 at 7:23 pm
Lurker
By whining about your first round picks squaring off hopefully I’ve jinxed it back for the Pack. I want a Pack Indy SB. So I’m rooting for your showdown of first round picks.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:24 pm
chance for the packers d to make amends…
good thing the seahawks won the toss beacause their d was exhausted.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:25 pm
Isn’t it fittlng…..a tie game with a Mariota-like QB vs a Mariota-like QB….
January 18th, 2015 at 7:26 pm
I know if Glennon or McCown were playing, guaranteed sack or pick….
January 18th, 2015 at 7:26 pm
ummmmm…mariota wishes he could pass like rodgers
January 18th, 2015 at 7:28 pm
I’m rooting for the Pack but now that it’s down to OT I fear that Carroll will out coach McCarthy.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:28 pm
lol, i just noticed joe’s scoreboard prediction.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:29 pm
WOW WOW WOW AND WOW
January 18th, 2015 at 7:29 pm
game over
January 18th, 2015 at 7:29 pm
Wow what a gorgeous pass…..
January 18th, 2015 at 7:30 pm
Im glad Im not a Packers fan. Even the Buccaneers would have had a tough time of coming up with the sham job the Pack pulled off today.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:30 pm
yep, what I thought…..alright, go Indy
January 18th, 2015 at 7:30 pm
Such a long, long, long flight back to Green Bay.
OK lurker. A 3rd rounder against a 6th rounder. I’m now trying my best to jinx crybaby Brady.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:31 pm
60 min game. Love it!
January 18th, 2015 at 7:31 pm
i was talking to a homeless man in tacobell in reno about the playoffs. i told him i thought seattle would win it all again…i guess that was my gut call though my heart wants indy winning vs greenbay.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:32 pm
However it happened, you were close on that final prediction Joe.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:32 pm
Maybe Joe shouldn’t go to Green Bay for Midwestern perspective…..
January 18th, 2015 at 7:32 pm
Uh oh. Russell Wilson crying like a baby! Who was it who ranked on Mariota for being a bit choked up right after his National Title loss?
January 18th, 2015 at 7:33 pm
OMG….the crybabies are adding up….now Russell Wilson….tears of joy!!!
January 18th, 2015 at 7:33 pm
no matter which qb’s make the superbowl, all 4 are better than what we have. it will be up to lovie and koetter which qb we get…but we are in dire need of one. have needed one for a few years now.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:33 pm
Dang…they’re all crying. I guess McCown doesn’t look quite so bad.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:34 pm
Sooo… a great defense does beat the best quarterback…
January 18th, 2015 at 7:34 pm
You wont see Lynch in that prayer group at the end…..he’s a great player but what a disrespectful POS as an individual
January 18th, 2015 at 7:34 pm
That was all mike mccarthy fault, that was some lovie Smith type sh*t, your in the lead so you run 3 times and punt continuously talking the ball out of the game of the best qb in football…. That’ll be us in the future
January 18th, 2015 at 7:35 pm
Lurker
We AGREE. We do need a QB. But guess what. Another facet of the games since we’ve been to the final 8 has been effective OL play.
Our OL sucks just as badly as our QB’s. Take the QB but score an LT as well.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:35 pm
i joked about mariota since people couldn’t understand winston talking. also, people harping on mccown and other bucs crying. many posters here are not comfortable with their manhood.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:35 pm
Great Buckin win for the Hawks #Unbelieveable
January 18th, 2015 at 7:36 pm
Too bad we don’t need a TE….Brandon Bostic could be had…..cheap!!!
January 18th, 2015 at 7:36 pm
Oh, how did Mariota errrrr Wilson look. U so dummy
January 18th, 2015 at 7:36 pm
That was fun, Hope the next one is as good or better..
January 18th, 2015 at 7:36 pm
MadMax
Maybe he’s an atheist? I hope you don’t think all atheists are pos.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:37 pm
And there goes Michael Bennett who wasn’t good enough to play on the Bucs but who will play for his second SB ring since being dismissed by the brainchilds here at the Bucs!
January 18th, 2015 at 7:37 pm
That was the definition of a professional throw……guy was covered. Had about a foot of space to lay it in there.
Beautiful.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:37 pm
prayer doesn’t make you a good person…lmao
January 18th, 2015 at 7:39 pm
Lol, nope I dont! Im not even religious. I just hate the way he disrespects the game.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:39 pm
McCarthey should be fired. That loss is on him and not the kid dropping the onside kick.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:39 pm
ummmmm if you think that game boiled down to great defense vs best qb, you weren’t watchin the whole game.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:39 pm
@Eric
“that was the definition of a professional throw……guy was covered. Had about a foot of space to lay it in there.
Beautiful.”
Agree and in fact I thought there was even interference on the play but I’m glad the zebras didn’t call it.
