“He’s Good!”
January 22nd, 2015The past few months have been such an awful trainwreck for the Bucs; Joe doesn’t know where to begin. The end of the season was probably a late Christmas present.
About the only thing that has gone right for the team, aside from the season coming to an end and winning the Chase for Jameis, was the hire of Dirk Koetter as offensive coordinator.
It isn’t just locals saying so. So too are national voices. Earlier this week, NBC Sports analyst and SiriusXM NFL Radio host Ross Tucker, a Princeton grad and former NFL offensive lineman, was asked by WDAE-AM 620 co-hosts Tom Krasniqi and Ronnie Lane what he thought of Koetter.
Tucker thought the Bucs nailed the hire.
“He’s good!” Tucker said. “There are a lot of people that like him. There were a lot of teams that were interested in him. I thought he did a really nice job with Atlanta this year considering their offensive line injuries and some of the other injuries that they had.
“They will find a way to put some points up, to manufacture some offense even if they don’t have as much even without injuries. They have to get that offensive line better. I think he is pretty good.
“I do think it is interesting, though I almost feel like if you were going to draft [Oregon quarterback Marcus] Mariota, I almost feel like you would have gotten Bill Musgrave, who just got hired by the Raiders as their offensive coordinator. You’d almost rather bring in Musgrave because he was the quarterbacks coach with the Eagles. You would almost rather bring in someone who has and knows a lot of elements of Chip [Kelly’s] offense if you are going to draft Mariota.”
Tucker was quick to add that is isn’t like Koetter couldn’t adapt to Mariota to help ease the rookie’s way into the NFL.
You know what would solidify that Koetter is one of the better offensive coordinators in the NFL? If he could somehow use his pixie dust to make turnover-prone Josh McCown into just a below average quarterback.

He’ll be the Bucs HC in a year or 2

It is a little early for hard stuff joe. I believe Koetter will do well but to expect him to do anything with McCown well that would take a miracle. It would be almost like Pacino trying to teach Pee Wee Herman to play a legit gangster.

Waiting for his choice of QB Coach…..
Lovie’s confidence poll will improve because of the Koetter hire…
January 22nd, 2015 at 10:21 am
Why do you need McCown. A bridge? A bridge to what? If Winston is drafted Jameis is supposed to be NFL ready, he is your opening day starter. You have a better backup quarterback (of the future) in Mike Glennon. McCown doesn’t need pixie dust, he is farting dust he’ll be 36 when training camp opens. McCown is a bridge to nowhere.

Hopefully Lovie will not put a restricter plate on him……
Heard Lovie has one on his car that will not allow it to go more than 50 miles per hour…..
Keep in mind, Lovie think he should win games 16-10
Good luck with that…..

The Koetter hire screams “we’re drafting Jameis” to me.
We’re doomed.
January 22nd, 2015 at 10:31 am
Just the thought of trotting that loser McCown out there again makes my stomach turn. Enough already with that waste.
January 22nd, 2015 at 10:31 am
Are we still talking about mccown!?! That ship has sailed hes nothing more than a qb coach. In a uniform if anything. I pray mccown doesnt even touch a ball in 2015
January 22nd, 2015 at 10:33 am
From his days as a college OC at Boston College, all the way to most recently in Atlanta, none of Koetter’s QBs have been runners. They were all drop-back types. Blaine Gabbert ran a spread at Mizzou, but, he’s still more of a drop back QB.
January 22nd, 2015 at 10:40 am
YOU GOT THAT SO RIGHT WALTER !!!!!!! DRAFT MARIOTA IS OUR ONLY HOPE TO HAVE A GOOD QUARTER BACK. WINSTON WILL BRING THIS TEAM DOWN LIKE FREEMAN DID……. WINSTON IS TROUBLE…….
January 22nd, 2015 at 10:42 am
@tom
Lovie wants nothing to do with the offense and everybody knows that. He does not and will not mettle with the offense.
So why don’t you and all you other haters that want the bucs to fail go be a pats fan.
Edited by Joe for hate speech. No need for that kind of talk. –Joe

The Kevin is back with his predictable “idiot”, “moron” and “hater” jabs. This irony is thick and sweet!
January 22nd, 2015 at 10:46 am
Glennon would be a good fit for Koetter but we’ll see.
January 22nd, 2015 at 10:51 am
@thekevin
Is there some reason that you think your opinions matter more than others?
Further, don’t you think the actual owner of the website has the ability to control any comments they don’t find appropriate? Unless, of course, Joe deputized you.
Did Joe deputize you to police the comments? If not, then, what makes you the opinion police?
Do you think you are special? I hate to break it to you, but, everyone’s moms tell them they are special. It’s not really true.

Glennon would be a good fit in NC on the radio with his brother. Glennon is not the answer. Bucs need potential greatness. The bucs must stop settling for mediocrity and other teams garbage at qb.
January 22nd, 2015 at 10:56 am
I think Kevin’s special.
January 22nd, 2015 at 11:02 am
Notice how his moniker is “THE” Kevin…….he is most entertaining…..love how he interjects plenty of name-calling in his comments!
January 22nd, 2015 at 11:21 am
Tom- incessant name calling in lieu of thoughtfully expressing an original opinion is a real sign of a secure, highly intelligent individual!
January 22nd, 2015 at 11:32 am
McCown haters are ridiculous. I saw inspirational performances from the QB with an OC and an OL. I also saw flashes this year, when he wasn’t running for his life. Even made some great plays while running for his life. I’m a Bears fan and was sad to see McCown go, because in the same system Jay Cutler has been less effective that the career backup. That’s a reason to complain about a QB, when they have everything they need around them to be successful, and can’t make it happen. People are too hard on QB’s. Not a Glennon fan, but I bet he would be great too with the right protection in front of him and the right coaches behind him. Winston might be a good pick, but if things aren’t fixed up front he will suffer the same fate as Glennon. Hopefully, the OC pickup will shore up the problems with coaching behind whoever the Bucs put under center, and they can put a focus on that front.

The guy is going to get his shot someday, somewhere. Maybe on a real team too.
January 22nd, 2015 at 11:38 am
Mike Glennon will definitely get his 3rd shot, I just don’t think people are expecting too much from him. I’m certainly not.
January 22nd, 2015 at 11:38 am
biff barker — i hope he does well. I will no ill on anyone but 8 can’t win my team a super bowl so next please.
January 22nd, 2015 at 11:50 am
Is it me or does he kind of look like Rand Paul?
January 22nd, 2015 at 11:52 am
bucrightoff- no, it’s you
January 22nd, 2015 at 12:00 pm
So you already want us to fail.
Gotcha. Soooooo nice having team support from “fans” like you.
Personally, I don’t want a backup QB who is going to run out of bounds on 3rd down instead of lowering his head and going for the first.
I do agree, though. You draft Winston; you install him as your Day 1 starter…
I agree with some of the things you usually have to say.
Let me say that you’ll get your point across better if you stop using the words “idoit”, “moron” and “hater” in EVERY post. When you do that, no one takes you seriously.
Just a heads up.
I support the Koetter hire (obviously, because I have no choice but to) but I don’t care for Glennon as a QB…
…with that being said, If Koetter believes that he can win with Glennon, then I’ll be all about MG8….
…or whoever the starting QB is for the team.
Well, maybe if more people believed what their mom told them, there would be more special people in the world.
Food for thought.
January 22nd, 2015 at 12:17 pm
I’m thankful

“Well, maybe if more people believed what their mom told them, there would be more special people in the world.”
How sweet?!! You and the “The Kevin” should get a room, not in your mom’s basement!
January 22nd, 2015 at 2:12 pm
If you think McCown is turnover prone you’re in for a treat when Winston plays. No one throws more passes into heavy traffic.
January 22nd, 2015 at 2:38 pm
@ anyone that doesn’t want to see McCown on the field in 2015
Who the heck you gonna have throwing the football? With the current OL you know what will happen to Glennon. And please, if you’re gonna push the Winston/Mariota pick, don’t expect him to start at least the first half – at best, not at all next year!..
January 22nd, 2015 at 4:37 pm
WWinston too much money to make for him to fk up same with Mariota these boys will become men in Tampa bay whoever is the lucky one to get picked will have a team ready to die for them but they have to step in ball out be like freeman 2010 ! Then grow bigger the following year. Keep a good TD : int ratio …..10 years later Super Bowl win? Pro bowls? Possibly hall of fame talk? ………peace out one love

Celly go back to your moms basement
