The Pleasant Lansanah Surprise
December 27th, 2014When Joe remembers this 2014 season, he wants to lose his breakfast all over the keyboard. Even if the Bucs p!ss away the top overall pick tomorrow, this season has been rotten to the core.
A magnifying glass is required to find something decent. It’s almost irresponsible to suggest anything good came out of 2014.
The offense has been abysmal and the offensive line is so heinous, it’s like trying to watch a Three Stooges flick starring Joe Besser instead of Curly.
Well, one bright spot is the emergence of Danny Lansanah. The linebacker, a UFL refugee, was signed late last year by former Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik. Lansanah was a bubble player through training camp but kept working and kept working, and now he is a solid starter at strongside linebacker.
Sunday, he could make Bucs history. Lansanah has two pick-sixes this season. If Lansanah is able to take one more to the house, he will tie Derrick Brooks and Wayne Haddix for most pick-sixes in a season with three.
Not bad for a guy who was knocking on doors looking for work last year.

Well look at that, Mark Dominik wasn’t as bad as people thought…

Uh Jimmer…yes he was.
Do you not think that it was someone in the scouting department that actually evaluated him…not Dominick? Shelton Quarles comes to mind.

Dom…. the blind squirrel.
Someone needs to tell Jimmer.

Lansanah, Jaquies Smith and McDougald are all “pleasant surprises” that have come out of this crap-box of a season. All 3 seem to have the abilities of a legitimate starter in the NFL and have proved it on the field. They may not ever make the pro-bowl – but at least they represent 3 holes that the Bucs no longer have to worry about filling for now.

Pickgrin, good list.
I’d add Louis Murphy and Clinton McDonald too. Under the radar type guys who have played above their pay scale.

This is a prime example of Lovie not caring who picked you or who liked you, as long as you can play football with heart and a high level of skill, you have a place on this team.

No DOMINIK still sucked…
The rep of the Bucs is you come here to get your OJT on the fly.

Dom is on the Jets radar, let’s see what happens in the big city

@pickgrin
Agreed on Smith, Lansanah and MacDonald… I would also add Lemon to that list…
It was also nice to see Jonathan Banks take his game to another level…

Lansannah is canceled out by trading up for Luke Stocker so Dominik still blows chimp.

Agree with all of the other players already named.
I’d certainly add Mike Evans to that mix. Yeah he was a top pick and expected to be good but I’m relieved that he was worth that high of a pick.. I can think of GMC as a great 1st rounder…but we’ve wasted more than our share of top 10 picks. As it turns out this one was a winner.
Ironically we not only got the correct half of that Texas A&M connection and took Evans and not Johnny Flash we are in position to get a far better QB than Johnny anyway.
