Getting Ziggy With It
December 7th, 2014So here’s the deal. Bucs left tackle Anthony Collins won’t answer the bell today in Detroit as he stayed home with an elbow injury.
Of course, cynical Bucs fans don’t think this is a bad thing, as Collins hasn’t exactly make folks forget Donald Penn quite yet.
Collins hasn’t played as well as the Bucs hoped when they signed him from Cincinnati (interestingly, first-year coaches Jay Gruden of Washington and Mike Zimmer of Minnesota, who both came from Cincinnati, didn’t heavily pursue Collins). Collins has been inconsistent. He’s had some decent games. Keyword: some.
His replacement, Oneil Cousins, is no better. Now here’s is something to chew on while you have lunch today before the 1 p.m. kickoff:
Cousins will have the luxury of trying to contain Ziggy Ansah, who is turning into a sack machine. The second-year beast out of BYU leads the Lions with 6.5 sacks on a defensive line that is damned strong.
This is something to watch out for. If Cousins can somehow contain Ansah, it would take a whole lot of pressure off Bucs quarterback Josh McCown. And we all know how well (coughturnoverscough) McCown plays under pressure.

Lovies big sneaky surprise today will be to start Glennon
December 7th, 2014 at 9:07 am
Would like to see Pamphile get some work…even if he isn’t the best replacement…we need to develop our younger players now!!!
December 7th, 2014 at 9:11 am
Geez. Just play Glennon already.
December 7th, 2014 at 9:26 am
Yawwwwn. GM gents. Let’s start the fighting, shall we? Cousins played LT better than Collins anyway so this is nothing more than addition by subtraction.
But can we talk about some real playmakers like LVD, Banks or uhm a uhm oh yea GLENNON? MG8 till the bitter end. Mgm4lyfe(TM).
Nothing better than a glennon mclown debate first thing in the morning.

$hit, we’ll probably be hearing that old Will Smith song Gettin’ Ziggy all ****ing day on Monday on sports radio if Cousins has the day I am expecting….. Guess I’ll just listen to XMas music and potential formats on 98.7 FM, nice of them to get into the Christmas spirit so early, I am sure the employees on the former format are feeling that way; the radio industry is one cutthroat %$%%^&!^^&….. Still hope I am wrong about Cousins and Josh actually gets to test the Lion secondary with Evans and V-Jack…..

the bucs are probably going to trade or cut players in the near future. this would be a good game to showcase these players. maybe they might get 7th round draft pick for them. the bucs season is over. at the bucs/bengals game I would say almost half the fans in the stadium were in Bengal colors. many buc ticket holders probably sold their seats to Bengal fans at ticket selling internet websites. entire sections of the stadium were almost empty. for those of you that watch at home next season the home games will not be on tv.

Alright Bucs….let’s not all of a sudden get cagey and beat the Lions at their place again this year. Mariota & Winston looked good this weekend…no sense in winning any meaningless games down the stretch!

I think congress but an end to blackouts.
December 7th, 2014 at 9:58 am
It really doesn’t matter… This line is horrible with or without Collins… The Lions are going to crush McCown’s head like a little blond grape…
December 7th, 2014 at 10:10 am
Blackouts? Thats okay, someone will probably restart the bus that rolled down to the LeRoy Selmons in South Fort Myers but I think DB is right about the Senate threatening the NFL to stop the blackout or they will pull their anti-trust exemption so I think all the trolls and transplants have seen the last of the blackouts, no more getting to see your favorite team from the north anymore in lieu of the Bucs even if they draw #s like they did when Hugh the Screw ran the franchise in his “outstanding” creamsicle blazer that only Don Cherry or Craig Sager could think of wearing………….

Agree, Pamphile needs some work.
One great thing is that a new OC will be hiring a new OL coach. Warhop just hasn’t gotten it done. We’ve brought in three veterans now who have underperformed.
The best thing the Bucs can do today is to try and run the ball and keep the play action and screen passes coming.

Pamphile needs a replacement. When are we going have NFL players on the o-line?
December 7th, 2014 at 10:48 am
But guys McCown had us in position to win last week. Three times this year McCown had us in position to win and the rest of the offense blew it. What has Glenon done? The defense set him up to win in Pittsburgh so why should he get credit? And It’s also Glennon’s fault that ASJ fumbled in OT against the Vikings.
LOL McCown SUCKS!

Seriously If The Buc’s can draft Andrus Peat or Brandon Scheriff and line him up with Mankins our line should improve. I also wouldn’t mind seeing them bring in guard Orlando Franklin either.
