Chucky Locked Up For Seven More Years

Question: What 45-year-old guy who professes to be totally in love with his career gets fired and then never returns to his job, despite countless opportunities?
Answer: Chucky.
No matter how much Bucs icon Jon Gruden claims he loves football and loves coaching, no matter how many times he wears his Fired Football Coaches Association t-shirt, he can’t fool Joe.
Chucky got bounced by Team Glazer and realized his heart wasn’t in coaching. Joe has long maintained that Team Glazer probably made the right move in the long run because of that. No, Joe’s not saying Raheem Morris was a better head coach, just that Chucky’s time likely was up, given that he never chose to coach again.
Yesterday, BSPN announced Chucky got a contract extension through 2012. He’s locked up through the life of BSPN’s current contract with the NFL.
That’s right, Chucky could walk in and coach Matt Ryan and Julio Jones for massive cash in a couple of weeks. He could take over the 49ers or Raiders, storied franchises in a market that reveres him, teams with impressive young quarterbacks. Chucky surely would be handed the keys to the Jets for about $10 million a year, plus all kinds of endorsement possibilities.
But nope, Chucky’s happy in the booth. And that’s just fine. Joe just hopes Chucky stops pretending he loves coaching.

I think he does love to coach, but I think hes getting paid a ton of money to be able to talk football, he gets more sleep, probably has more time with his family. He already has a ring; the guy has it made.

I’ve gotta think that his professed love of football is a marketing ploy he and his agent have going on. The more his name is circulated as a potential coach for every team in need of one, and the more that he says he’s interested in entertaining the notion, the more the network needs to pony up to keep him.

what could he have done with our 3 rbs , vjax, and mike eveans? He’s the only one that could make mccown look like a good starter. Guy consistantly made chicken salad out of chickens^%t.
Looks like at least 7 more years of a cursed franchise and irrelevency.

Uh Joe you might want to change the date:

Shouldn’t that be through 2022? Or does BSPN have the ability to go back in time? If that is the case we should take it and correct our recent mistakes with coaches and FAs.

Gruden proved to me that he’s a lot smarter than I gave him credit for. I don’t think most people realize how hard NFL coaches work, and he was known as one of the hardest workers. Aside from 18 hour days, you have to deal with the media, fans, punk arse players, etc. , and you literally never get to spend time with your family. People (like us) are always claiming they know more than you, and they are always calling for your job. On the other hand, he can work probably 15 hours a week in a booth, and still have time to do whatever the hell you would want to do. I’m going to go with option B on that one.

I think Chucky has figured out working for morons like Team Glazer who let people with absolutely ZERO HC experiece like Raheem (Radio) Morris, Schiano coach a franchise are not going to make many other intelligent front office decisions. You take the hiring of HC Loser Smith and scratch your head!! Look at all of the other new coaches. They have former NFL Head Coaches as the OC & DC. Loser hires a guy who has not called one (1) play and the NFL and guess what….14 weeks into the NFL season and he STILL has not called 1 play in the NFL!
Chucky ain’t takin no rebuilding gig! He gets paid millions to make fun of the idiots like Loser Smith and Sexy Rexy Ryan! I see Chucky replacing the HC of the Patriots, Steelers, Broncos, Colts, etc….somewhere with a roster in place to win immediately.
HC Loser Smith has actually brought less talent to the Bucs and won less games than both Radio Morris and Greg Schiano!! No OC and no culture of winning…..Lovie would not know what a culture of winning is if it bit him on the bootie!

Chucky had two great seasons, the rest were mediocre. Not to mention he and Bruce blew up the great team they walked into (and stfu if you’re about to say “nuh-uh… he brought in M. Pittman!”). This franchise has been a mess since the Dungy firing and crippling Gruden-trade. Winning the ring that year was great, but not sure selling the farm was necessary.

Yeh Chuckys a legend. Wins a Superbowl with 15% more offense than the previous coach against his old team that didn’t change their offensive system since he left them. Chuckys knows that it will never be this easy again. Well except for the booth where he is undefeated.

Harbaugh=Michigan I like him too but it’s not going to happen. Again they are not going to fire Lovie after this season, nor should they. The season has sucked, and a large part of it is Lovie’s fault. Put him on the proverbial hotseat next year and see if the team improves.
Chucky would be the worst coach for this franchise right now. It would be back to FA worn out old Vets. He’s a good coach but not much at building a team. He’d be better suited with the Niners in a market where he’s loved and with a team built to win now.
But it’s all moot now. He has a SuperBowl ring. He can’t top that. Are two rings that much more important than simply winning the first.
Chucky is a smart man. That’s why he’s staying at ESPN

Gruden did bring in Pittman and 24 other new players to that Dungy team. Last time I checked my math that’s more than 50% roster change…..NOT the same Dungy team is it. BTW If it was Dungy’s team, why couldn’t he win with it? Also since Dungy’s firing we won…oh yeah…a SUPERBOWL!!

The whole Gruden discussion is ridiculous, any Bucs fan knows that. The fact is Gruden won the Super Bowl for us. We may never win one again. And to analyze what we gave up and who built the team is just stupid. I separate myself from any Bucs fan that even brings up the conversation with me. A 2-14 record doesn’t mean he should be fired. What he did to get us to 2-14 means he should be fired. NO OC? McClown? Decimated fan base?Lovie has set us back another 5 years. They need to hire someone to run the team and go away to rich person land and enjoy their plunder.
