Chilling words from Derrick Brooks
Bucs legend Derrick Brooks didn’t like what he saw Sunday in Detroit — early in the first quarter.
That’s right. Brooks watched the Bucs-Lions game with his trained eyes and was ready to throw in the towel after a couple of series.
Brooks gave his damning take on Tampa-2, his weekly show with Steve Duemig on WDAE-AM 620 this afternoon.
“This past Sunday’s game is the first time when probably five, six minutes in, I said, ‘Man, we’re thoroughly outmatched.’ Just looking at the trenches. Trenches both sides. I said, ‘We’re outmatched.’ It’s just, get out as fast as we can,” Brooks said of watching the Lions-Bucs game.
Those comments were a real stunning eye-opener. The Lions aren’t exactly an offensive juggernaut. They are the 16th-ranked offense in the NFL, the 29th-ranked rushing attack. Their offensive line has had its woes. Yet the Bucs were beaten in the defensive trenches that soundly and quickly?
What an indictment of how down the Bucs are. So Derrick Brooks saw the defensive trenches getting abused early.
Wow.
Where exactly does one start when it comes to rebuilding this team? And who gets to buy the new groceries?

It’s simple:
Re-sign ALL the good players. Not the great players: ALL the GOOD players.
Cut or release ALL of the sh***y players unless it makes more cap sense
to keep them. Hire a great offensive coordinator ASAP. If you can’t find
a great OC then hire a good OC and give him structure.
Just lose baby! Get the #1 pick and use it to have a great or at least a
good draft. Work your arses off as soon as the season ends until kickoff.
Problem solved or at least mitigated.

The Lions defense plays angry. Tampa has not had that since Sapp was playing. The Bucs defense doesn’t play with intensity. The offense is just non existent.

take the losses on the guaranteed money and cut or trade the entire offensive line. bring in an offensive coordinator that is experienced. perhaps sean payton if he is released from the saints. spend any and all money on the offensive line. this includes top draft pick/ or trade down and get multiple picks. stick with glennon/ mccown. a good o line will help with running the ball next year. this will set up the passing game.
or do nothing and continue to be the joke of the NFL.

When will the Bucs ever draft a franchise QB if not this coming draft? When?
Build up the O line and go 8-8 or 7-9 the next year. Maybe 9-7 the next year after that. They will never have a shot at getting one again with those records.

I think I wouldn’t let Licht go shopping this time. Last time the Glazers gave him the keys to the family car and the credit card and he totally whiffed with the exception of the kicker Murray and possibly Verner (he’s been a disappointment but not quite a bust like the bearded Center and the cast-off from Cincy)…. But is it the Glazers decision to cut Licht loose or Lovie’s; I guess the Glazers could make Lovie fire the guy but is that fair if it was Lovie who ****ed up the shopping list.

Yes Brooks for GM, shoot me while you are at it…he can’t even get the Storm back to average, some of you are unreal. Seriously as bad as L&L are they are still better than what Brooks would do or know about hiring and truly scouting players and making decisions. I know he was our HOF player but he doesn’t walk on water and he’s a mess on the radio when I listen to him.

Lovie is going to be our HC for a while… His and the teams legs were cut from underneath with the Tedford debacle. Obviously the hire of an Offensive coordinator is HUGE! He needs to show that he is not following in the mold of HC’s that are defensively minded and offensively blind. Dungy was a great coach and man but had his blinders on with offensive input and choices. The fear is Lovie is the same… He needs to step out of his comfort zone and make a great offensive hire and let him run with it. Obviously that means retooling the O line… Otherwise he will be another lame duck contract the Glazers will be paying off…

If Lovie stays, get ready fans. Be prepared for more hopeless and depressing times ahead. What you have witnessed all season with his leadership is not going to change. It is unreal we are much worse now than when he took over. One Buc is one pile of steaming mess that can now be smelt from the corners of the NFL. What more does the man have to do to convince the Glazers of his incompetence. It is delusional to think it is going to get better. It’s as simple as that.

I didn’t need trained eyes to see early on in the game that the Bucs were out matched. Even a blind man could see it, especially when the Lions defense was on the field. We are a couple drafts away from hoping to be competitive. The next draft is not going to fix this team to play with the elites. And the Lions are not elite yet so that should tell everyone how far away we are.

Here’s an indictment of L&L: the Bucs beat The lions last year in Detroit with Glennon as QB. And now they’re much worse with a QB ” that gives them the best chance to win”. You can blame Tedford the fraud all you want, but they was no guarantee the Oline would have performed any better with him calling the plays. Lovie turned over the roster and made it considerably worse so I guess the prudent thing to do is give him several more years. SMH!

I’ve been reading the constant drumbeat from fans about signing a QB in the next draft. I can accept that. But it’s not going to make a difference next year.
We have so many areas to improve. I also get the side of the debate that claims we should trade down the #1 pick for a group of picks, we all can see what has happened to St. Louis.
Whatever…let’s none of us get on the “make some big news for fans” drumbeat.
I understand FSU fans pride about their title and possible second one coming up.
And it’s certainly legitimate to think Jameis is going to be a great NFL QB. Time will tell.
But to cheer for a Jameis selection because of “ticket sales” ala Johnny Football is bogus. I know it’s a business. But there is a better way to sell tickets than signing big name star players. Just win baby!
If signing Jameis makes us winners sooner that’s a legitimate reason to sign him.(Or Mariotta) If trading that top pick for a larger number of talented picks helps us win sooner then let’s go that route. That is a legitimate debate to be had.

Pick the right players who will win, not the players with name value that will provide a temporary jump in ticket sales and preseason enthusiasm.
I don’t remember a recent season with more preseason enthusiams and look where we are.

Have you SEEN the stadium lately? Have you seen how little fans there are?
If so. Take those fans and cut them in 1/2 for next season and you’ll have your answer as to whether or not the Glazers want a QB to sell tickets next season.

The best rebuild job would begin with giving Lovey another Basement Vacation! He no longer or never could coach consistently well. He does not know talent. Just look at who he cut and are shining on other teams. Lovey is a looser , has been and always will be. Please Glazers let him go.

Listening to lavonte davids radio show the other day and he said their gameplan was to stop the run. The lions running offense is ranked 29th and the passing offense is ranked 16th. Yea lovie lets focus on their run game…BRILLIANT

Licht needs to go this year along with all his buddies he put in scouting jobs. The new OC needs to be hired as Asst’ Head Coach and he should fire Warhop and get a real Offensive Line Coach. Lovie needs to keep hands off Offense and have no input on drafting Offensive Players. Bring in a proven GM who will take Marriota and uses the next three picks on OL and can evaluate which Free Agents are worth signing–Licht was far worse than who he replaced! Just those changes would make the Bucs winners!

Lovie has total control over coaches and players supposedly. He certainly could have and should have replaced Arroyo. As to who picked these free agent busts I am not sure if Licht should take the heat for these picks. We needs a stronger front office to build team properly. Personnel decisions should be by
consensus with scouting department,head coach and general manager.
Majority rules. Glazers need to take full control away from Lovie or fire him if he refuses.Maybe they need sit down with Licht also.But as owners that previously had a respected franchise no one should be given the keys to return to the team to a laughingstock role.
