Matt Ryan And His Four Threats
November 6th, 2014The Bucs have the NFL’s 31st-ranked pass defense and a shaky pass rush, and Pro Bowl cornerback Alterraun Verner has a bad hamstring.
The Atlanta Falcons have a franchise quarterback, four healthy, dangerous receivers, and the seventh-ranked NFL passing attack (im)balanced by a garbage running game.
So how do you think Atlanta will attack the Bucs?
That’s right. Look for Matt Ryan to spread the ball around all day long.
Following a September foot injury, the Falcons got their No. 3 receiver, veteran Bucs killer Harry Douglas, back on the field in England for their last game.
Coming off a bye week, Douglas is in great shape and Ryan spoke this week about how he’s fired up to have his full complement of weapons.
“I think it’s big. Having those four guys out on the field at the same time creates some mismatch problems for defenses to go against,” Ryan said. We’ve got confidence in all four of those guys to be able to step up and run any route and to make a play at any time, so I think that’s huge for us.”
In case you’re unsure, those other three receivers Ryan referenced are Roddy White, Julio Jones and Devin Hester.
Without Verner (Joe’s hoping he recovers), the Bucs are painfully thin at cornerback. Johnthan Banks is only one man.
Yes, the Falcons have major issues, but completing passes isn’t one of them. Sunday is a huge test for the Bucs defense. It won’t be pretty if they can’t find a consistent pass rush.

Hahaha
Wouldn’t matter if cinnamon toast crunch was completely healthy like he was last time. Julio put on a clinic.

Joe
We may have a bad record, but our defense has been playing better the last couple of weeks since the last blow out. Now if we can get special teams to be special and our offense to attack for a change, we just might win, especially if GMC and the troops rush the passer like they have been showing at times. I would love to see a six sack game, for us not them.
Matty Ice has been getting beat with his receivers all year.

Lovie’s last game…the FoulCoons may have been having a bad year….BUT come Sunday…they’ll have more team PRIDE… and a better QB won’t hurt…and WR’s…and…and..and…

As soft as Mattie Melt and the rest of that tissue paper team is…..they’ll still beat us.
We may not be a soft as bunch of 9 year old girls at a fat camp, like they are, but we have NO continuity on this team anywhere at the moment. That along with no idea of what kind of offense we’re trying to run, I can’t see us winning another game this season.

The Sucs are the perfect team for the Falcons right now. They’ll book-end their losing streak and rejuvenate the franchise.
No way, this defense can stop that passing attack. Only way the Sucs have a shot is to shoot it out with them forcing McCown to throw which means more INTs.
Falcons 24-10 and it won’t be that close.
Go Sucs!

@ElioT – The team isn’t the Sucs. Show some respect. The team name is the New Browns.

Just be sure to kick the ball to Hester (if you can kick that far) he’s old now and can’t play that’s why we didn’t sign him.

I’ve lost all feel about what the Bucs may do trying to win a home game against Atlanta. Then again, there is that home field advantage.

The foulcons will score three first half touchdowns…..we will score ten points in the last 4 minutes of the game. 21-10.

Shouldn’t matter if they play T-2 right. Expect a lot of yards for Ryan sure, but they win if they keep them out of the endzone, and create turnovers. If they play T-2 right they do both of those. They are gettin’ better at it.

Atlanta 38-14

I actually picked up harry douglas for one of my fantasy teams fearing that he and Roddy White will light up the scrub who starts in Verners place. Might as well try to win my fantasy league on the backs of players who will pad their stats on the back of Buccaneer ineptitude! Hard to see a scenario when the Bucs win or even keep the game close; Vegas wiseguys could prove me wrong but it does look like $ on the ATL, now a 3 point fave in some circles….
