Football On A Playground
November 25th, 2014One bright spot in this miserable season is the glow of rookie wide receiver Mike Evans. It is hard not to group Evans in with the top tier of receivers in the league.
Sunday, in the loss to the Bears, the way Evans described it, he and quarterback Josh McCown were playing backyard football on his touchdown catch, the lone TD for the Bucs.
“Josh told me in the huddle to go get it,” McCown said. And Evans did, fighting off single coverage and fighting to keep his hands free to pull in the score.
By this time, one would think teams would not defend Evans with single coverage. It doesn’t shock Evans.
“Doesn’t surprise me at all,” Evans said. “There are good corners in this league.”

One wonders what happens when they do double-cover him, cause then it will take real skill and determination and disciplined study, rather than just raw talent.
